Look, you’re not going to find a 5 star restaurant in Del Rio. But, if you’re looking for a decent meal, this is the place to go.

I really enjoyed the veggie sandwich and potato salad. So fresh and tasty. I also tried the pecan pie and was delicious!

I really liked there sandwiches everytime i went. The place is a cute little place but the food its good. takes a little bit of time and was slightly overpriced but the atmosphere is nice. i alway sit in the window area with my wife and that makes it feel outdoorsy. The people that work there a very friendly and they offer military discount.

I was impressed with the décor & ambience upon entering this unique sandwich shop. The menu is plentiful & offers several selections to please any appetite. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on rye bread, with a cup of chicken tortilla soup. I was«wowed» by the chicken tortilla soup that had a blend of flavors. The sandwich however, too much mayo dressing, didn’t meet my expectation. I also ate a slice of Italian Crème cake & was disappointed with the lack of homemade taste. Despite my dining experience, I will return & try another menu item with the amazing chicken tortilla soup! I’ll skip the dessert next time too, unless there are homemade selections.

Good little sandwich shop, not so great for salads. Been there a couple times and the soup and sandwiches I had were good. My friend ordered a Greek salad and it was just lettuce feta cheese and two tomatoe wedges. No olives, onion, or pepperoncini’s. Wasn’t worth the 8 dollars she paid.

I’ve had food to go from here + I’ve dined in once before. Both times were absolutely fabulous! The tortilla soup is what they’re mostly known for and it definitely does not disappoint. Personally, though, I’m a bigger fan of their chicken and dumpling soup! Their Aloha(I think that was what it was called) sandwich was yummy, too! It had pineapple, avocado, ham and cheese. None of which can ever go wrong– especially when they’re put together. This will most definitely be a staple restaurant while I’m living in Del Rio!

I hate chicken however the tortilla soup is the best I have ever had and it has chicken! The pimento sandwich rocks! Great place for lunch!

Cannot go wrong with this place. Anything you order is good. Go on Wednesdays for the fish tacos. Also try the tortilla soup.

Stopped in a cold afternoon after I saw the sign in the window saying«Voted Best Soup» by local newspaper readers. Just what the doc ordered. Hot and delicious bowl of soup!

The food is pretty good, although pricey for what you get. Their sandwiches are good, but nothing to write home about. The desserts don’t seem fresh. The service is horrible. They obviously have plenty of business, being one of the few restaurants in the area, and perhaps figure they can afford to lose customers to rude behavior. I stopped going there because of the poor service. I would give them three stars if it weren’t for their service. I prefer Subs and Clubs on the other side of town

Coming into The Brown Bag, I liked the atmosphere and thought the place was cute. I bought the Turkey Reuben with potato salad. I thought the sandwich had too much mustard, I don’t mind mustard, but that’s all I tasted. The potato salad was creamy and haven’t had potato salad like that anywhere else, but it wasn’t for me. I’m not giving up this place though because I have heard many great things and just feel like I made a bad choice my first time going in.

This is, hands-down, the best place to eat in Del Rio… not that that is saying much. The Brown Bag specializes in salads and sandwiches. While their menu is written on a large chalkboard on the wall, they do keep a detailed menu that describes each of the salads and sandwiches up front. My favorite sandwich so far is the Fiesta: a steak sandwich topped with jalapenos, cheese and avocado. The salads are pretty good as well, and there are a decent number of dressings to choose from. The service is better than the Del Rio standard, but its not great. The sandwiches come with a choice of side: pasta salad, potato salad, soup and a few other options. I opted for the soup, which came out tepid. The fact that the service is above average, the food is pretty good, and there are healthier options on the menu is enough to rate The Brown Bag a Del Rio 5-stars. It is also pretty convenient to have a shop next door that you can wander around while you are waiting for your order. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this place, it is cute and quaint and prefect for lunch.

Love going here for lunch! Recently had their fish tacos. You get three tacos per plate with a cup of the AMAZING tortilla soup. The tacos come with cabbage, pico, and avacado and are DELICIOUS! The menu is written on the wall, but they also have a menu at the counter that has all the details of each item. My husband is a fan of their pasta salad and fresh fruit– you can’t go wrong!

This is one of my favorite places in Del Rio. They’ve got good deli sandwiches and a fun environment. Its connected to the Buffalo Girls, so if its too busy during the lunch rush, I go shop around in Buffalo Girls, then come back for lunch when its not quite so busy.

This is definately a great place to eat if you have the time! The tortilla soup was phenomenal! Everyone seems to know each other too! Everyone is very friendly and they will definately take a moment to explain what they have! Definately good eating and a good place to meet up with a couple of friends-never really seen any kids in there-kind of a small area!

Probably the best place to get lunch in Del Rio, just make sure you have plenty of time as this place is almost always packed. The soups and sandwiches are delicious! All the ingredients taste incredibly fresh and there is a huge selection. It’s prices are pretty equivalent compared to a place like Panera(which Brown Bag has a pretty similar set up to), but they offer a 10% military discount. They are only open for lunch, and I wish there were more places like it in town. Makes you think you’re at a real deli in a real city while you’re there.

Eating at The Brown Bag was delightful. This small deli in downtown Del Rio has a wide variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches utilize recipes that attempt to introduce flavor in ways rarely seen in this town. When I entered the place was bustling with the lunch crowd from the downtown area. Somehow, the atmosphere seemed a little more upbeat and welcoming than many of the other restaurants I visited in this town. With this being my first time to the Brown Bag, I opted for the chicken salad, which consisted of chicken, green onion, celery, almonds, and capers blended in an herb mayonnaise and served on a croissant. It tasted great. All sandwiches come with a choice of a wide variety of side items, and I opted for the tortilla soup. It was as good as the other reviewers claim, with bits of chicken and black been in a cheesy chicken base. I left with my taste buds quite satisfied. It’s been mentioned that The Brown Bag isn’t as good as other places in other towns, and that’s probably true. For Del Rio, however, the folks that run the Brown Bag are on top of their game and offering cuisine that you can’t find anywhere else in town, so they’re as good as it gets.
