The lunch menu is very well priced, and it offers a ton of food. I really like the spring rolls, but I wouldnt recommend the dumplings. Everything else on the menu is spot on, and I really like the sweet and sour chicken. Going in to eat was great, and the food comes out quite quickly.

Update: This restaurant is now CLOSED! Not sure when it happened but it is closed as of 3⁄10. Love coming here for lunch… the place is small however the food is good and cheap! For lunch I always order the lunch special mongolian beef with fried rice and a coke… this comes with an egg roll however I substitute the egg roll for a crab rangoon. All this is just about $ 10 including tip! Service is good. its a one man show it seems like since the owner looks like he does a little bit of everything! I keep coming here randomly for lunch and truly enjoy it :)

Based on the reviews I ordered from here. I called at 3, and they still let me order the lunch specials, which was very kind. The portions were huge! I order the curry(very good and spicy) orange chicken for the kids, kung pao, and lo mein… everything was fabulous, loaded with veggies and big pieces of chicken. I will def order again. I also liked that, it seemed like a grandma was cooking the food when I walked in, in a giant wok. Seemed very genuine and made me feel like it was a home cooked meal.

service + food. both lacking. called in a carryout order. didn’t ask what kind of rice, what kind of egg roll, and didn’t even say what time i should pick up the order. got there. the counter guy didn’t greet me. while i was there some people came in. they were not greeted. they sat down on their own. then the counter guy brings out egg rolls. they didn’t even order. turns out they wanted veggie egg rolls but the guy brought out pork egg rolls. on to the food. i got kung pao chicken. weakest kung pao chicken EVER! severely lacking in flavor. chicken served on a bed of fried rice. fried rice was meh. definately have had better. the portion of chicken was so, so small. all. around. fail. will not be back.

I ordered for Delivery, so this review is for food and service only, not the actual store itself. Great first impression! Found them online thru Unilocal of course. Then I went to their website where I was super-happy to learn I could just place my order online! How cool! Placed my order, was NOT happy to learn they do not accept Discover, which is my main card. But I love the fact that I can place my own order! I do wish their online menu was expanded to provide a list of ingredients &/or description for ALL the food, not just some. But I knew exactly what I wanted, which was Kung Pao chicken. Upon placing my order, I was immediately provided a screen that showed my receipt. I also recieved an email with receipt and other info. The order arrived quickly, delivery kid was friendly, and food was still hot when it got here. Now, the important part: the taste was ok. Not the best kung-pao ever, it was pretty thick and rich. I think they should thin it out just a smidge. The quantity of chicken was excellent! And i loved that it was cut into little bites. Delivery fee was $ 3, which is a little steep considering I still have to also tip the driver. $ 2.50 is the norm — which I’m ok with. Maybe I’m cheap. Overall, I’ll order from here again, mostly because of ease of ordering and quick delivery. Maybe I’ll venture out and try some new menu items, too. If so, i’ll come back and update my review. Looks like they’ve got a lunch menu too — for those who need to get in and out quickly, so that’s probably worth checking out!

This place is really the best option in the area for good Chinese food. Obviously nothing fancy — just your typical, tasty, hole-in-the-wall place. Small dining area, if you’re interested in eating there. Can’t say it’s a culinary masterpiece, but I’ve tried all the Chinese places nearby that I could find, and this place wins, no matter what the dish. I typically order online(discount!), and the food has always been ready within about 10 minutes even at lunchtime. And it’s worth noting that they seem to take care with the presentation of your food — making sure it looks good, making sure all lids and bags are nice and secure so nothing spills.

I am shocked that I lived within a 5 mile radius to Wok King over half my life and never ate from there before(at least from what I can remember). I was back in the ‘hood for an appt, and decided to grab some grub for the bf and I after wards. I stopped in to place my order with the owner, and from what I noticed, he seems to do a little bit of everything(take orders, answer phones, etc). The actual restaurant is tiny, and a bit run down. There was no one inside except for a lady waiting for her food. However, the phones kept ringing, so I can tell this place is more of a carryout rather than dine-in. To be honest, I would only do that here anyway. As I said, there is only one guy running the place, so he didn’t always pick up the phones when they ring. So keep in mind that you may have to call two or three times before he actually gets to it. He also comes of as kind of rude, but I don’t think he does it on purpose… maybe just his business wearing out on him? Regardless, I think he needs to work on that. Anyway, I ordered hot and sour soup and one order of the Mongolian beef which came out to around $ 14. This was more than enough for two people because the portions are very generous, and may I add, DELICIOUS! Honestly, one of the better soups I have ever tried, and the beef was outstanding — full of juice and flavor. So for the price I paid, this was a great deal. And now that I know how good the food is here, I will def order more often. They deliver too, so that’s an added bonus. I heard him tell a customer it would be a 40 minute wait until they would receive the food, while I only waited 10 minutes or so for my order.

I got Beef Suey — pretty reasonably priced at $ 5.75 and I still have left over. The food quality is nothing spectacular it’s just okay. They forgot to put napkins in my box, even though I never checked the button to NOT put them in there in my online order. The smell of the place would have probably turned me off from ordering there, had I not ordered it beforehand online. It’s ok — not the best but also edible and affordable.

yeah, it’s that time. I have been to many-a-chinease restaurants, and that one i think about late at night before i go to bed is this one… so 5th star goes to you, Wok King! Best sesame chicken and crab rangoons that i have ever had. The chicken is perfectly cooked, the sauce has a good balance of sweet and savory notes. The crab rangoons, oy vey, i could do a documentary on my love for them. In all honesty, i love this place dearly, and i think the owner could be a wee more hospitable. I understand that he is trying to be nice, and it’s probably not coming across to me that way because of cross-cultural differences? But hey, i’ve been enjoying developing my awkward owner-customer bond with him. Plus, did i say that food’s good? eh?

Large portions for the money, only thing going for this place. However, sauce was not good and there was too much of it. Need to change sauce on egg foo young for me to try again. If you order, you should ask for little sauce or no sauce at all. Egg roll was not crispy enough.

YUCK! I live down the street from Wok King and I would never order from them again. The fried rice is horrible, c’mon fried rice is a standard item and you absolutely should not go wrong there! The Lo Mein was just okay, but you can tell their ingredients are not fresh at all. Their egg rolls used to be pretty good, and now they’re terrible too. It’s just BAD… I wish I could figure out one positive thing about this place, but obviously cannot. If you want Chinese go to Empire Szchechuan in Northbrook. They even have a Korean Chinese menu… now that’s my kind of Chinese restaurant :)

I’m PMS-y. I want Chinese food. I’m a work and SUPER freaking busy with no time to drive out for lunch(although I obviously have time to be pissed off and write this review). I googled Chinese/Delivery/Deerfield, IL to find this place. I ordered online at 11:31 am. HUNGRY. They finally call me approx 12:15 pm to inform me that they have no driver. REALLY??? It takes you 45 minutes to figure that out? Sooooooo frustrated. Horrible experience. Never ordering from them again — I suggest you don’t either! Boo. PS — ordered PF Chang’s from as an alternative — hope it works out better.

3 stars for the food, an extra star for the service. I’ve been in Deerfield for business for the last week and have been eating nothing but American food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Of course I looked to Unilocal to find where I can get some Chinese food. One thing that kind of struck me as interesting was that I could order online for Chinese food… Cool! I was glad to be able to look at the menu and order at my own pace. After I placed my order I called over to make sure my order was received. The guy on the phone said they have it and that they’ll deliver in about 25 minutes. I reminded him to bring me some paper plates and utensils as I would be eating in my hotel room. About 25 minutes later, the delivery guy knocked on my door for delivery. The transaction was quick and pleasant. Can’t complain there. Upon opening the bag, everything was wrapped up nice and neat. I was surprised at the attention to detail when it came to packaging the food. The Food: Food was piping hot when I opened up the boxes with huge portions. Each dinner entrée was enough for 3 – 4 people. They don’t skimp on the quality of the ingredients as well so I was happy to see that. The taste of the food was just okay… Keep in mind I’m from Northern California where the Chinese food is phenomenal but this will do while I’m here in Deerfield. Conclusion: It’s not the best in terms of taste but they do make up on quality of ingredients, portions, and attention to detail on the little things.

The service is HORRIBLE. There is only one guy(the owner) serving the food, taking orders and answering the phone. I do not recommend dining in. If you do, do not expect for your water to be topped off ATALL, let alone asked if everything was ok. Once you overlook the bad service, the food I’ve had there is pretty okay. I do admit, they have some tasty egg rolls and table sweet/sour sauce(not the packet kind). I usually get the General GSO Chicken. DONOT expect good phone service either. He will pick up the phone, take your order, then say«okay»…then he hangs up. No «Thank You» or «Your food will be ready in…». Someone needs to provide him with a lesson on customer service in America.

Yikes! I have no idea what they did to this Egg Foo Young. Over cooked and dry with canned gravy on top, Worst ever. Thankfully Buffalo Grove has a many other choices. Fortune cookie was good.

This is a regular stop for our office lunch crew. Lunch specials are a bargain and very good, large portions. You even get an egg roll with your lunch. Noodle soup bowls are one of my favorites. Wok King has a very small dining area, maybe seating for 20 – 25 total so plan your lunch time accordingly. They need some décor updating but I don’t go here for the scenery.

delivery time– 45 minutes on a tuesday isn’t too bad, and we have a hard to find apartment. we ordered the pot stickers, egg rolls, orange chicken, mongolian beef, and beef fried rice. the pot stickers were average at best. the orange chicken was advertised as spicy and did not pull through. everything was bland. there are many other chinese delivery places in the area and we will be going a different route when we next feel like chinese.

Pretty good lunch menu. Real small place, but fairly cheap for lunch. Not so great service as it seems to fill up during lunchtime. Standard chinese lunch fare.

Yummy food. Dinner menu is pretty pricy though. Average dinner cost between $ 11 – 14.
