I am big on nostalgia and a #throwback to better days. So we thought going to Unique Barbers would be a cool experience. However, along with the old school atmosphere also came some old school ways of thinking. From the minute we walked in it was obvious that you had to be a regular at this place and of a certain skin color. Though I did not grow up in the 50’s, I’m sure the cold reception and lack of eye contact we received were common in those days. Needless to say we did not stay very long. We felt unwelcome and they made it obvious our patronage was not important. Too bad because we will probably have to go to a corporate establishment to get my father in law a trim. I rather support a mom and pop place but not a business that is selective on who they serve.

This review is long overdue and I wish I could leave no stars. My significant other wanted to try out a new barber and decided to try this place, because our friend recommended it. I decided to tag along. When we first walked in the lady(which I’m pretty sure is one of the owners) rudely greeted us by instantly saying«What do you want??» and giving us a dirty look. Okay. He still wanted to give it a shot. The lady was incredibly rude and degrading towards us the whole entire experience, but she would then turn around and be super friendly towards the gentleman in the next seat. We gave no reason to be treated so rudely; we were trying our hardest to remain polite. He told her exactly how he wanted his hair cut; he clearly stated what # he wanted it cut and where. She completely ignored him and cut however she wanted. She was aimlessly cutting his hair like a five year old and blaming him for it. He finally got fed up and had to stop her; she was out of line. She kept talking like she was expecting us to just run without paying. He still paid for the hair cut AND tipped to prove her wrong. Despite her not giving a proper hair cut. She didn’t even deserve that. Afterwards we went directly to his usual barber, and even he said that the lady«F***ed up» his hair. He had to shave off all of his hair, because it was so uneven. I don’t know how they’re expecting to keep their business alive if they’re going to instantly treat new clientele like this.

Won’t go anywhere else in Denton now. These guys are awesome. A great men’s haircut by great people. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Zero attitude, and good work done.

GREAT barber shop! Good people that know what they are doing and have years of experience. Plus, they are trained barbers, not«stylists». They can suggest and execute a style if you want, but mostly they give great haircuts for not much money. I’ve been coming here for years and never yet been disappointed with the service, the skill, or the price. You won’t go wrong.

Old school men’s barber service. Walk-in guy does it right, and will even do a razor trim on the neck per request. The price is very good for this level of service and skill, $ 13 for a men’s cut; and when he’s done you don’t have to check it in the mirror. Confidence in my barber is rarely of this caliber. The ambiance is purely classic with the requisite barber chair small-talk routine(without the politics of another local place I won’t be going back to), and the décor pleasingly nods to the past, with walls plastered in portraits of Marylin Monroe, a guess-your-weight machine in the wait area and shelves of old-time grooming products. A real gem.
