I went to go watch a friend play on stage with their horn and I never heard them before. I had the best time at this place. I love their inside… people write all over the walls… I thought it was awesome I had to do it myself, and this place had great talent on stage. the music was, and I definitely suggest going there. I know I will again

Oh my Lord! The grill cheese sandwich with sweet pickled jalapeños was amazing. I also had the Kentucky White beer. The staff is fantastic. A really great place.

Prices too high. Tried it twice. There are better bars in town with better drink prices.

I am moving to Deland and this will be my regular spot. The atmosphere is chill, but they have amazing beer choices and Mead. The wife and I split a meat and cheese plate, she had mead and I had beer. The bartenders actually understand beer!

Nice place downtown Deland. We were heading to the Elusive Grape but they are closed on Sunday and Monday. My wife pointed this out and we went in. A very large and nice selection draft and bottle beer. Wine by the glass also a very nice selection. From the looks of the menu the men must come for the beer and the ladies come for the sweet white wines. Not as many selections on the red dry wines. The bartender was pleasant and knowledgeable. There are a few tables outside for seating.

I liked the drink options and the food is great just needs to be a little bit more friendly servers. Idk if it was a bad night but besides that great place

My husband and I stopped in to this establishment at about 5:30 pm on a Tuesday evening. Although it was a bit early and not very busy yet, people were coming in pretty steadily by the time we left. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and the bartender was friendly and very knowledgeable about their extensive selection of beers and wines. We are far from being experts on either one, but he didn’t make us feel bad at about that. He seemed to genuinely enjoy teaching us about the different beers. The people who were there at the bar were friendly as well. We really enjoyed our visit and the beer we drank while there. We look forward to trying many other beers there in the future!

Friendly, upbeat staff! Beer selections that you cant find every where which sets the Abbey out ahead of the rest.

I met up with friends here on a Friday night not too long ago. Not being a wine connoisseur I cannot speak to the quality of the wine, but it hit the spot for me. My husband had a few interesting beers that he enjoyed as well. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, the live music was a cover band that night and they were spot on. I think the only issues I had with this bar is that it was a bit pricey and they ran out of every drink that our small group was enjoying which was slightly annoying. Other than that I have no complaints with this bar! I will certainly return soon.

I stopped in here one night on my way back to Gainesville from Daytona Beach and had meant to review this fine establishment since then but kept forgetting to do so. Verily, it’s a bar that deserves a review and it’s also a fine credit to DeLand. Every college town should have a bar this refined and yet welcoming and keeping later hours every day of the week(open to 2am on weekend save Sunday when they close at 9pm and open the rest of the week until 1am). The bar itself is warm and cozy but nothing too special – certainly clean and well-maintained but not betraying any grand effort to impress or stand out as a destination bar or such. The crowd the night I was there was mainly locals, probably as it was summer and most Stetson students would have been away. One couple was talking to a woman they knew about dogs while four men were talking about politics and the upcoming elections. I could imagine when the Fall term for Stetson was in full swing, the number of students would outweigh that of local folks but can see this bar being very popular with both and I was myself made to feel very at home by the bartenders and patrons alike. It is that type of bar atmosphere we all hope for in a pub-like bar and it seemed very honest and true. I had a beer – I forget which one but their craft beer list is extensive – and the cheese board. This came with several outstanding cheeses, dried figs, hummus, and other goodies. It was a generous serving for about ten dollars and put together in a very appealing manner. There was also a meat and cheese plate and a variety of other foods on the menu and if the cheese board was a proper reflection of the general caliber of things here, it’s a fine place to eat as well as drink. I cannot speak for the wines, but the bartenders certainly knew their beers and it was a hard choice to make on just one after scanning the pages of the beer list and asking the bartenders for suggestions: there were just too many options at hand. I will certainly be back next time I am in the area. Again, DeLand is very fortunate to have this establishment and I cannot really think of much if anything that could be improved upon.

This place has a good, local bar atmosphere. Good place to go if you just want a beer on tap. Terrible wine selection. But I am quite picky about my wine. Good bottled beer selection, but they were out of a lot of the choices.

Excellent craft beer bar. The bartenders are friendly and will help you select a beer if you don’t know much about them. Awesome place to hang out with a great atmosphere! They also have a great selection of wine and wine flights.

Nice place with great beer(although) it is pricey! I do enjoy the live music and the staff really knows a lot about the products. They have made some great suggestions for a novice like me.

My favorite Downtown Deland hangout! Love the open street setting on a spring evening! Band choices are good and laid back so that you can still enjoy the company of friends. Awesome beer selection with very knowledgeable staff.

A group of friends and I visited this place over the weekend, and having never been myself, I think I have now determined that I have found my new favourite place to relax and unwind in DeLand! We stopped by around 6:30 on a rainy Saturday night. Aside from one or two patrons cozied up to the bar, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. A downside for business of course, but I’m always happiest when crowds are at a minimum so this was ideal for me. I really like the layout of the place — a few tables up front, an accommodating bar area, and assorted sofas and armchairs and coffee tables spread about the place. We chose a spot in the very back, which was great at first; cozy and intimate — but unfortunately right next to a stage. We didn’t realize there was going to be live music, and though it was pretty tame — just an older guy doing soft rock 90’s covers — it eventually generated too much noise for us to continue our conversation. A cursory glance at the menu showed the beer selection to be pretty ambitious(bordering on daunting for someone who doesn’t know much about beer. Like me) However, I was in a wine mood anyway, so I chose a Pinot Grigot flight from their abundant wine flight selection. I believe it was around $ 15. What I was not expecting was four wine glasses with 3 ounces of each wine and though 3 ounces does not seem like a lot on paper — that was a lot of wine. I didn’t think I was going to be able to drink all of that. And yet somehow, after polishing off the last drop I was left thinking«where did all my wine go? I want more!» A member of our party asked our server if they had a kitchen and if they served any food. Though not the slightest bit impolite or unkind, the tone of her answer indicated«yeah…sort of… but you should know that people don’t really come here for the food». He forged ahead and ordered a meat and cheese plate anyway. There seemed to be a decent quantity of food on it, but as to the quality, well… The meats seemed like cold cuts from the deli(and not the Boar’s Head stuff that they are always trying to upsell you with, either); the cheeses were mostly ok, and it was served with a stack of saltines. Also a little cup of mustard and some oily pesto. I guess it would do the trick as far as getting something in your stomach to soak up all the beer and wine, but honestly, I think one would be better off grabbing some food elsewhere in town. I really can’t hold it against the place, though. I mean, we were sort of forewarned. I can see how the place might get busy later on in the evening, and I also think we lucked out because a lot of the Stetson students were probably still home for the holidays and so town was still more or less empty of college kids. I liked this place so much though, that I think I’d be willing to chance it, even on a busier night. Going forward, I am definitely going to make it my business to stop by here every time we come to DeLand,

The Abbey has a great beer selection! A bit of a drive from Orlando, but it is worth the trip. If you feel like visiting Downtown DeLand Historic District(as we did on our way back from St. Augustine), this is a must stop. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Great place with lots of craft beers and good wine selection. Friendly staff. Good vibes. Good music. It is a little«cluttery». Not the place to be if you don’t have a genuine appreciation beer or wine.

I’m pretty sure I’d be a regular here if I lived in DeLand. Their bottled brew list is eclectic and delightful, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I would have liked to see more beers on tap(yes, they had 18, but it’s a beer bar and even my local BW3 has more than 20), and it would have been nice to see more European stuff on tap as well. Those are quibbles though. This is a really nice place. I did not eat here, but they seemed to have a tiny menu with good choices for a beer place.
