Very rude staff at Game Xchange Denton. They treated myself and a friend like we were stupid when asking simple questions about the condition of an item. One of the store associates said«we don’t worry about that. And by „we“, I mean the CUSTOMER». I will never shop here again and will tell all of my friends in TXRGS not to shop there as well. I am embarrassed for whoever is responsible for hiring the staff at this location.

I have purchased some games here but I stopped after awhile because of an employee who presented himself as a higher up. He might be the manager or assistant manager. He wears a ball cap and is hispanic. My boyfriend and I had been in there 3 – 4 times before. We purchased the Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition. He has to find the cd in their library behind the counter, gives it to us, we purchase it for like 10 bucks and he sends us on our way. We get home and discover it’s not the special edition it’s just Devil May Cry 3 which doesn’t have what we wanted on it. It’s too late to go back so we go the next day. I guess my boyfriend lost the receipt or threw it away with the bag so we didn’t have it but the guy saw us buy it and like i said we had been in there before and he knew us. He says they never had the special edition to begin with, and he must of made a mistake but refuses to even give us store credit even though the case we have with the game in it said game xchange and the title on it. I asked if he could look up the purchases on his computer, and gave him the estimated time we bought it. He goes«well there is just too many purchases to look through»…are you kidding me? What a liar. It’s not a shop tons of people are at everyday. It was his error that we got the wrong game in the first place and he didn’t even apologize. I left but was pissed so came back in and gave him a piece of my mind. He gave us store credit, still no apology though. After that each time we came back to buy something he would ignore us and instruct someone else to help us. The last straw though was one time I noticed someone was trading in Luigi’s Mansion so we waited around and then when the girl put it in the inventory we asked to buy it. Only 8 bucks… a steal for this game. As we are buying it he grabs it from her and is like«Why is it only 8 dollars I would have priced this game 15 dollars at the least. She shrugs and he looks at me, I glare at him because for a spilt second I thought he was gonna change the price or something. Guess he was just being a douche bag. Maybe one day ill come back but hopefully he won’t be there. To be honest though the last couple times I visited the selection seemed to be worse. They had 12 plus copies of madden 2007 and less anything to actually care about. Prices on newer gen games(360/ps3) were also more expensive than what you would find at game stop. In the retro selection there was usually nothing interesting or special. Sure they had some Ocarina of Time but nothing to freak out over. There is a gaming store in the golden triangle mall that has way more selection and is organized better.

I did a lot of business at Game X Change for a few years, including trading in movies, games and gaming consoles, but wont be going there anymore! The employees are rude and inattentive. When trading things in and using store credit, there is no system in their computer to access your account, just tiny slips of receipt paper that say your current amount on it. I had my wallet stolen with said tiny slip of paper in it, and had no way to access the money I was owed from all the trade in I had made. That sucks, and so does the fact that they don’t have a real trading system.

I found out about Game X Change from a competitor’s employee. Hunting for NES games one day I was disappointed that another local gaming store didn’t stock such antiques and suggested I roll over to Game X Change. I’m glad I did. Now, I’m not a gamer by definition but I do love my NES and based on their overall inventory, it looks like they have a little bit of everything for every game system ever. Not only do they have games, consoles, accessories, and every other manner of gaming goods, they also carry refurbished iProducts and various other tech thingamajigs. My favorite thing about Game X Change other than their love for Ninentendo is their movie selection. They have a crapload of DVDs on the cheap and always have a buy 2 get one deal going on. Their quantity is vastly larger than that of Recycled Books however the diversity isn’t quite there although I will say they have more new releases than Blockbuster whose stores are looking emptier than a Russin market mid-famine. To sum it up, Game X Change beats the pants off of any other gaming and media store in Denton. ***I would like to point out that the people complaining about their bad experiences had bad experiences because they failed to procure the proper documentation(a friggin receipt) to exchange or return merchandise. The return policy and warranty policy is expressly stated on their receipts just like other businesses which is precisely why they give them to you and why you should keep them. I have had no problems with customer service there either. The kids that work there are always pretty friendly and don’t hassle me. Every time I’ve been rung up they’ve recited the return policy like mantra. All that being said, the customer who complains is not always right. Especially if they don’t have their receipt.
