Way to go Papa’s Tapas. My favorite spot for the past 4 years or so. I’ve been telling people about Chef«Papa» Cristobal since he found his way to Pineapple Grove in Delray in 2012. How many times I’ve started a sentence describing he food by saying, «Papa, quien hace comida como mi abuela…» which is about as high an accolade I could make in reference to restaurant. His chorizo is just amazing. He makes«Salsa Verde» that my mother, una Gallega, would have loved. And a Torilla Español that always demands I take an extra slice home. Congratulations to Papa, Susie, Annie and Yvette on the spectacular review. Nobody deserves it more.

My family and I decided to try Papa’s Tapas for lunch today and were blown away by outstanding Spanish Tapas, Paella(which we are huge fans and experts) and great service and friendly owners. We will be going back soon and often.

We chose Papa’s Tapas based on the various Unilocal reviews and they did not disappoint. This is a restaurant that focuses more on quality than quantity. The ingredients were fresh and the taste was incredible. From the gulf shrimp to the mahi, even the sauteed vegetables, everything was great!

This is an amazing place in Delray! I recommend this Spanish tapas restaurant to tourists and locals. I was recently visiting friends and family and had dined here twice! Our first time dining here was a small tapas meal of olives, pollo al ajillo, and octopus in garlic and white wine sauce. It was delicious and we knew we wanted to come back before we left. So we came back! We went on a Thursday night and they had live music playing. It wasn’t loud and added a nice ambiance. This time I came with a relative and my fiancé. We ordered about 7 dishes off their tapas menu. We even went with their special for the evening which was pork on top of a remoulade and on a tostone. It was scrumptious! The three of us shared a bottle of their white Rioja wine. It was delicious and paired well with all the dishes we ordered. We had shrimp, empanadas, olives, chicken, sausage and more. Each dish is cooked to perfection. Their cold tapas is artfully arranged and tastes great too. The severs bring the food as it is prepared. You get a basket of bread that has pieces for every person sitting at your table. It’s made fresh and is constantly brought to you if you wish to dip it in their homemade sauce or in the delicious olive oil sauces that most of the dishes are prepared in. Every dish is fragrant and full of flavor. We ordered a dessert of tres leches cake. It was sweet, moist, and delicious. They even offer Cuban coffee for those who can’t partake in the desserts but want to end the night with something sweet. Everyone seems to enjoy the atmosphere. The staff are friendly, efficient, and love to interact with the patrons. I enjoyed knowing they had Spanish wines and beers to serve along with popular name brands. If I was a local I would be here every week! If you want a place with a great vibe, delicious food, and cool artwork I recommend this place!

Let’s just start with the tomato dipping sauce called ‘tomago’ they serve with fresh warm bread to start washed down with a crisp, Spanish draft beer. Next, try some of their tapas! We had the roast pork tonight. Simply delish. For the main course we shared the cilantro mango chicken that was served with yellow rice, black beans and sweet plantains. Every bite left you wanting more. I can’t forget their happy hour either — their chicken quesadilla is a guilty pleasure. A hidden treasure in pineapple grove of Delray beach !

Want delicious food and service? Over the hustle and bustle of Atlantic Ave? Steps away on 2nd Ave lives Papa’s Tapas. This is an amazing spot — each dish has its own character to adhere to every type of customer. It’s authentic Spanish cuisine that you won’t find anywhere else in Delray Beach. The owner, Annie is incredibly accommodating and hospitable. Get the fiesta wrap with chicken!

Garlic overload. Our first 3 tapas(which were server recommended) killed our tastebuds. Too much garlic & almost tasted burnt. Wish I could enjoy the others after… but took too long for anything to come out including beverages. We weren’t in any hurry but went too long without beers/sangria to make up for food. Entrees looked better on other tables, maybe that’s what we should have done…

What an amazing place, started the warm welcome and caring staff. To top that the food is simple amazing and so tasteful. Been looking for a place like this for a very long time. The place is very clean. Make sure to order sangria.

Some of the best tapas I’ve ever had. They pay amazing attention to the detail of their dishes. All seasoned perfectly. I recommend the empanadas and croquet platter as well as the palomilla sandwhich.

Really cozy interior and the service was great! The food was much better than expected just because tapas isn’t big in SoFlo. The meatballs are deliciously soft and their empanadas and croquettes are perfect! Even their fries are special. Definitely worth going to! White sangria was sweet and tasty.

Hadn’t been there in a while and I noticed the mom is no longer in the kitchen and it shows. This place use to be standing room only and unfortunately now the food was bland and the sangria was average. Very disappointed!

We went to Papa’s Tapa’s tonight and had a great time. We did tapas rather than ordering from the main menu and it was great! Delicious mushrooms, croquettes and Serrano ham. Desserts were phenomenal. Sooo this would have been 5 stars except, when it came time to pay, it took forever to get the bill and even longer for someone to come and take the credit cards. Since what appeared to be the manager, seemed to be wandering around doing nothing much, this was particularly annoying. Getting paid would, you would think, be something the restaurant would want to happen so having to hang about till someone decided they could pay attention to us was particularly annoying. There was a large party there but, really, they need to figure out a way to deal with the patrons who have their credit cards at the ready! We will give the one more chance but if we can’t get someone take care of us next time, that’s the end of it.

My name is Robert and I was there Thursday 12⁄31 at 5pm I have been eating Mriscada for the last 25 years in NY and NJ I must say I never had such a horrible meal. The couple of scallopos were smaller than peanuts the dish only had 1 clam the diner consisted of a large portion of calamari The so called green sauce was adequate The waitress was excellent but people were coming over every minute to clear the table Vivian B is my wife her meal was just about adequate

No no no. Overrated. Why is there no hostess stand? People get jumbled right in the doorway making it extremely awkward. You feel like the last kid picked in gym class waiting around for your table. Too loud to enjoy your food. Tables don’t turn fast enough. Food wasn’t anything special but I am a firm believer that some places you have to order the right food. I ordered the meatballs, sweet peas, and grilled calamari. Don’t order. The only thing good about the food is that it’s perfectly portioned and the sangria isn’t bad. Won’t be back.

You know what they say, «fool me once …» We were hungry when we walked in. We ordered big — our mistake. The food was lacking in flavor — period, end of statement. Wait staff was friendly, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that there was almost no flavor to anything. Paella Marinara — devoid of flavor, no seafood taste, not even salty. Rolls — bland, white rolls that looked like they didn’t rise properly and then came out of the oven too soon. Chorizo — bland. Who ever heard of chorizo with no taste? Pork empanadas — flavorless, empanada wrap tasted like it should have been on an egg roll. Pulled pork open faced sandwich(roasted shredded pork Montaditos) — OK, a bit salty — but the best thing we ate. Sangria was OK. Bottom line, we are not returning.

Did Papas Tapas sell? Must have! This was certainly a great eatery. Tapas were pretty amazing. Not at this last visit. We were confident our group was going to enjoy every bite, but sadly everything was Tapas, no taste. Watery and greasy. Paella, awful!!! We were embarrassed since we bragged about it to our friends. The best thing on our table was the beer and thankfully they don’t make that.

Unilocalers, what are you talking about? This is the worst tapas restaurant I have ever been to. I really can’t believe that any of the raters have ever had real tapas or perhaps they are paid reviews? I went with my parents and we had the papas potatoes which were awful. The clams were NOT fresh. The bacaditos were ok. Honestly, even dessert was bad and that’s hard to do. The best part was the bread and spread that came with it. I am baffled that this place has this rating — Unilocalers, you did me wrong on this one.

Pretty place with nice décor but very cheap chairs that are not amazingly comfortable. ½ star down. Food is exceptionally prepared but has a sameness of flavor that shouldn’t happen at a tapas restaurant. A lot of the tapas plates work from the same flavor palette. Nothing smoky or seductive. Star down. Service is friendly but two wait staff cover too many places at the same time and team service isn’t working well. Heaven help if they were super busy. Serrano ham, pulled pork and empanadas were faves. Wings are a pass.

This place is AMAZING! I will admit that when we first arrived, I was a bit skeptical. It is located in sort of a strip mall and is a little small on the inside. However, once you get in, the people and the restaurant are so inviting. I was in the mood for paella on a 24-hour stay in West Palm Beach. This place was No. 1 on a list of top five places to get paella near West Palm Beach. It did NOT disappoint! We ordered it about 30 min before we arrived and they took my credit card number to order the paella in advance, which is totally understandable. The Paella Valencia(traditional paella) is $ 24/pp with a 2-person minimum. For an extra $ 2/pp you can get an order with lobster tail. We got the one with lobster tail and OMG was it delicious! I’ve had paella from Spain and this is some of the best I’ve had in the states. The service here is EXCEPTIONAL! Drinks were kept full, bread basket(which is REALLY good) was always refilled. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our waiter got us to try the tapas special which was a grouper wrapped in bacon and grilled with bbq sauce. That was phenomenal! The manager and the chef each came and spoke to us about our meal to which we had nothing but positive things to say. Whenever i come back to South Florida, I am definitely coming back here!

I love coming to this restaurant when I visit Delray. Let me say first that the atmosphere here is great. It doesn’t look too fancy from the outside but it’s always inviting and fun once you get inside. The staff is extremely friendly and personable. Get to know Annie, the manager, as she always takes time to get to know her guests even when the restaurant is packed! There is also lots of cool artwork on the walls to look at while you are waiting for your food and enjoying a refreshing glass of sangria(definitely get the sangria). Okay, now let’s get down to business: the food. They have a great selection of Spanish inspired dishes to choose from. The tapas menu seems like it changes quite a bit but I usually enjoy the empanadas. For an entrée, I am a sucker for seafood and I especially enjoy their Cazuela dishes and of course the Paella. You really can’t go wrong here as every dish I’ve tried here has been outstanding.

First timer, ducked in with Marnie the business partner for a business meeting and was I glad I did, here’s why: * Cool, bright, cheery, red, artsy décor * Papa was strolling around outside the kitchen in the dining room * Small and cozy * Full liquor * Excellent, friendly, knowledgeable service! We started with the Olivia’s Cazuelita appetizer. See photo: $ 17 for a appetizer bowl of shrimp, scallops, calamari, mushrooms, and chorizo sauteed in garlic, white wine, and olive oil. It’s a popular menu item that comes out of the kitchen HOT and sweetly sizzling. And it tastes amazing. Can’t wait to have it again. 3 lil breadsticks accompany, so you can sop. SCORE! I had the«Chicken Special»(name forgotten) for $ 13 bucks. Chicken breast grilled with black beans, yellow rice, and fried plantains. Cheese, red onions, and garlic were melted atop the chicken and it was a hit. Marnie enjoy Chicharrones de Pollo and they were quite tasty. I plan to return soon and sample mas tapas. Vino tambien. I shall report more then. Cabeza OUT!

I really love this place! The food is very tasty and service is great as well. I have been here a few times for lunch and we were finally able to go last Saturday for Valentine’s Day! We had the Paella which was amazing! Please note that they recommend you make reservations for the Paella since they make it fresh for you and you don’t have to wait a long time when you arrive. While we waited for our Paella, we enjoyed wine, house made sangria which I loved and we had the coconut shrimp appetizer. For all the times we have been to Papa’s Tapas I haven’t had a dish that I did not enjoy. Very good always and great service! We will be returning soon!
