Okay, so this review is based on one visit. If I need to update later, I will. I just had a cleaning and exam, and I suppose the true test of a dentist is when real work comes around. I won’t go into my dental phobia in this review… did that for the last one and I’m short on time. But dentists make me panic, faint, sick to my stomach, and more. It’s a gut reaction based on years of dental work that was painful. But I’ve been lucky… my last dentist was really great and so is Dr. Fickey. In fact, I wandered around for a year(mostly as a stall tactic) asking people 1) if they were terrified of the dentist and if the answer was affirmative, 2) who they went to. In the end, Dr. Fickey was where the terrified people went and were happy.(Side note… surprising number of people aren’t afraid of the dentist. Must be nice.) I can see why Dr. Fickey got rave reviews. He’s really nice, very empathetic, and actually takes what you’ve said and applies it. You know that form you fill out? The looooong one? He read it and used the info when checking out my teeth. He didn’t jab the metal hook all over and test to see if my teeth really are sensitive. I was as comfortable and at ease as possible, which is saying a lot for a first visit. Dr. Fickey’s hygienist is also really quick. Both did well at telling you what they were going to do before they did it.(When you have sensitive teeth, it’s nice to know that you might have a tooth twinge coming. Well, not nice, but you jump less in the seat.) I think I’ll be good returning in 6 months.
