Decided to give this place a try. I must admit I first went in with visions of burgers and milkshakes in my head but well once reality slapped me in my face(that I need to make healthier choices) I opted for their chicken kebab plate. Wait what Kebab in a burger joint??? Yeah Kebab in a burger joint. The owners are Turkish so if they are advertising kebab you bet your bottom dollar it’s going to not only be fresh but by the book. Well needless to say I patiently waited a reasonable amount of time for my freshly prepared kebab and brought it home. So what do you get for the price? A fresh side salad. no gross wilty lettuce and mush tomato, ok. house balsamic dressing ok. I got excited. So far so good… then I opened the box and voila topped with fresh warm pita triangles and tucked nicely on a bed of flavorful white rice were 2 chicken kebabs expertly seasoned and cooked. The chicken was moist and delicious and tucked in there as well was a fresh hummus and tzatziki sauce… ohh LALA. The flavor value and product get a 10 from me. Very happy. I vow to return with my burger savy husband Neville H. For a burger and fry review. but I think next time I’m going to try the mixed grill. Great job guys!!!

Just walked in, the only person in the place. The young lady working as the cashier didn’t great me, ask what I want, tell me to go kick rocks. Nothing! The food may be good but the initial impression of service was terrible. I turned around and walked out.

Extra Napkin is full of extra surprises! In addition to great burgers and build your own salads, there’s a raw juice bar(the orange, apple, carrot, banana, kiwi and honey with optional ginger shot was amazing) and fantastic milkshakes! Try the Fantastic Four– blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, blackberry with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup! Kebabs were served with rice, humus, a tasty yogurt sauce and house salad. Everything is cooked to order. Presentation was great. A strawberry milkshake made with fresh strawberries was topped with whipped cream and creatively arranged heart shaped sliced strawberries. A unique restaurant definitely worth exploring! You can also purchase and personalize a small padlock to hang on the wall at Extra Napkin! Another extra surprise!

I knew we were on to someplace interesting when the day after we settled on where to go for lunch the local newspaper published a review of the place. Extra Napkin is mostly a takeout place. They’ve got a couple of tables that will each seat 2 or 3 people, and there are 4 or 5 stools at a counter overlooking the parking lot and Delaware Ave. The kitchen is open to the entire eating area. The last business here was a takeout pizza place if that helps to give you a feel for the ambiance(or lack thereof). There is a pretty wide variety of items to choose from including the obvious fast food appetizers(e.g., onion rings, chicken fingers, wings, tater tots, etc.), sandwiches & wraps, hot dogs, salads(both house-planned and build-your-own), kebabs, and burgers(again, both hours-planned and build-your-own). Beverages include a raw juice bar, coffee, and soda(mostly Mexican made with real sugar). No alcoholic beverages are available. I decided to go with the in-house designed burger, the Albany($ 6,99), with a hand-shaped patty, caramelized onions, mushrooms, pickles, pepper jack cheese, and the house made Extra Napkin sauce, all served on a toasted brioche roll. I also opted to add Fries for $ 2. The roll was soft and fresh. I don’t recall being asked how I wanted my burger cooked, so it came out medium, but it had a nice crust. I can’t say it was dry though, because the Extra Napkin sauce provided an adequate amount of moisture, in addition to flavor with a bit of a bite. My only weak spot in this burger was that the onions were stringy when you took a bite. Otherwise, this was a very good tasting and enjoyable burger. The fries were average. I decided to try a raw juice drink($ 5.99/$ 12 oz.; $ 6.99÷16 oz.) for something totally different. The number SEVEN is a mix of orange and carrot juice with ginger. It certainly was very colorful and it gave me the feeling that I was enjoying something healthy along with my burger and fries. My lunch partner ordered the Troy wrap($ 8.59), turkey breast, turkey bacon, romaine lettuce, shredded cheddar, avocado, tomatoes, red onions, and ranch dressing. He was pleased with his choice and took half home. The staff are nice and friendly, the place is very clean. I’m likely to stop back some day to try the kebabs.

Another day, another gourmet burger shop. Extra Napkin of Delmar is a welcomed addition to an area that seems to rely on pizza as its only take out option. I came to Extra Napkin for lunch in February 2016, about two months from its opening and it seems like the business is starting to pick up. I ordered the Albany Burger, which came served on a brioche bun and topped with grilled onions, lettuce, cheese, and the shop’s signature sauce. The patty was cooked to about medium, maybe a bit closer to medium well. As others have noted, the patty is quite dense and likely the result of over pressing. I picked up on subtle Middle Eastern flavors throughout the patty, but none were so overpowering to definitively identify. Extra Napkin’s signature sauce was quite good. The tomato based sauce is a nice counterpoint to the savory patty and gobs of melted cheese on the burger. The only issue is that the sauce made the delicious brioche bun a bit soft causing the patty and toppings to slide out with each bite. Despite this, this was a mostly solid burger that I’d consider ordering again. In addition to burgers, Extra Napkin offers wraps, sandwiches, salads, and kebabs. Of the kebabs, one of the employees noted that the kebab plate is their most ordered and beloved dish. I will return to Extra Napkin because I think it has great potential. If you’re in the area and are looking for some quick takeout that isn’t pizza, Extra Napkin is the place.

Ok, so here is another perfect review! So the bride and I are out running errands(I’m along for the ride because I like the company!). She sees this place before and decides today is the day we try it out. We were not disappointed! Step up to the counter and order your meal and it will be delivered to your table in a timely manner. I had a HUGE salad with the best grilled chicken I’ve had in some time! The bride had the mixed roll kebobs with rice, several sauces and a small salad. Per her reviewing expertise«this is really good!» As for the décor, clean and simple with an emphasis on cleanliness. We will definitely be back!

Friend and I stopped in for an early dinner. We both found the burger to be a delicious burger. Seems like the other Unilocalers have taken issues with the amount of sauce, size of bun, density!?, OK folks, let’s settle down a bit. It’s a good burger. Not blown away but good. Service at the counter is very good but it wasn’t busy so not really a gauge. The fries are thicker cut than the«benchmark» shoestring from across the street(McD’s). As is the case with so many restaurants, eat your fries first and fast cause when they get cold… it’s off to the waste bin. Since they are just ok, eat very fast. I wish I could find those heavenly fries I used to get at the bowling ally as a kid! This restaurant is still a good option in Delmar. We really need some variety. It just seems that Delmar can’t support its businesses as we have lost some really good places like the Thai restaurant next door. I wish them luck cause it could prove hard to make it a go. The mid range rating is mostly based on the cost. Two burgers, one order of fries and one soda, one water: 20 bucks. Seems a little high for what it is.

Ordered take out. Should have called ahead. They were a little overwhelmed. They forgot an item. They offered to deliver but I wasn’t sure how long that would take so I came back and it was ready when I arrived with a free order of cookies and sincere apologies. Other then this issue I was very pleased with the food quality. Husband got a make your own burger and reported no bun to burger ratio issues or patty density issues(see other user review issues). I had the Glenmont salad and subbed a different dressing. All ingredients were crisp and fresh. Grilled chicken was delicious and tender. Child got chicken fingers and fries. Chicken was clearly not freezer food; it was tasty and tender. I’m pretty skeptical of take out fries but these held up well to a steamy container and were very flavorful. All in all pretty good and a nice addition to the Delmar area. I would eat this again and give a second chance. Hopefully the kinks of being newly opened will work themselves out.

If you’re having a burger craving and don’t want to go to a FF Chain and can’t for the life of you find a good burger place to go to… then this will do. So first the burger. The place was empty except me and my buddy and the workers. I ordered a burger with onions, cheese and wanted lettuce on it instead of mushrooms and an order of fries. My friend’s order was similar and simple. The food took a long time to come out. The burger looked big on the tray and once unwrapped from its foil and I got mostly bun in my first bite. Evidently it slid to the other side of the oversized bun to avoid being bitten. The small burger itself was over cooked and dry with no lettuce on it. There was nothing special or distinctive about this burger and I could not see why they called the place Extra Napkin at all! The fries were probably good quality but limp and the count was adequate but they showed up in an oversized container which made the portion look small. The condiment bottles were nearly empty so I had to do the old palm pound and shake with them. If you want a great burger then this isn’t the place compared to the ample burger availability in the Albany/Delmar area. The burger, fries and bottle of diet coke came to a bit under $ 13.00

I thought my burger was good, but certainly not 5 stars and it could be a lot better if they rectify couple of odd choices. The cheese was nicely melted. The beef patty had a flavorful dark brown crust. It was well seasoned, I could taste lots of salt and pepper, which I like. I agree with James J. that it was dense, but it wasn’t chewy, it was tender enough. My guess is they are using a burger press to make the patties, and they’re pressing the hell out of the thing. Another other issue I had with the burger is the bun was way too large. My burger was all bun. The beef patty was about half the size of the bun, and I ended up throwing out half an empty bun. The bun needs to be MUCH smaller. My burger also had tons of their signature sauce on it. The sauce is good, with a nice vinegary kick, but there was so much of it, it overwhelmed the sandwich. I guess that’s where the extra napkin comes in, because I definitely needed lots of napkins to wipe the sauce off my face and hands. I ordered the«Albany» which also comes with mushrooms and onions, but I couldn’t taste them under all that sauce. I ordered fries, and they were very average. Save yourself the calories and don’t bother with them. The burger as is, is good. But if they just were to use smaller buns, less sauce, and a lighter hand when making the patties, I think their burger would be very good, maybe excellent even.

I went to extra napkin yesterday to try their burger. I was not impressed. I ordered the Delmar burger with no pickles. It looked impressive when it came out but it was a little salty when I bit into it. Then I took a second bite and realized that the burger was raw on the inside. I don’t mind pink in the middle but raw is definitely not safe. Also, the burger was much too small for the bun it was on, and with a name like extra napkin, it should be easier to find a napkin but they only had one napkin holder in the place. With all the burger places popping up in the area, I don’t think I will be visiting here again.

A co-worker and myself went to check this new burger place out today for lunch. I was very pleased to see a different burger offering in the Delmar’hood for variety sake. Extra Napkin’s menu is nice with offerings ranging from garlic knot appetizers(6 for $ 3.99) to $ 10.99 lamb kebabs and a raw juice bar. The menu is also made up of the requisite burgers BUT with local names like the Delmar, Albany and Lark or for healthier fare, there’s salads called the Slingerlands, Latham and Glenmont… sorry no Guilderland yet. Burgers and salads are both offered in a «build your own» style as well. The store front looks nice and inviting with parking right in front or a larger parking lot next door. Inside Extra Napkins is very clean, since it’s only been open since Friday, the place is spotless. It has a nice whimsical art décor with comic book art on one wall. A few pub tables upfront and more seating just around were the raw juice bar is. Now we both had the Delmar burger, hand roasted natural ground beef patty, romaine, double cheeses, tomatoes, onions, pickles, extra napkin sauce. I will never claim to be a foodie nor the smartest in a room(even if I am), but«hand roasted beef», I wasn’t sure and google did no better. For $ 6.99 this was a good size burger, unlike those you find in places like Burger 21. The burger itself was dense in texture, not thick. It was odd to me, not bad tasting, tho’ it had a flavor I couldn’t place maybe it was the Extra Napkin sauce. You can have it served on a brioche like we did, sesame or hard roll. The real disappointment was the fries. In my eyes but mainly my taste buds McDonalds fries are the benchmark, Extra Napkin fries aren’t even close. My co-worker in contrast liked her burger and had no issue with the«dense» texture of the burger. Although I’m giving this place 2 stars(my co-worker would give her burger 4 stars) I will try it again… I like buying local and the front counter service was great. So go try it for yourself, I’d like to hear what others think of the burger texture.
