This place looks like the food would be bad, do not let that fool you… this place is awesome!

This is my ultimate favorite Chinese place! I can’t eat actually at the location because it’s so quiet and I can hear people chewing and I’m just weird about that BUT the food is hands down the BEST Chinese in the area! It’s not overly breaded or sauced… It’s flavorful and delicate and doled out in sizeable portions. Also, when you order take out and they say 20 minutes… It’s REALLY20 minutes. No extra waiting. Gotta love that! I wish that I wasn’t so crazy about mouth noises and ice against glass noises that I could dine there because the staff is friendly but there needs to be more background noise… Some music or something.

Dear Orchid Asian Fusion, Let me preface this review by stating that it is not my intention to harm the reputation of your restaurant, and that the following information is only meant to help you improve its quality: I stopped in tonight on a whim as I’ve been curious about your restaurant for a while. The entire place was empty, save for one boisterous couple. I was seated quickly in a booth next to a window that was noticeably dirty. The woman that waited on me was pleasant enough, though she seemed tired. The crispy noodles were not fresh and the duck sauce tasted a bit sour. I ordered a Chef’s Special appetizer, the Crispy Duck Roll($ 7) which lived up to its name of being both crispy and containing duck, but came off as greasy and bland, even with the sweet chili sauce. The Pad Tou Kak with chicken($ 13) was also quite greasy, rubbery, and overly salty, as well as cold in some parts like it may have been microwaved. The garnishes of a carrot flower, sliced cucumbers, orange slices and cherry pieces did nothing to enhance the dish. The miso soup that came with the entrée was all but forgettable. The fortune cookie also tasted weird, though I found the fortune ironic — «Quality is not expensive. It is priceless.» I was disappointed overall with this meal having spent $ 20 on food that at best was a poor imitation of Thai cuisine. Perhaps I should have tried the sushi or Chinese. Honestly, would you eat any of the food I was served? My advice would be to concentrate of one type of cuisine instead of three, or better yet, cook what you yourself would eat. I would have loved to have a more authentic Thai meal instead of ‘fusion’, especially since there are no other restaurants serving that type of food in the area. More importantly, take pride in what you serve — then you might have more customers at dinner time.

Judging from the other reviews, this place had better stick to their so-called sushi in hopes to palm it off as at least«better than» other South Jersey options(which, though funny at the expense of Jersey, is also a lie, by the bye). At any rate, I made the mistake of ordering from both the«chef specialties» and the«thai» menu: both dishes were wretched. I tried one bite of each and sent them back, paid my bill(which they insisted upon), and left, feeling glad to have wasted only time and money and not my appetite as well. Salt-and-pepper shrimp had clearly been fried earlier in the day(or the day previous?!) and simply reheated when I ordered(were these«tempura» shrimp at the ready for sushi rolls? repurposed for another dish?)– they tasted stale and fishy, I don’t think a szechuan pepper-corn had been harmed in the making of this«dish.» The«pad thai» was sopping wet and over-cooked, tasting more of sulfur than tamarind, palm sugar or salt. I should have stayed home and made my own. «Fusion» it is not. Failure it is.

Orchid is a delightful oasis for Japanese, Chinese and Thai Food in the hinterlands of NJ. I thought that once I moved to the area I was going to have to give up getting decent food of this type, but I was wrong. While the sushi selection is a bit more limited than I might like, it is always good… even the eel.(Which I find to often to be of poor quality in NJ, for some reason.) The place has tablecloths, good ambiance, EXCELLENTSERVICE, and the food is good and plentiful with excellent garnishes, and even brown rice. The waiter we usually have, Joe, remembers my special diet needs without even having to be reminded, and the whole experience is just great. And… all of this at incredibly reasonable prices. Yes, there are a few much more expensive sushi places within a reasonable drive, but I see no need to double my bill to have the option to order a few exotic things I can’t get there. If only they delivered!!!

Does this restaurant serve the diverse, authentic selections of Thai, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine that you can find in a major city? No. This is an Asian fusion restaurant, and as such, it has Americanized versions of southeast Asian food. That being said, it is a good Asian fusion restaurant that I really enjoy. The service in the restaurant is always excellent, and I really like that it’s family-owned and run. The menus have the typical Asian fusion selections, plus a few more adventurous options that are worth trying. Their sushi is fresh and flavorful, and their(American) Chinese food is excellent and not greasy. This is one of the few Chinese restaurants that doesn’t give me a migraine from MSG content(so yay!). The General Tso’s bean curd is fabulous. One of my favorite parts of any Asian fusion restaurant is their lunch special menu, and Orchid doesn’t disappoint here(although, like other restaurants, this is only available M-F and isn’t valid on holidays). The atmosphere is relaxed/casual but nice and clean. There are plenty of tables in this restaurant, and it’s much nicer inside than it appears from the street. This is one of my favorite local restaurants. I’ve been going here for years and plan to keep coming back.

I used to get take-out from here pretty frequently., almost every day. The staff has always been extremely nice. Food used to be very high quality, and their sushi reasonably priced… Something happened over the last few years, though, and the food quality has been dropping, unfortunately(even got cold food a few times). Unfortunately since then, i’ve found another Chinese place to order from… Would consider going back if they get their kitchen straightened out.

Took the family here as part of their Christmas Gifts. Orchid Asian Fusion never disappoints. This was the first time for my son’s girlfriend, and she loved it. Try the Black Pepper Beef-it is amazing!!! It is somewhat set back on Route 130 South(across from Target and Chili’s) but it’s worth finding. The interior is cozy with white tablecloths and great service. Orchid has been our«go to» spot for Chinese, Thai and Japanese(the sushi is fresh with amazing presentation) for the past 6 years or so. Great food and service every time!

Our favorite Chinese place was Bo’s Wok. We were really upset when it shut down. But we discovered this place which is a very close 2nd place! Have ordered takeout multiple times now. Everything has been hot, fresh and yummy. Oh and they do have fried wonton even though it’s not on the menu :)

I’ve lived nearby my whole life, and never knew this restaurant was here because its curbside appearance is quite rundown. However, don’t let that fool you. This place is great and I will definitely be back. Firstly, the service was great. A waitress came to hold the door for my sister who is on crutches. There were no other customers so we were able to sit where we wanted. Right after being seated we were given complimentary chips and duck sauce and a spicy mustard to dip. — the Asian fusion version of chips and salsa. We got an order of the Crispy Duck Rolls to start. It’s like a duck spring roll, filled with a ton of great flavors and served with a sweet and spicy chili sauce. We didn’t care for the seaweed bits on top but they were easy enough to remove. I ordered the General Tso chicken and my sister got the vegetable Pad Thai. My sister previously lived in San Francisco for a year and fell in love with the Pad Thai while there. Since moving back home, she has complained of the lack of good Pad Thai in the area. She was extremely happy with this Pad Thai and said she would order it again. She did get it spicy and said it was a bit more spicy that what she would’ve liked. So if you don’t like spicy get it plain. My chicken was great and came with a side of plain white rice. The chicken was crispy and there was plenty of sauce and it was actually a bit spicy. I find that any time I order General Tso chicken it is never even slightly spicy. I love spicy foods, but the heat level probably wouldn’t be bad for even timid eaters. After the chips and dip and the appetizer we were too full to finish our entrees. The portions are huge and very reasonably priced. Our total was just over $ 34 for the two of us, but without ordering sodas or an appetizer we could have easily kept it below $ 30 maybe even less. Again the service was great. We never had to ask for refills on our water or sodas. The waiter even asked about how my sister hurt her foot. We asked the waitress(we had both a man and a woman take care of us) what was in the Pad Thai because there was something I didn’t like in it, and she was happy to help us figure it out. We can’t wait to go back and try their sushi.

My wife and I recently re-located from Philadelphia to Cinnaminson, and in our quest to find our new local go-to places, gave Orchid a shot. Let me comment first by saying that our favorite foods are predominantly thai, sushi, and chinese, that my wife and I are veterans of the restaurant industry, and that we’ve traveled extensively and eaten these foods at a myriad of places all across the globe. Orchid is AWESOME. The thai food is great, specifically the tom yum soup, and I had the pad thai, which wasn’t the BEST I’ve ever had, but it was really good, and I won’t mind eating it on a regular basis. Last night, we ordered sesame chicken, chicken lo mein, and wonton soup. The sesame chicken is not greasy and tastes extremely fresh, the lo mein had vegetables in it which were obviously cut specifically to throw in the dish, and the wontons had actual roasted pork in them and not just the usual ‘meat filler’ type stuff you find at most places. One good meal is a good thing, but two usually means a place is reliable. I highly recommend Orchid, and will continue to dine here regularly while we are living in the area. Oh, also, the prices are AWESOME!

I can only comment on the Chinese portion of their menu. I’ve gotten takeout a few times from Orchid and to me, it was very, very solid Americanized Chinese food. The portions were very large and I thought the egg roll and soup were typical of most Chinese takeout places. But I must admit, I enjoyed their pork fried rice and I really liked their chicken and broccoli as well as their sweet & sour chicken. I agree with the previous poster who commented that if they were able to spruce up the exterior of the restaurant; that it could be really beneficial for them in terms of foot traffic. Don’t let the looks of this place fool you … the food is pretty good.

I ordered takeout from Orchid a few weeks ago, and I wasn’t blown away. I was a spontaneous walk-in(having been denied from Hunan’s, as it was a Monday), and although the décor was nice, the place was dead, perhaps, again, because it was a Monday. I waited about fifteen minutes for the food, which I thought was a reasonable amount of time. I got the sweet and sour chicken platter, which also came with pork fried rice, a spring roll, and soup. The price was insanely good for that much food, but unfortunately the quality just wasn’t what I was looking for. The spring roll was warm, but it was like it had been frozen in some past life, and the sweet and sour chicken was not particularly sweet or sour. The rice was heavier and greasier than most fried rice and the pork was just not appetizing– I’ve had better. The egg drop soup was about as good as egg drop soup gets at Chinese-American restaurants, though.

This is okay they don’t do anything particularly well, I think they should refocus on one food instead of trying to make all these dishes 2 star. They have so much on the menu but none of it tastes great. Avoid the Thai on the menu too its bad the place is mostly Chinese.

From its incredible menu variety, to quality of ingredients, to its friendly and attentive staff, this place is a complete gem. Small and unassuming, the exterior doesn’t even NEARLY do the food or its staff any justice. My family and I have sampled their Chinese items and have proclaimed them the best we have had in years! They use heaps of vegetables and they are never soggy or overlooked. Their meat is always done to perfection and the seafood is always a healthy portion! Their sushi is also fantastic although it tends to be better dining in than delivery. That isn’t their fault, though. Raw cold fish doesn’t always travel well but it is always fresh tasting. The portions are generous and always hits my craving in its sweet spot. They have recently started delivering which is heaven on earth to me as a busy, work-at-home mom. I would recommend them to anyone in the area. You will not be disappointed!

Upsides: Super friendly folks — attentive wait staff, a wide variety of vegetarian options & they are happy to substitute/change to make the dishes vegan(they have a tasty general tso bean curd without travelling to Philly!), fresh sushi(with several non-fish choices), the dining room has quieter side & louder side — which is nice when you’re there with children(or without), fast delivery. This place is our go-to for healthier quick dinner — it’s consistantly good. Only one downside: I really wish the building outside were cleaner looking. They’d get more traffic if curb appeal was greater.

We are seriously lacking when it comes to good Chinese food around here. Since there is a void of authenticity anyway, I usually just end up getting the General Tso’s wherever I go… It’s a safe choice if you don’t try to pretend you’re actually eating in China. That said, if I’m in the mood for Chinese food, I’m probably getting it from Orchid. The General’s chicken(which I requested with white meat only) I received during my visit was piping hot, with a perfectly non-soggy coating, and ladled with just the right amount of sauce. The wonton soup and egg rolls were also good, but standard. Service was quick and friendly. BONUS: Orchid has recently begun to deliver, bumping my A-OK up to a Yay!
