Carousel Cleaners

I am a long time resident of North Denver and have been using Carousel Cleaners for years. I have always been pleased with their service and the friendliness of everyone, but I’ve never written a review. Today though I was blown away, I picked up a red down jacket that was absolutely filthy and I didn’t have much hope it would get too clean. However, it looks like a brand new coat, it is amazing. I wish I had before and after pictures, you wouldn’t know it was the same coat. Thanks Carousel Cleaners, you’re awesome!

My clothes came back with tons of lint all over them. There was no lint on them when I brought them. I may have gotten them back clean, but they were completely full of lint.

I tried this place out due to the Westword deal. I’m overall satisfied with my experience, although there was some misunderstanding as to when my clothing would be ready.
It was my understanding that I could pick up my clothes on Friday. Based on this understanding, I showed up on Friday around 1:30 in the afternoon to get my clothing. I was then informed by the staff that my clothing wouldn’t be ready until 5:00 pm. This was a bummer, considering I don’t live too close to Carousel and had to come back again at the end of the following week. It’s possible that I misunderstood the Carousel staff when I first dropped off my clothes… it was just frustrating to have to go back again.
I would be willing to try this place again & increase my star review assuming everything goes «according to plan.»

This place is amazing. Spilled red wine all over my dress last weekend. They got it all out. Could not be happier with them!

Carousel gets three stars for its cleaning, one star for it’s tailoring. I’ve been using them for about four years, never had an issue with their dry cleaning or laundering. But getting my duvet repaired was a nightmare. Four times the repairs were promised over the course of several months before the repair was finally done. Staff seemed apologetic but seemed powerless to do anything to help mitigate the problem.
Use Carousel for cleaning, but look elsewhere for your tailoring needs.

Besides me has anyone noticed the poor customer service and attitudes at carousel cleaners. I have been going there for years and it’s a always been great but lately they suck!!!

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I am a third generation resident of the Highland neighborhood and this establishment has been here for as long as I can remember.
I did my research and read all of the bad reviews but also read all of the good reviews before I dropped off a lot of clothes on my first visit recently.
I scrutinized the employees and the work I expected to be done and they finished in a timely manner in which they promised.
I had a specific challenge of a pair of slacks I purchased for pennies in a local thrift store. There were considerable stains on the garment and I didn’t expect much. When I picked up a total of eight pieces, one of which included a men’s suit with one shirt, two pairs of pants and two ties; all were cleaned properly and in the time frame they said it would be done. The prices for their services are up to date and match what I expected to be the total for all eight pieces.
They had no idea I read all of their reviews and still do not at this writing. I was in the service industry (I am a licensed Barber) and I do know one thing about people… you simply cannot «please all of the people all of the time.»
It has also been my experience, that the ones who are the most difficult to please, are the loudest complainers. The ones who receive excellent service rarely write about it, but instead tell others by word of mouth-​which I will be doing with others in my neighborhood.
Please consider these points before doing business with this establishment. I am very pleased with the staff and their performance. I plan on returning and supporting local businesses in the Highlands.

I wish I could write a good review for this local business but unfortunately I can’t as their customer service is AWFUL! Six months ago they lost 4 of my husband’s dress shirts. I asked 3 times for them to look for them, and they always promised to call me back with an update and never did. So finally I went in and waited while they looked… and was told that they would call other customers to see if the order was misplaced. I appreciated the effort but they still lost 4 shirts. I was willing to overlook one incident, but last week I was told that my order of 4 items would be ready on Friday after 4pm. The girl initially said Saturday, and I requested whether Saturday would be possible. She asked her manager, and she told her that it was possible and to highlight it in yellow. So when I went to pick it up on Saturday at noon, I was told my order wasn’t ready. I asked them to look again since I was promised by Friday. They searched and were able to find ¾ items, and I was asked to come back later that day to pick up the final item that was being «recleaned» for some reason (although it didn’t have any stains on it). A little frustrating but no big deal really. Then when I went to pick my last item up today, I asked whether I could get some sort of discount, since my order was late and I had to come back twice. The employee asked the manager, and the manager came walking up to me aggressively and said «we never said Friday, we told you Saturday.» (So basically, she was implying that I was lying.) She said rudely there is «no way we are giving you a discount». So I informed them both that I wouldn’t be back again. Too bad as it’s so convenient to my house. No way should a business stay in business treating their customers that way.

I’ve really appreciated the good work from the folks at Carousel Cleaners. They have done a great job of normal washing, ironing and alterations as well as some heavy stain removal. They are on time with their service, use eco friendly chemicals in the dry cleaning and have a helpful and friendly staff. Minus 1 for the unkempt back room where the alterations occur. Make sure to grab some coupons for 50 cents off your next order when you pick up your completed order.

I have had nothing but good luck with the cleaning service and employees here. They earned my business when another dry cleaner returned a blouse of mine with a brand new stain. The owner of Carousel Cleaners cleaned the shirt at no charge. From then on this is the only place I get my dry cleaning done!

I’ve enjoyed each one of my visits to Carousel Cleaners, even the ones where everything didn’t go as planned. Once I was in a pinch and called if they could do a shirt for me in 24 hours, they kindly obliged with it being a bit extra but nothing extreme. Unfortunately through a mix up, 24 hours was never written on my tag and when I came to retrieve my shirt it hadn’t been finished. Mike took upon himself to come out and explain the mix up as well as offer an apology, but more importantly a solution and time frame to have the matter fixed. Sure enough the problem was solved in the allotted time frame and I was generously comped.
Let’s be honest, dry cleaning services are a thankless job most of the time. I find every employee there I interact with to be kind and generally happy while they are there. So take a moment, relax, and don’t stand on such a high horse when you arrive. Carousel Cleaners has been doing many people a fine service for years. Quit bitching, you’re not the only person in the world who needs their work attire, and throw an extra thank you out there.

DO NOT GO HERE! i brought my work uniform there for several months, and they couldn’t even get tiny dirt, smudge stains out of my shirts. One time, they handed my uniform back to me covered in lint of another color. the final straw was when i came in to pick up my clothes and one of the women YELLED at me because i didn’t have a phone number for her. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL !! I take my clothes to another cleaners now and amazingly, they can actually clean my uniform. NEVER GOING TO CAROUSEL CLEANERS AGAIN!!!

I purchased a daily deal a couple years ago and neglected to use my coupons until this week (deal expired 10÷29÷12) I dropped my clothes off and was told there was a two-​day turnaround, color me impressed. The evening of my initial drop-​off I met two of the clerks as well as the owner. Everyone was friendly and accommodating (even during my moment of confession about how I haven’t dry cleaned anything since purchasing the daily deal that I had kept in a ‘safe place’, which translates into somewhere where safe, safe even from me).
When I came back, two days later, I picked up my 16 pieces (3 blazers, 1 handmade 40’s coat, pants, wool cardigan, silk cardi set, merino wool dress, 7 wool/​silk blend sweaters and a finicky shirt (certain dry cleaning solvents can melt it… or something horrible as indicated by the man engulfed in flames on the care-​tag). First, the under $ 100.00 total FLOORED me and after I got home and examined all of my clothing everything had a fresh scent to it (not the chemical cleaning scent that I have come to expect from other dry cleaners) and the press job was immaculate (I have picked up pieces from another cleaner, on 6^th and Washington, where the dry cleaning was actually damp so, not only did I have damp, wrinkled clothes that I had to air out… I had to wait a week to pick up that cleaning too, and the ticket was well over $ 200!).
The most unexpected part of the evening was when I was brought my expired daily-​deals, expecting to get face value (the amount I paid for the Groupon/​Living Social deal) but instead, the owner honored the original deal! Quite honestly, I am still reeling from that act of customer service and, let’s face it, generosity.
So, in short, the regular prices are exceptionally reasonable and the quality of the dry cleaning more than met my expectations. I dropped off more tonight and I plan on becoming a regular and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Carousel Cleaners to others.
As another reviewer mentioned I did pick up a cardi that had MAJOR pilling, most of the pilling was removed but it has a moderate amount left. I am fine with that, it isn’t a reflection of the cleaners but of the clothing company and the quality of the yarn they used.

Quickest turn around times, pretty friendly folks. I’ve been pretty happy. I’ve never had any alterations done just dry cleaning but may have to try tailor because of the convenience.

Nice staff, quick turn around time and reasonable prices. They also sent me coupons in the mail after my first visit.

This neighborhood business does great alterations for cheap. Staff is always helpful and friendly and I feel lucky to have this place within walking distance!

Two stars because the people who work here are nice.
But… Brought a pair of pants in to get patched up. Nice woman told me it would be a week. Came back after 8 – 9 days and the pants weren’t ready. Came back a few days later and the pants still weren’t ready. After two weeks I got my pants back. First time I wore them they ripped open again.
Brought them back to get fixed and was told they would patch them up again no charge, told me it would be a week. I was out of town for two weeks so went back for the pants after two weeks and she still hadn’t touched them. I took the pants back with a rip still in them because I needed them for a camping trip.
I brought up my concerns to the owner about having to make 5 trips to finally get my pants back. He told me I should get new pants, never acknowledged my inconvenience or apologized.
That said, at least it was cheap ($ 8 or so). But I’d gladly pay double for decent service and a quality repair.
Bummer because Carousel is right in my neighborhood… Like others have said in reviews, maybe they do a good job cleaning clothes. Get your tailoring done elsewhere.

Just to state out right. I have not used their cleaning service. I am reviewing their tailoring, specifically their ability to patch and repair holes in jeans.
With jeans costing from $ 80-​$ 180 spending a few dollars on repairs for that extra few months of wear is a must for me. After four trips to Carousel Cleaners I can report that the person doing the repairs is either a. not very good at sewing and patching or b. is so over worked they cut corners and don’t take the time and care needed for this kind of repair.
The first experience was great. The holes were fixed albeit rudimentary and the thread didn’t blend with the color of the jeans.
The second time I had to return with a pair of jeans I picked up and noticed they had done noting too them.
Today I brought back two pair of jeans and a jacket. Both pair of jeans still had open holes and one hole was just repaired by ironing on a patch that actually fell off as I put my hand in the pocket. The holes in the jacket still looked like holes with an inadequate sewing job.
I’m updating my review and rating because the owner contacted me to right the wrong and I am impressed that he took the time to reply and offer to fix my jeans. My wife just bought a sewing machine so I won’t be going back but again, appreciate the owner offering to fix the mistakes made in the store.
The price of patching holes is very reasonable and the staff is very friendly.

The owner, mike, told me that my expectations were too high because I expect my items to come back looking clean and pressed. Four out of the five times I have used this cleaner I have had to have them redo my items because they weren’t done correctly the first time. So don’t expect your silk dress to be pressed correctly, your wool sweater to have the strains taken out the first time, the hem in your skirt to actually be sewn, or your suit jacket to be cleaned and pressed correctly even after three times and full payment. Yep, my expectations are too high and, according to Mike, the owner, I shouldn’t expect good results because I’m not paying enough — as if I negotiated and set his cleaning prices.
The two stars are for the nice and courteous front desk help. I have had no problems with them, just the «cleaning» practices.

My husband must be a glutton for punishment because he continues to take his stuff here. Usually just dress shirts and pants for dry-​cleaning, and he’s fine with those items. He has steered clear from alterations after we both had bad experiences. But recently, he dropped off a couch cushion that needed a ripped hole on the seam repaired. I have a chunky dog who lays on top of the couch like a cat and she managed to split the seam, little heifer! Anyway, he went to pick up the pillow last night and it was a messy job. All of the stars are for the nice man who helped him, who I believe is the owner. He recognized the job was not up to par and sent it back to the seamstress. So, another wasted trip to Carousel but luckily they are fixing it free of charge.
On a related note, last night under my dresser I happened to find the button that popped off a pair of jeans I asked Carousel to replace a button on last year. That metal button popped off the very first time I tried the jeans on at home. So that was exciting. Perhaps I can superglue it back on.
