Really enjoyed this place and looking forward to going back in nicer weather! Yes, there was a $ 5 cover because of the band, but for that money we got entered into a raffle for cash and gift certificates, and got a buffet bbq dinner! This is their regular routine on Wednesday nights. The owner is a hunter, and when he gets something good, he shares it with his customers! The menu is different every week. We had two meats last night, chicken and pork, as well as corn, asparagus, and a huge salad! The corn was fantastic! There was a fire outside and our drinks were never empty. The band was great but it was loud. As for the previous review, I think they were too harsh. I think it’s unreasonable to expect free drinks from any bar even if it’s a nonalcoholic drink. They did not charge me for water. The drinks were a little pricey, so get the drink special if they have one. The weekday crowd was a little older, but everyone was friendly and we had some good laughs. It’s not really a place to have a quiet chill night unless you sit outside when the band is inside. I could see this place being busy on the weekends so I would not go there if I wanted to really talk to my friends.

Ok guys, here’s where you lost me. I was a long time fan of this little bar on the side of the road but my last Saturday night will probably be my last! I walked in as it wasn’t too crowded and the door guy asked me for a $ 5 cover fee! WTF? I come from the big cities and not even the high end clubs I’ve been to there asked me for a cover fee only to wait in a short 5 min. line until some of the guest list parties made their way through. For a bar this was ridiculous especially a «college bar» that is(college kids are usually broke and this is not UT Austin that’s full of spoiled rich kids who could spend money all day and night), that is in the middle of f’ing nowhere Texas! Now, I would have no problem paying a $ 5 cover under 2 conditions: 1) I receive 1 free drink ticket and or 2) a really good band is playing out back. Nope. It’s DJ night with hip hop blaring that no one seemed to be entertained by as every one just seemed to be chit chatting it up over pitchers crawling around and passed out hammered in some plastic chair somewhere. So, after I cough up $ 5 to the doorman after literally being clawed down as a homeless man would I finally make my way to the bar. The bartender girl here is nice and friendly and I have never had a bad experience with them here. Lets not forget that I’m a DD as I’m not a big drinker and mainly just come to these places to chill out with friends and let off the work week steam. So after my friends have ordered up their 101s and reindeer shots I order a coke. that’ll be $ 2. $ 2 for a 5oz mouthwash cup of soda that probably cost them nothing more than 5 cents! Usually when I ask for ‘just a little coke’ in a bar/club they don’t charge me anything more than a dollar if nothing as they can tell that I’m a DD as I’m doing the bar a favor by keeping them out of DWI lawsuits and I can then leave the friendly bartender a $ 1 or 2, instead I just handed it into the money sucking registers as if this business isn’t making enough on a Saturday night being that the beer fridge is almost empty every 5 minutes as it is constantly being restocked. So for $ 7 I got a little sip of watered down coke and some really unnecessary hip hop bursting my eardrums out that was in no ones particular taste. This is a bar, not a club. Lets get that straight. Maybe I came on a bad night but as a business owner myself I would not be charging $ 5 at a «bar» and definitely not for recognizable DDs that just want to relax. I feel completely ripped off and mistreated. I know these guys are trying to run a business, but lets try to do it right where the customers are being taken care of not just drowning their wallets.
