In town for business and had dinner here the other night. Service was quick and pleasant. Chips and salsa to start were very good. I chose the shrimp chimichanga, it was very good. I loved the taste of it. It was very lightly fried and actually had too much shrimp in it for me. I will surely come here again during the time I am in town.

Went here just looking for a Mexican Restaurant while we were visiting my uncle for the day. To our surprise the restaurant was VERY updated and clean and the staff was extremely friendly! The lunch was fantastic and the portions were HUGE! I am always a little nervous when choosing a Mexican restaurant but this was seriously a great place! Will be stopping back by next time we visit!

A really nice Mexican place. We each had a decent margarita, and the chips and salsa hit the spot. My wife got the mixed fajitas and I had a combo platter with tacos and enchiladas. My dish came with beans and rice. We have other Mexican places to try, but we will be back.

Horrible food. Forgot to put in our app and had to ask for it again when they brought out our main dishes. Rice was dry and seemed like it was a few days old. Guacamole wasn’t good and tasted store bought. Had to go find our server to ask for the check. Found him sitting down with the other staff and manager. Will not be going back.

Chips and salsa good. Could have been spicer or offered the option. Enjoyed a delicious meal here. The mixed Fajitas were very good. The quail, beef, chicken and shrimp were all cooked well. Plenty of onion and bell peppers. The vegetable plate had nice portions of refried beans with cheese, yellow rice, chopped lettuce, tomato and guacamole. Drinks were cold and service with a smile. Everyone cleaned their plates!

We have been in Deland for 3 years and had not tried this restaurant. However, coming back from Daytona we decided to give it a shot based upon Unilocal reviews. I must say the restaurant was clean and very presentable. The requisite chips and salsa were delivered quickly, and we placed a lunch order. My wife enjoyed her food, as did I. It compares with some of the other restaurants in the area, but stands out in the long run. We will go back for dinner in the near future. Nice place! ~~~~~~~~~~ Update: 10⁄15 Probably our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Deland at this time. We have been back numerous times and told our friends about it as well. Everything is good here. Only had one instance where the Chili Rellenos were not as good as before; might have been a different chef there that day. Overall, high marks for Dos Los Compadres.

Best authentic Mexican food I’ve had in a while! We each had the«Speedy Gonzalez» which came with a burrito of your choice, a hard taco, rice and beans. The churros were delicious as well as the sopapilla. The staff was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner.

Didn’t try the margaritas, but since I’m moving here eventually, I know I’ll get to it some time. I had the green enchiladas(chicken). The waiter let me know that they were spicy, but they were only as hot as green tobasco sauce. My plate was very good. The beans were velvety and not too salty. Just the right amount of lard made them authentic and just right. I am a rice snob. I like brown rice and Puerto Rican white rice, and paella, but not too many Mexican rice recipes. However, Los Dos Compadres gets two thumbs up. Not too dry and not too salty. Way to go chef!!! I can’t wait to return and try other things on the menu. See my picture below.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in the DeLand area. Their salsas and queso has lots flavors. Their lunch menu is has a huge selection. They also have a full bar. The servers are very friendly.

My wife and I decided to go to lunch here. The prices were very affordable with the lunch specials averaging around $ 5.99 and the dinner specials being $ 8.99. This restaurant gets a plus because they serve coke products which I love. I know that can be seen as very biased but honestly it’s hard for me to enjoy a restaurant with Pepsi products. Our server was very friendly bringing out our drinks and chips accordingly. He was also very friendly to our infant daughter which is always a plus. The food was brought out in a timely manner and was very good portion size. The food was very tasty. This restaurant may not be the best but it is right on par with the other local establishments. We will def eat here again.

Fast service, really tasty food, hot and fresh. I am a fan of their chicken enchiladas and rice. The chips they brought out before the food were really good, the green salsa has some bite to it. We get the same waiter every time so it may be a family run thing, but he’s really friendly and quick. I used to go to the old location with my Grandma all the time, it was one of her favorite places to eat, glad to see they kept up the same quality.

Food was great, but service was a little to be desired! We arrived at 6:30p on a Saturday night to find a rather empty place. Surprised, we opened up our orders with simply ‘Agua’. My MIL wanted a coffee, but the server told us they don’t have any hot beverages. She was not happy! The rest of our orders were good… but don’t come if you’d like coffee!

I’m going with a 4 star review based on my first experience here. The service was exceptional, the food quality was solid I also would like to see a little more spice in the dishes but they were well put together. I did enjoy the texture of the red and green salsa the chips were fresh and I like the large drink glasses although it was lunch time and I had to settle for tea it was very good tea. I got the mixed fajitas they came out sizzling hot and there was plenty of chicken and beef to more than fill the 3 tostadas serviced. The grilled veggies were cut thin and cooked up nice to accompany the meat i would of liked it a little more flavorful and will request they kick it up my next visit. We had lunch for two for $ 16.00 it was a great value and more than enough food. I would recommend you give them a try.

Twice recently I’ve made good second choices after my first choice made me run screaming out of the restaurant. Thankful to find this place, a cute stand-alone building off of this busy stretch of highway. Thanks, disgusting, ill-managed place up the road! Chips, salsa and margarita came all together(tasty, and the green salsa was fiery) and the colorful menu drew me in with many delicious choices. I settled on the Chile Verde Burrito(Spicy Pork) — secret recipe, green sauce burrito, served with rice, beans, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream for $ 11. «Settling» is not a great term because this burrito was slammin’! Got a good case of heat sniffles, bros and bro-nettes, they aren’t joking with the spicy. Slightly crispy pork chunks were perfect. Wish I could say the same for the rice and beans which were alternately undercooked and somewhat can-ny. Only thing that keeps this from being five stars. Décor is pleasant, looks like a converted diner, music and representation very authentic. Service was good-spirited and attentive. Spring a little extra for the premium marg. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

I started going to Los Dos at the old location and migrated to the new location with them. I have not gotten a bad meal there yet. The service is usually very good! I am there at LEAST once a week for lunch, and sometimes for dinner on the weekends. They have a well thought out lunch menu, with unbelievably low prices that include complimentary chips and salsa(tomato and verde). The portion of food is wonderful, especially considering the lunch price! The dinner menu is a slightly higher price, BUT it is also a far larger portion, and still in line with competing venues… lets not forget, the quality of the food itself is wonderful… no complaint. The Compadres Burrito at dinnertime is as big as my forearm. The chicken taco salad lunch is an amazing value, and very satisfying lunch, even for a large appetite like mine. The fajitas, particularly steak, are an amazing lunch value. The chile rellenos are a personal favorite. I like mine with the chicken there. That is not on the lunch menu, but they will make them for you at lunch… sometimes at the lunch price, other times at the dinner price. We have never been upset with the price or quality. Definitely worth the effort to check out. It is a family run local business, the owner, Horacio, is usually on premise and takes great pride in running a clean, beautiful location serving a great product. The new location also has a standalone bar for drinks after work or eating alone with a drink and the TV. Great atmosphere! They have a room in the back for larger groups or meetings too.

Very good very authentic Mexican food. While I would agree with others that the red(mild) salsa is a little bland, the green(medium/hot) salsa is tasty and hot enough to make you feel it and not hot enough to ruin your upcoming meal. The sheer amount of free chips and salsa should easily suffice as an appetizer, which is good because there are actually very few on offer, especially compared with the HUGE amount of entrees and specials on the rest of the menu. Every dish Ive had has been delicious, although I must admit, of the six or seven times Ive been there, Ive had the Compadres Burrito at least four times. All of the side dishes are great, tacos, tostadas, fajitas, burritos, all very authentic and well prepared, and you can have combinations of anything and everything you want. The sodas are humungous, this sure isnt New York City, Bloomberg would have a fit! The margaritas are fantastic, and at least on Sundays they are two for one. Everyone of the staff Ive ever encountered has been genuinely friendly and openly welcoming. You cant walk in there without everyone saying hello. You cant walk out without them telling you to have a good evening. The service itself is excellent, our wait staff always takes great care of us and the owner is always around making sure things run smoothly. On one visit, there was live music. On this occasion it was a singer/guitar player singing«American» music and he was very good. To be honest, I dont usually enjoy live music while Im eating but the volume was not too loud and his playlist was not bad so Id say the overall effect was a positive one. If there is no live music the radio plays Mexican music at a very reasonable level and it sets a good atmosphere to enjoy the food. Anyone coming down 17⁄92 from Deland will have to make a u-turn on International to get there but the parking lot is huge and the restaurant is too, Ive never had to wait for a table, nor too long for the food to arrive. Highly recommended.
