The first time I had the pleasure of trying this fine line of boutique cigars was at a cigar lounge in Los Angeles and then again at a hip cigar event at some swanky restaurant in Miami. And when Herrera Cigars, the makers of La Caridad del Cobre, launched their Frank Herrera’s Biography line, I really looked forward to trying it and knew it would not disappoint. The new Biography is made at Abe Flores’ Pinar Del Rio factory in the Dominican Republic. While Biography is made by Abe, it was blended by Frank Herrera himself. Biography comes in three sizes: Robusto, Toro & Gordisimo. The cigars feature a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper with a Dominican binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. This blend was made specially for the maduro smoker and for the price, this line is an excellent choice! I really enjoyed the Frank Herrera Biography Robusto which has an intense aroma and after lighting it, flavors of coffee, chocolate, leather and cinnamon tantalized my palate. I had to let my brother try since he is the true cigar aficionado so I purchased three boxes for him last Christmas. He’s down to his last few cigars and cannot stop talking about how Biography is one of his all time favorites of his collection! Aromas Cigar & Wine Bar up here in Jacksonville is special ordering me a few boxes and I look forward to having Herrera Cigars available closer to home. If you are lucky enough to acquire and experience this line, you’re going to want to make sure you always have them on hand! :) ***HERRERABIOGRAPHY Robusto — 5″ x 52 Toro — 6″ x 54 Gordisimo 6″ x 60 La Caridad del Cobre Frank Herrera has been involved in the cigar industry for 10 years, first as a trademark lawyer and now with his own brand. He is one of the only trademark attorneys to stand up to Cuba’s cigar monopoly. Most of the cases that he represents against Cuba’s cigar monopoly are on a pro bono basis. After years of fighting Cuba with little or no resources(or help), Frank started : a website dedicated to chronicling the cigar trademark wars between US brand owners and Cuba’s cigar monopoly. started as a simple way to document these fights, but is now read by most industry insiders as a source and reference for cigar trademark disputes. About the brand: La Caridad Del Cobre is Cuba’s Patron Saint. She is the only thing constant about Cuban culture. Since the beginning of her appearance which is thought to begin in 1608, Cuba has experienced many changes. However, for over 400 years Cuba’s Patron Saint represents the strength and resolve of the Cuban people, whether they live in Cuba, in exile, or wherever they may be in the world. Our cigars are made in the Cuban tradition, designed and produced by Cubans living in exile. While we may not live in Cuba, the tradition of quality cigar making continues and we want to share it with you.
