Picked this place out on Unilocal because it was close and new to the group. Everyone had a great meal with outstanding service! I would recommend this place to anyone!

(Insert eloquently written prose about Austin countryside). Bubba’s Wild Game burger is worth the stop. I had the Elk Zombie burger. Elk is lean so it’s not super moist, but what it lacks in moisture it makes up for in flavor. If it’s a race weekend expect long lines. The sweet tea is on point. The atmosphere is great. Now put down your phone grab a beer and burger and eat.

Love going to Bubbas when I can. So far I’ve had the kangaroo burger and the yak burger. They are a little pricey but delicious and worth the wait. They have tons of décor but if you didn’t know what you were looking for you’d pass it right up.

Great service, great food, welcoming, fast service, entertaining staff. Lots of locals eating there. 2 minutes off the tollway. Double Zombie and onion rings! Perfect, fresh, and beautiful.

Limited menu today as must of their employees were at COTA for the MotoGP. The brisket was tasty, but no chance to try an actual burger, so just going with a t star rating today. Nice folks, though!

A friend and I were headed down to McKinney Falls State Park last week and looking for some interesting eats in the area. Enter Wild Bubba’s. It looked super neat and different from the reviews, so we settled on going. There’s moderate parking up front, but plenty more in the back. The inside is reminiscent of Black’s Barbecue — lots of stuff on the walls, time-worn floors and tables. Right up front before the counter, there are several large chalk boards explaining their menu and the different meats you can order. Elk, Kangaroo, Buffalo, and Yak are all present — including different styles of burgers like the Zombie. The gentleman who took our order answered all the questions we had like a pro and got our orders taken in no time. We did wait a while for our food, but a very large table had just come in before us, so we entertained ourselves with our phones, looking at all of the F1 memorabilia on the walls, as well as watching races on their TV. The baskets were huge when we received them. Big burgers with puffy buns — lots of cheese and meat, lots of lettuce and condiments… plenty of fries. We really enjoyed the Yak that we got — it was moist and flavorful and not too out there. It wasn’t gamey or anything strange, we really liked it. We’d definitely come back and bring friends to Wild Bubba’s — it was a great and unique Texas experience.

My parents were in town to visit me and my mom said she heard of this place on Anthony Bourdain or something. This place is just past the circuit of the Americas and very easy to miss as it blends in with the gas station. We parked outside(limited spaces) and went in. It looked like a rustic country restaurant with photos of F1 cars and tvs playing races. The menu was in the front. They had lots of exotic meats ranging from elk, yak, venison, buffalo, wild boar, and kangaroo. My parents and I ordered venison, elk, and buffalo. I had the elk and thought it was decent. My dad loved his buffalo. My mom also really liked the venison. Apparently we messed up our orders(our fault). My mom got a single instead of a double(get the double). I also ordered elk instead of yak. But not to worry, we still had an appetite so we ordered a double burger of yak zombie style(has a lot of different ingredients). The Yak was amazing. It was definitely the best meat here I tried. There were even signs around the restaurant promoting yak as healthy. Better than a normal burger and gives you something different. I definitely recommend the zombie burger(makes the burger around $ 18 though for exotic meats). The staff was pretty friendly and the orders came out in a reasonable amount of time. Overall I liked this burger place and you should go outside of town and try it I’d you are looking for something that isn’t beef.

Definitely worth the trip if you want to try something different and wild. I had the yak burger, which was recommended to me. I will definitely go back to try other things on the menu.

YEAH! Easily worth the trek out here. You’ll not find a more impressive selection of meat anywhere else around Austin and the wall decorations will easily entertain you for hours. The burger I had was nice and juicy, and if I lived closer I’d try all of their options. If you’re ever near the track, give this one a try!

It’s the real deal. An awesome burger. It’s a no BS menu. Try the Yak. — lean, low cholesterol and flavorful or Longhorn. This place is a «dive.» If it were in town, it would lose the country feel but would have lines out the door. It is next to a gas station that looks bad, but the restaurant is clean and high quality. It is near the Circuit of the Americas and is worth the visit. You WON’T be disappointed. It is a lunch place. I don’t think they do dinner.

This side of the road, hole-in-the wall burger joint is worth the trip! This non-descript place was quite a surprise! The variety of wild game burgers is impressive. The elk is very popular, but I had the buffalo. This was the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The meat tasted fresh & was full of flavor. The fries & onion rings were just the right amount of crisp. The service was great, and I would definitely return. So on your next visit to COTA, be sure to add this to your itinerary. You just might run into some professional riders like we did! :)

Great burger. I had the zombie burger, fries and a Lone Star. It was all great. The burger reminded me of an old school grilled burger. The burger was well constructed, juicy and flavorful. The fries were crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. No complaints!

This is pretty much the only lunch option around COTA. I am not into eating anything gamey so got a double cheeseburger. Juicy burger w standard toppings on a standard bun, nothing fancy. Onion rings and sweet potato fries were super crispy. Others who got yak burgers found their meet to be drier. This place doesn’t exactly look like the cleanest restaurant in the world though. Prices were higher than what I saw on pictures posted here. My double cheeseburger alone was $ 9.25. They don’t charge too much for drinks and sides though.

All the burgers were delicious! The yak my favorite and kangaroo second best! People may complain a bit about price, when you produce exotic meats in the middle of nowhere with tight business hours what do you expect? Definitely worth the drive and money! The fries are awesome too, onion rings a little too breaded in my opinion!

This place is not worth your time! The meats are not what they are said to be. I got what was said to be a kangaroo burger but it tasted nothing like the kangaroo I have had before. It tasted like beef. My boyfriend got the yak burger which is 97% lean but when you took a bite you could tell the meat was very fatty and it too tasted like beef. I find it very suspicious that they have all of these great exotic meats but they are grinding them up instead of serving cuts of the animals. Bottom line: Although the burgers were clearly not what they said, they were tasty. At $ 8.99 each without fries or a drink, they are EXPENSIVE! If you’re looking for exotic meats, take your money elsewhere.

It’s a great concept, but I asked for my venison burger medium rare and it was well done. I love venison but only when it’s just warmed up. I did like the atmosphere. It has a very small town feel which is a nice escape when you live in Austin. I’m just not so sure it’s worth the trip back if I can’t get my exotic meat truly cooked to order.

This is my idea of Austin keepin it weird. A super example of a locally owned business. What a great opportunity to sample wild game in a casual atmosphere. Yes, it costs more than McDonalds… but what the heck. The adventure is worth it. The help/owner(s)? are very accommodating. They will walk a person through the gaminess of each cut. I was with a friend. We ordered two different burgers(two different game) and split them. Both were wonderful. I think one of us got the antelope and gosh I can’t remember what the other one was. Neither cut was too gamey. They were both juicy delicious. I especially liked how they grilled the buns on the griddle with butter. Crispy and soft at the same time. I will definitely go back to explore the rest of the menu. I would like to try the wild boar and yack… for the experience.

The food is great, the folks are extremely nice, down-home good people. It’s a little over priced. But where else can you get a yak burger, or elk?! I had a blended burger– brisket/bacon/beef with pickles, onions and BBQ sauce on a sweet bun. I can’t emphasize enough how kind the staff is though– seriously. They treat you like family. You just KNOW you’re in Texas!

Good but extremely over-priced. I payed $ 47 for 3 Burgers with Fries. I had the Yak Burger; I understand it is of the utmost, extremely lean meats out there, but it did not taste much different than your average Ham-Burger. The other«specialty Meats» we ordered fell into the same category.

This is such a great locally owned business. Within a mile or two of COTA it’s a slam dunk if you are at the track, just turn left and head down the street! At bigger COTA events they have a trailer serving at the track– so you don’t even have to leave… Pretty sure they are closed on Sundays– so double check.

Wild Bubba’s is fantastic for a simple burger that tastes awesome. You won’t find a lot of exotic toppings or bizarre flavor combinations here – what you’ll find instead is exotic meat. And oh, it’s lovely. Game meat is a wonderful thing – much of it is leaner and better for you than your average beef burger. I’m always happy to find places that carry it. What few additions Bubba’s does add to burgers are done particularly well. My jalapeños were added in a nice, even layer across my entire burger. I don’t think I had a single bite that was sans jalapeño. My slice of pepper jack came nicely melted, cementing the patty to the bun. The best topping you can add to these burgers is the spicy mayonnaise – a substance so addictive that Tacodeli’s salsa doña should stand up and take notice. It has a nice subtle burn to it, unlike your standard mayo-turned-pink-by-adding-a-few-drops-of-Tabasco. It’s wonderful. Just in case you, ohhhhhh, have a sinus infection and want all the runny-nose-inducing spice you can get your hands on, there’s extra hot sauce on the tables.(That was me today. I really enjoyed the habañero sauce, haha.) They have venison«chili»(read: bean soup – I can’t in good conscience call it chili since it *gasp!* contains the forbidden legumes) in the cooler months that’s pretty tasty, too. The slightly gamey flavor of the venison doesn’t get lost in the spice of the meatybeanychililikesoup, so it’s fantastic. The bun is nothing special, but you’re not here for the bun, are you? It didn’t distract from the flavor of the meat, and when your patty is a bit more interesting than your average beef burger, it’s great to be able to taste it. Never fear if you’d just like a regular beef patty – even the normal beef burgers here are quite tasty. I feel strange recommending that you go early to somewhere that’s not one of the famed BBQ joints of the state, but you might actually want to go early to Bubba’s if you want the full menu. By the time I showed up at 2 p.m. one day, he was already out of several meats, and there was still a construction worker there bringing an order of 11 burgers over to Circuit of the Americas. It’s getting popular, and popularity couldn’t happen to a more awesome place. Oh, and about that little motoring circuit they’re building a few blocks down the road – the décor of this place is covered with interesting bits of F1 nerdery, photos of local racing geeks and information about the track. There’s some local art and other fun stuff, too. The TV running in the corner plays some F1 clips and an animation of what driving COTA will be like. Take some time to stare at the walls. This is truly a fantastic little burger stand – a carnivore’s/racing nerd’s paradise of sorts. The guys running Wild Bubba’s are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. They don’t have wifi(you’re not *technically* in Austin anymore, Toto), but they are planning on opening up a nice outdoor seating«biergarten» area out back. Oh, and IIRC, they even cater, too. The events where Bubba’s been cooking off in the corner smell exponentially better as a result. Om nom nom nom.

Somehow it seems that I have neglected to review this place, despite having been there many times over the past few years. Let’s get the obvious out of the way first. If you’re out in Elroy, you’re likely there to see the new Formula 1 track and if you are there, there aren’t many places to eat. Wild Bubba’s is one of those rare places that even though it’s the only game in town, it’s still a pretty fantastic place to grab a burger. I don’t know that I’d drive this far out just for a burger — even the Holy Grail of burgers — but I do know that if I’m in Elroy, I’m not leaving without stopping by. I’m really the opposite of a vegetarian, a typical meal for me might be meat with a side of meat and a little extra meat as a topping. As such, this place is a real treat for me. While you never quite know what Bubba’s going to have in stock, I’ve eaten quite a few things that I can’t ever remember being on the menu anywhere else. The antelope is continual favorite, and the black bear should be on the menu everywhere. They’re both that good and a nice departure from your stereotypical beef burger. The staff is simply incredible, they not only cook great food, they also do an outstanding job of making you feel like you’re just one of the local guys — even if you aren’t. They’re continually improving the place, which has been fascinating to watch and somehow they manage to integrate the new Formula 1 décor(it’s the new thing out there, dontchaknow) with the ranch style they had going on before. I can’t think of much I’d change here, all I keep hoping is that Bubba will do well and have the money to expand and grow and hopefully be one of the vendors out at the track, as I expect to be spending a lot of time out there once it opens.

What a uniquely local place! While I am the chupacabrito, this is the sort of place where I actually resist ordering the goat. Why? I like variety, and I’ve had my share of chivo. But kangaroo — never have I even seen it on a menu! Alas, they were out of it for the rest of the year. Same for the yak. I was offered elk, but I’ve been there, done that. Gator is old news, as is wild boar. All I was left to was the antelope — it tasted similar to beef, but very lean. It was well-done, and I recommend that you try to get it closer to medium-rare if they will oblige. Nonetheless, that was an enjoyable burger and I’ve now checked another edible being off my list. Perfectly cooked crinkle-cut fries to boot. They’ve got beer now to wash it down.

Ho ho, wild game out in the country. I go here because I like to check out the Formula 1 site progress and make a lunch trip out of it. Plus, the guys(not bubbas, at all) completely embraced the incoming race track — there is a real F1 shrine in the corner, and they’re publishing the«Speed City Gazette» to update people about track developments. An extra star goes to their enthusiasm. The burgers are good, but if they have the Wagyu chili bubbling while you’re there… get some. It’s incredible. It’s BYOB, and there’s a convenience station next door. Parking is scarce but not unreasonable.

Elks, Antelopes, and Buffalo oh my! My friends mentioned awhile back they had eaten at Wild Bubba’s, for some reason it never clicked that Wild Bubbas was only a few miles away from our home in SE Austin. So Wednesday we all hopped in the Jeep and went to lunch at Wild Bubba’s. Here is what you will find at Wild Bubba’s. Wild Bubba — the coolest hamburger making, business ownin’, gazette writin, damn good food servin’ gentleman in Elroy Texas! Burgers — Elk, Antelope, Axis Venison, Buffalo, Boar, Yak, Kangaroo, Bear and many more. Grilled up fresh and flavorful on a white bun with lettuce, pickles, onion, tomato, cheese and jalapeños, served with a side of fries and a tea for all under $ 8 bucks. I ordered the Antelope, a small bowl of buffalo chili and tasted one of the venison burgers, I was impressed by all of them! I will definitely be back soon! Wild Bubba even brought out packages of various meat and gave us a lesson on the fattiness, color, flavor, origin and texture of all his meats. Have any questions… Just ask Bubba!
