Okay this is a tough one for me. Let me start off by saying the ribs are fantastic! They were probably in my top 10 ribs wise. The issue is they are ridiculously overpriced. A half rack costed me about 16 dollars, which at a nice place would have been a deal, but at this takeout only hole in the wall, come on it’s a rip off. I’ve gotten better ribs at nicer places for much better prices. 4.5 stars

Went today for the rib and chicken combo. It was AMAZING! Love the sauce and the smoky flavors. We will be back!

I was headed home from the Deerfield Beach Library, and around the vicinity of Hillsboro Blvd and Dixie, I smelled the most heavenly aroma of barbecue wafting through the air. I pulled over at the first drive-thru I came across to get on Unilocal and research. Papa Sauce was a few blocks over and I drove right there. Yes, this is a very unassuming place, and if you don’t know what you’re looking for, you might pass it up. I got to the walk-up window, and Mr. Papa Sauce himself was at the window. I told him I had just moved to the area, and was a first time customer, and he offered me a quite generous taste of greens, potato salad, rice with peas and 2 ribs. And it was all delicious. That Papa Sauce was a sweet mustardy, tangy delight. He passed me a menu so I could peruse, and a few more older gentlemen came and sat and began to talk with me. They reminded me of my dad and his brothers — old school guys eating and laughing and talking. Everyone was so sincere and wonderful while I was there. I ended up ordering the cheeseburger with Papa Sauce, Mac and cheese and greens. He gave me a side of pork and beans on the house, along with a cold pop. Again, the food was wonderful: homey, delicious, filling and plentiful. The proprietor was amazing as well. This will be my new go-to spot.

Went to this Papa Sauce for the first time! They got both of my orders incorrect and gave us the chicken and rib combo. The ribs and the chicken were chewy and maybe undercooked but the smokey texture was great. The sides were unimpressive and bland. I wish there were more favorable. The burgers were amazing though and the sauce is very good!

I found Papa Sauce through my Unilocal app. I’m glad I did otherwise I probably would not have ever known that this place existed. It is about a five minute drive from where I reside. I would say that this is strictly a take out joint. It can definitely be difficult to find without GPS. The easiest way is to remember that it is about two blocks south of Hillsboro on the west side. You will see a small parking lot and just a single bench. That’s where it is. I’ve only had the ribs and baked beans here. The baked beans are good, however, I found them to be too sweet for me personally. The ribs are great. They’re spare ribs and they’re huge. I order a half rack and it is beyond enough. Hell I honestly feel like I need to work out and build muscles to be able to comfortably carry the ribs to my car, that’s how much they give you!!! The meat is firm yet still tender and cooked to perfection. The owner or his daughter ask if I want the sauce on the ribs or on the side. I always opt to have the sauce on the ribs. They douse the ribs in sauce which I love. Now they do use a mustard base sauce here. I’m generally not into that but I find this place to be the exception. Wow the flavor of the sauce is awesome. It isn’t too sweet and it compliments the ribs beautifully. They are only open a few days a week. I’m not sure which days that is but I do know they’re open on Saturday. I would recommend calling before you go to confirm they’re open. All in all this is a very good family owned and operated BBQ joint. I find the prices to be reasonable. I will be back again and I suggest you give it a try.

A hidden gem for soul foodies! Stopped here today to pickup some lunch, it was VERY good! Smoked barbeque chicken. wow. .it’s not located in the best part of town, and it’s difficult to see from the road, but it was fast. friendly, and delicious! Not sure what they are putting in this sauce but it should be a beverage! If you’re on a diet, or afraid to get your hands dirty. just keep going. :)

We got delivery from Papa Sauce today for lunch at our office. I believe we got one of the family meals with the ribs and chicken. It also came with beans, greens and potato salad. The food was pretty phenomenal. Not one person in the office had something bad to say about it. Half of the chicken was spicy but delicious. The ribs had great flavor as well. At the end of our lunch time, the office had an awesome«smoky» aroma. We’ll definitely order from Papa again.

I had to check out Papa Sauce based on a recommendation. Glad I had a GPS cause I would have driven right past it. At night, the only clue you know its there is a single light shining on the benches outside, and an illuminated open sign that you’ll miss if you’re not careful. There are no signs indicating anything of substance here exists. You order by walking up to the window; if you wish to eat on-site there are a few uncovered benches outside. Since temps were in the low 50’s we decided to take it home. So we ordered a rack and a half of ribs with Mac & cheese, BBQ beans, and collard greens. First rookie visit mistake was to assume these were baby back ribs. Nope, since we’re in a classic soul food joint these are pork spare ribs. So a rack & a half is way too much for just 2 people, even if you have a big appetite. A half rack is more than enough for two people. The ribs are fall off the bone tender as you’d expect, and are very tasty in what you’d expect comfort food to be(rich). The sides certainly lean on the sweet side, which I didn’t mind one bit. The sauce used for the ribs to my untrained pallette is mustard & vinegar based mixed in with some pork fat. Next time I’ll get the sauce on the side so I can control how much I want to drown the ribs. Papa Sauce does make me recall Betty’s in Ft. Lauderdale in that it succeeds in creating great soul food eats, although I’m sure most physicians wouldn’t recommend eating like this on a regular basis. Oh and the bill for all of the above? 58 bucks. Steep for take out for two(again our mistake), but fine if you like leftovers for a week. :-) I’ll definitely try it out again to try some other items.
