Weak sauce. I know it’s Delray, which is notorious for overpriced average food and drinks. But this was just silly. The wine pours were teeny and $ 9. The food was about the worst«seafood» I’ve seen at a seafood fest in all of FL. We ditched the event after and hour, numerous plates of sad food and went to J&J’s Seafood for dinner which is an awesome place. Free admission? Neat. How about paid admission, with samples you can get from anywhere at no additional charge and food that isn’t quite so poorly executed. I’ll definitely skip this next year. I expect more from Delray. The green market is a joke too.

The event has gotten smaller, and this year the food tents are on A1 A opposite the restaurants at the end of Atlantic. The entertainment is great, the crowd is fun and there’s a beautiful breeze off the ocean. The other change requires the purchase of one of their special plastic wine tumblers for $ 5, which makes the cost of a glass of House wine $ 14. I would be OK with that except it’s a very stingy pour that is scrutinized by their supervisors probably only 4 to 5 ounces. Next year if I go to the seafood Festival I will skip the fried clams and shrimp and the overpriced stingy pores of wine and patronize the local restaurants where I will get better, healthier food choices without having to eat standing up and and honest glass of chilled wine.

I had high hopes for this Festival. I read the advertisement and description of the event and invited a few of my friends out to Delray Beach. Well, after 30 minutes at this Wine & Seafood Festival, we ended up spending the rest of the evening at Sandbar. The raggae playing band was the highlight of the Festival. Not the food or wine. The over priced seafood ordinary at best. One of my friends ordered a plate of fish + yellow rice + fried cod? The? because he couldn’t make heads or tails(ha ha) of the fish kind. $ 15 bucks for his plate. For glasses of wine, they force you into purchasing a plastic commemorative glass. So the first glass is $ 13 and every other glass from then on is $ 9. I passed on the pricey promo and settled for a $ 6 can of Strongbow Apple Cider Beer. To be fair, there was no admission fee. So the food and drink prices should come to no surprise. I would prefer, however, to pay like $ 20-$ 25 upfront and get tickets for various samples and drinks. Or at least feel like I’m getting a decent deal. All in all was crowded, hectic, and not worth the trip. However, with cool beach bars within shouting distance, and Downtown Delray, all was not lost. Delray Beach is a cool spot, with or without a cool Seafood & Wine Festival.

Two walking blocks of disappointment near the water in downtown Delray. The free admission was the only good quality of the event. Various vendors including ones selling knives and outdoor showers. One area for food vendors serving everything from lobster rolls to kettle corn. Three designated tents to purchase glasses of wine. One of those tents is the«high end» wine area. An additional tent for scheduled tastings. This is how it works. The first glass is $ 14($ 24 for high end) which includes the plastic stemless wine glass frosted with the event logo. Additional pours are $ 9 each. They provide tickets. They offer what they call«Sips» for $ 3 each. Now these sips were barely a sniff, a rip off for the price. The wine selection was limited at maybe 10 – 12 brands. The tips to the servers go to charity. They should have guided the servers on the appropriate pour. We bought into the ticketed non-sense but ended up eating at one of the restaurants within the parameters of the event. I would not recommend the event.
