Oyster’s Rockafeller — perfect. Crab Bisque — perfect. Veal Ribeye Oscar — perfect. Atmosphere has that old wood paneled steakhouse feel with lots of Rat Pack pictures and old supper club charm. Food was outstanding, service was spot on, and the cocktails were generously poured. Overall, one of my top 5 supper club experiences in Wisconsin.

Ok, Folks! This is what you want in an old school, Wisconsin(we know how to do this here) supper club! I(we) recently had the opportunity to enjoy a first meet-n-greet in the middle of rush time. I got there early, so I thought some kalamari would we good to chew on B4 new girl arrived. This is a plate for two! Munching on this plate was more than I was looking for. When was the last time you heard that? I don’t seem to have the appetite I once did, or was it beacuace I was I was dessicating myself overtime in the whirlpool? Internists, speak up! French Onion soup, as I was full of fried squid rings and marianara, did it for me.(Insert Hollywood intro-voice here): «In a world where Wisconsin Supper Clubs live and die by word of mouth, and the usual French Onion Soup has enough salt in it to melt a driveway, there comes a time when one stands out in particular: that one is Kurt’s.»

Kurt’s has been one of our main go-to places in the area for a while, and with very good reason: Excellent food and service every single time, and all for much better prices than you might expect from a steakhouse. First and foremost, I need to mention the lobster bisque. It’s one of my favorite things to order anywhere it’s available, so I’ve tried plenty of different versions of lobster bisque. That being said, I can tell you with certainty that Kurt’s is EASILY the best I’ve ever had anywhere. I could probably drink it by the gallon if I had a mind to. They also have great steaks(My favorite here is the filet) which are always cooked exactly as ordered, but I actually don’t often get steak here. I almost always get my very favorite dish, the veal marsala. It’s really that good. The meat is always cooked perfectly — tender and delicious, with an outstanding marsala sauce and plenty of mushrooms. Another great option is the chicken vesuvio. Again, it’s always tender and perfectly cooked, and the sauce is loaded with lemon, white wine and garlic flavor. Additionally, the entrees come with a choice of potato, of which I highly, HIGHLY recommend you try the parmesan au gratin potatoes. Bottom line: Head to Kurt’s Steakhouse, try the lobster bisque and the veal or a steak. You won’t be disappointed.

After a terrible experience at The Golden Anchor, we couldn’t be happier with the service by John and the amazingly good food! Kurt’s Steakhouse never disappoints!

This is our go to place for special nights out. The fried chicken liver appetizer will melt in your mouth, the filet steak will too. Their fish fry is excellent, large, flakey white fish that’s just perfect. My only complaint is I’ve never made it to dessert– I’m always too full by the end of the meal.

My partner and I went to Kurt’s last night for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We made a reservation for 7:30 and they sat us shortly after. The bar area was crowded with people waiting for tables and the bar staff was quick to get and make orders. While we waited we grabbed a couple of cocktails at the bar, which I feel were significantly underpriced. $ 8.50 for two premium liquor cocktails. Both of us ordered the ribeye mine med rare and her’s med and both were served as requested. I REALLY recommend the Brisket Mac & cheese. The cheese sauce is excellent and the addition of the brisket gives it a smokey smell and taste. Our waitress was very friendly and told us that she had only been there about a month. She was attentive and never seemed rushed even though the place was packed. Overall the ambiance makes you feel as if you are in a neighborhood joint that serves really great steaks at a reasonable price.

Food was ok, the appetizer crab cakes were very good, very little filler and good flavor Bar service was excellent and engaging, table service was indifferent to the point of being off-putting, have had much better experiences here, but tonite was extremely disappointing, it overshadowed the food. Don’t order the blue cheese on your steak, I’m not sure what they do but it becomes like velveeta

Wow! What a great dinner. Visiting The area for work with a client and had a craving for steak. Was kinda miffed initially when the hostess stated we had a 20 minute wait; especially as we looked around and noticed 6 to 8 open tables… I almost suggested to pass on the wait, but my client said he didn’t mind eating at the bar, luckily for us. The Brewers were playing, thus I said OK. Huge huge PLUS, because Erica, the bartender was awesome! She has a magnetic and Inspiring personality, fun loving, whitty, intelligent, attentive, gorgeous and makes an excellent Martini(wish I drank one though), did I say gorgeous, oooops, I meant stunning!!! She made our dinner memorable, to say the least. Crab Stuffed Mushrooms were terrific and my steak was cooked perfectly. Can’t wait to come back. Hopefully soon. Thanks for a wonderful dinner experience.

I eat at steak houses all over Wisconsin, and Kurt’s is by far the most consistent. Always cooked the way you want it, most sides don’t cost extra money, and the prices are fair. We go at least once a month!

This has been our favorite restaurant ever since we discovered it about 12 years ago. All of the food is superb, especially the rolls! Their calamari is the best we have ever had anywhere, including outside of this state. The staff, too, is delightful. Lots of good service and humor. Kurt’s main bartender, Brian,(who remembers everyones drink) makes sitting at the bar fun. Sipping on a martini and kibitzing with him as well as othesr who like to sit at the bar because they are«people persons», too, is a very enjoyable time. Marian

I had a pretty good meal at Kurt’s, but left pretty disappointed with the place. A friend of mine was given a gift certificate and made a reservation for four at Kurt’s for a nice dinner. We were seated promptly in a back room. Our waitress arrived to take drink orders. And we ordered some calamari as an appetizer which was pretty good. The red sauce was particularly tasty. Our meals(an assortment of steaks and one fish dish) were mostly tasty. They even catered to my friend who ordered her steak«very very well done», after only one«Are you sure?» The Parmesan au gratin potatoes were really rich and delicious. And the blackened petite sirloin was well cooked, though the seasoning tasted more burnt than blackened. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Clean plates all around in the end. The check came and our friends quickly gave the waitress their gift certificate and additional payment. She returned promptly and we continued to converse for maybe another 10 minutes. Then the manager, or who knows, maybe even Kurt himself, came over and asked us how our meal was we said it was good. Then he asked us to move to the bar to continue our conversation because he had more reservations to seat at our table. Now, I get it. I’ve worked in the industry. I understand that turnover is important, but I thought it was handled poorly. Even with the gift certificate, with four entrees, drinks, and an appetizer, we had still paid a good amount of money, and we were all kind of irritated that we were asked to give up the table so quickly. If we had been there for another hour, sure, ask us to give it up. I also think that the waitress coming over for a simple«Is there anything else I can get for you tonight?» Would have been more appropriate and would have gotten the point across. And there were several empty tables throughout the restaurant that could have been filled before kicking us out. Sure, maybe we wouldn’t have gone to Kurt’s in the first place if we didn’t have a gift certificate, but I don’t think we’ll be going back. There are way too many other steakhouses that serve a better product and treat their paying customers better.

Kurt’s is definitely a supper club environment, some say«old school», exactly what I enjoy. Brian the bartender is excellent, no matter what we asked for he could make it, extremely friendly and engaging. Our waitress Sandy, was outstanding, super attentive. Food was great, onion soup outstanding. Steaks and ribs very good, lobster very tasty. They also have ice cream drinks, that’s a plus now a days.

First time here for us on Sunday 10÷19÷14 at about 5:00PM. First impression: The building has an old school country bar/grill appearance from the outside. The inside is supper«clubbish.» This is not a «dress up» steakhouse, but rather a cozy, come as you are, definitely casual atmosphere. We liked it. We had a drink at the bar, first, and visited with Erica, the bartender, who was very friendly and told us a bit about the history of the place: Members of her family have ran it for quite some time and she has worked here and/or eaten here, off and on, since she was a kid. It was fun talking to Erica and she is truly an ambassador and a real asset for Kurt’s. We were seated in the dining area for dinner and started with good dinner salads: fresh, crisp and accompanied by tasty house dressings including home made blue cheese. My NY Steak was AOK and Cheryl’s chicken breast was very good. Au Gratin and Garlic mashed were offered. No baked potato.(Huh?) We ordered a side of steamed asparagus to share that was simply prepared and good. Service at our dinner table was quick and efficient, but otherwise unremarkable. Overall, Kurt’s is a relaxed, casual place to get a quick, no nonsense and down to earth steak, pork chops or Prime rib dinner when in the Delafield neighborhood.

The ribeye steak we asked for medium charred. After a great French onion soup and garden salad the steaks came. … They were just like we ordered. Some chefs will just put some grill stripes in when you ask for a charred steak. This owner charred the steak and it was done excellently crispy outside tender and juicy inside. 1 of the best steaks i’ve ever eaten. .I live 60 miles away and I will be back! !!

Mid July, hottest day of the year. No one is siting outside. The place was pretty packed. Only a few spots open in the parking lot at 7pm. Being by myself, I was seated instantly and had my salad within 2 – 3 minutes of walking in the door. The salad had yummy beets on it that were cut like thin French fries. Tasty. I had the chicken meal with a side of steamed asparagus. The chicken is smothered in mushrooms and appeared to be lightly coated in a batter. The meal had three relatively large breasts. I ate half. Too much food. I was pushed into getting the lemon cake dessert. It is huge, and they had 6 – 7 large dollops of whipped cream on the plate(ridiculous). The cake was more than moist, the layers were think and it was all lined with some sugar sauce. Taste was okay. I wouldn’t order it if you are into healthy food or watching your calorie and sugar intake. Very pleasant, polite and welcoming staff.

I’ll keep this short and sweet. The food at Kurt’s: Five Stars, no question. Want a delicious steak meal or fish fry in Lake Country? Go here. It’s delicious. The petite filet oscar is a favorite. The drinks at Kurt’s: Top notch. Dirty gin martinis are always delicious and are my fiancée’s favorite. Bar staff is always friendly, even when they’re swamped. The service at Kurt’s: On its own, probably one or two stars. The last half-dozen or so times we’ve visited, staff have been rude, inattentive, and just not what you would expect at an establishment like this. Hence the three-star overall rating.

I had the finest Surf and Turf dinner I have ever had in my life last Friday. The Tenderloin and Lobster were cooked to perfection and their size was wonderfully satisfying. Delicious. So were the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms and Coconut Shrimp appetizers. The service was excellent also. I am originally from Wisconsin but live in Denver, CO now. I’ll look forward to dinning at Kurt’s on every trip back to Wisconsin.
