WHYDIDTHISPLACECLOSE? Seemed like the perfect combo: Queer friendly(great plus for an actively agender human), dog friendly(most important part of my life), by the arts district, and hosts live music! Whyyyy?

Every time I am in this area of town, we end up in the fabulous Barker Lounge! There are a bunch of excellent decorations regardless of the time of year, there is a nice large patio for when the weather is nice and there is always a friendly face or two to greet you. The service has been nothing but excellent each time and the prices are good too. They offer tasty specialty cocktails, fun drink specials and have a handful of tasty brews on tap. It is one of the most welcoming places in town. We have come here after a brewery tour, after an art walk, after a Unilocal event, in the middle of bar hopping, after beer festivals and probably a few other times. The four player pac-man is always busted somehow, but that oddly is part of its charm. The stray bar is dog, gay and straight friendly and it really is friendly! And despite their four legged patrons, I have never had an allergy issue here! That is kind of a miracle considering how often I have allergies, so that means they keep the place clean! Ridiculous, in a good way! I have met one or more interesting fun folks each visit. The convenient location and chill vibe ensure that this place will remain on our regular list. Bark bark!

This is a good place to meet up with friends and grab a cocktail before hitting the Art Walk. My favorite part of this bar is their outside patio. It’s big enough for a good-sized crowd to hangout, but intimate enough to mingle and talk to new people. It’s also a saving grace if there’s a band playing as it gets too loud inside to even hear yourself think. The bathroom can be a bit sketch as the door is left open and the stalls are in full view of the public. However, the drinks are decent and moderately priced and the bartenders are fun and friendly. Note: $ 10 minimum if you want to pay with a credit card.

This is the friendliest bar we have EVER been to! Almost everyone stopped to say hi and pet our dog, including the owner Lawrence, who was very friendly and welcoming. Drinks were great and the bartender was also outstanding. There were some games, a nice patio and free eats for the 4th of July! We had a nice time and if we’re ever in this area again, we will definitely go back! Thanks for making us feel welcome gang!

Me and the future wife were out and about looking for a good Bloody Mary and after being told by numerous bars that our dog was not allowed on their patios we found this place online. Let me tell you, as a straight couple we had an absolute fucking blast! When we walked in we were greeted by Scotty the bartender and the owner of the bar Patrick with a warm welcome and a great Bloody Mary. They know how to pour an amazing drink and definitely know how to entertain a couple. By the end of our visit our dog arlo was having a blast along with us meeting the other pooches and patrons of the bar along with us. We will absolutely be back without a doubt and look very much forward to having a lot more laughs with everyone there. As Scotty said to us. It’s not a gay bar, it’s a stray bar. All are welcome and we will be telling people about this place for years to come. Thank you guys! –Shy and Carissa–

Came for the beer bust for a friend’s birthday. The charity group for the beer bust apparently didn’t realize they were suppose to go around refilling cups. There were some very trashy people that kept asking us for our underwear. The owner was very off putting. Drunk and staggering around with a sour disposition. If you’re going to get all trashed, don’t advertise you’re the owner. The coffee/food truck in their parking lot had a very large dog just hanging out inside. I’m pretty sure that’s a major health code violation. Imagine all that dog hair in ur food.

Super friendly, good drinks, dogs are always welcome. Awesome patio! Love it here. Free food during the Bronco game. And they have a 5 foot projection TV& several HD TVs.

Went there on Sunday during a beer bust thing. First of all great music. Pleasant patio. Least friendly staff of any gay bar, ever! Was there for a couple hours. Never once was acknowledged in any way other than by the bartender who did bring drinks but didn’t even bother to say hello. The chubby boys out on the patio never even glanced our way. A word of advice to anyone in the service industry, when you work for tips, it pays to be friendly. Another friendly hint, attitude doesn’t pay your bills. You boys aren’t hot, you are just fat! Be friendly. There is a reason for the bar having a tacky«for sale by owner» sign out front. It’s called poor customer service. There are a lot of gay bars in Denver. We won’t be back to this one. Hopefully the next owner will run it a little better.

I was driving across country with my partner and dog looking for a dog friendly bar in Denver. Somehow, we took a ‘wrong’ turn on our way to a different dog bar, and saw The Barker Lounge. Wow, did we luck out! It was a RIGHT turn! We got to watch the world cup projected on a big screen, play darts, and drink. It was so nice to find a gay bar that had all the things we wanted to do and where we could bring our pup! The service was great! The bartender, Jason, even helped us order a pizza. The frosted mug was so big, it was like doing light weightlifting while drinking. AWESOME.

Sometimes I wish I lived a little closer to this neighborhood gay bar, but that doesn’t stop me from hanging out here every once in awhile. Barker Lounger has nice bartenders who will give you a little sass and strong drinks. The prices are cheap and the patrons are friendly. If you’re a good looking man, every one will have their eye on you. Enjoy the attention. Don’t forget to check out the pool table and the electronic dart board(electronic? Yes, that’s what I said). This is not the place for you young bucks out there. X Bar or Charlie’s, this is not, but I love it. And because I am one of the only females here, it ups my hag status dramatically.

The drinks are friendly and the bartenders are stiff. And, this place is full of dogs. As boring a bar as I’ve experienced. Zombieland.

We had promised our dogs camping this weekend, but plans fell through and I could tell that they already had an idea that we were going somewhere. So, we decided to take them out, but the park didn’t have the ready available alcohol we were looking for. So, after a quick Google search, we came across this bar. Didn’t think twice about it and headed over their with our two small Papillons in tow. As we arrived, we soon realized this was a gay bar. This was no deal breaker, as we love to frequent gay bars and enjoyed ourselves on several an occasion at Charlies or JRs. The bartender was very friendly and stated that the dogs came first, so he gave them some treats before he took our drink order. After getting our drinks, we went out to the surprisingly large patio area with it’s own separate bar. After only being there for maybe ten minutes, we began to make friends very quickly. There were funny, interesting people all around us and we didn’t have to have too many conversations with ourselves. It was a really fun time! We plan on going back very soon. :D

Ok, so I’m done with the Barker. Too bad I was a fan for a long time but times have changed. They’ve jacked the prices up to $ 4 for the cheapest well drink they can pour. No respect for long time supporters. They won’t stock the mix I like but still charge me more than normal to «store» the mix I buy and bring in. Dog issue is questionable since the city busted them. Screw ‘em — I can drink at the Compound with bartenders who appreciate my business for half the price. Bow Wow.

The best thing about this place is the awesome patio! Lots of room and lots of personality… a great place to just chill out when you don’t want to drink inside. More often than not there are some locals hanging out: some of them bring their dogs, some of them are dogs. But overall, the common customer is friendly and just out to enjoy a drink(or twelve). The staff is very polite. The drinks are mixed well but they don’t fall on either side of the strong/weak fence. This place goes all out for Halloween… as it should be! When I’m in the mood to just«lounge» this is where I go!

i love dogs. i love bars. being able to bring your dog to a bar= JACKPOT! never in my wildest dreams would i have guessed that this cozy place to get my drink on was a gay bar. seriously. after a quick drink with miss Laura L, Adam and Dan W, I couldn’t help but glance and pet the little pups(and their owners!) that made their way into the bar. the décor=fun and flirty. the point right? the service=so good. the bartender remembered my name! the drinks= a little pricey, but worth it. this Unilocaler= one happy camper :) yay!

You and your dog bored and need an adult bev? You can do it here, and they have a great patio to boot. Stiff drinks, friendly service(the bartender remembered my name while we were there, after one quick glance at my ID), disco balls, jukebox, cool fountain in the side room, ample parking and fantastic people watching. As others have noted, the bathroom sitch can be tricky but if you want privacy obviously go for the one with a lock on the door.

If you would’ve told me 6 months ago that Barker Lounge was a gay bar and Barry’s on Broadway wasn’t, I would have never believed you. Man did I have that one backwards. Even more amusing is that I’d been into the Barker Lounge before but apparently I’d had enough to drink that I didn’t even notice. Here are some highlights of my time at Barker Lounge: 1. Very friendly bartender, very good service. 2. It is genuinely a dog-friendly bar. There were some cute dogs here too, I fear that I might have too much to drink and try to start up a game of fetch. 3. There is plenty of parking in the back. But with drinks this strong you shouldn’t be driving. 4. They have a very large L-shaped patio that looks like a fun place to hang out. 5. Disco balls. 6. There are 2 large TV’s over the bar. One was showing House and Garden TV and the other was showing Wrestling. They really covered their bases on these 2 extremes of TV entertainment. 7. The restroom situation is a little awkward. The men’s restroom doesn’t lock and is not very roomy. The unisex restroom allegedly does lock. I will use that one next time. All things considered, this is a pretty cool neighborhood place and it’s the last stop on this section of Broadway on the way home. Odds are pretty good I’ll be found in here again.

I wanted to grab a beer with one of my best buds, my three ½ month old American Bulldog. I searched for dog friendly bars; this place came up, and I gave it a shot. I drove 30 minutes to get there, and it was well worth it! This place is friendly to everyone, regardless of if you walk on two legs or four. It was the perfect spot! I’m thrilled to have found it. Thanks for your hospitality Barker Lounge, I had a great evening!
