What a fun evening! Silly me, I never knew cross-stitch and embroidery were different things, and thus began my night of learning new things! A little embroidery, some tasty beers, a little screen print(which I only observed my friend do mine as I was wearing a white skirt and terrified of getting paint on myself, ha!), and a tasty, and spicy, hot dog from Suburban Weiner. Loved the approach to serving the hot dog in a hollowed out piece of bread(no losing toppings!) instead of a bun. All in all, a fun evening and a little souvenir tote bag all my own to take home. Thanks, as always, to Frances for organizing. And to InkLounge and Suburban Weiner, oh and the DJ too!

When Unilocal paired up with one of my favorite places in Denver run by one of my favorite ladies, I was beside myself. Which DIY day to do?! Well, I’ve always wanted to learn more about screen printing and, while I’m an avid cross stitcher, I had not yet learned to embroider. So the choice was pretty clear. As always, Nicky and Ink Lounge brought their A game with an adorbs pattern to screen print and it was just enough to leave me wanting more. I’m looking into taking one of their full screen printing classes soon. I don’t really know why I put off taking an embroidery class for so long. I guess I always thought it would be harder than it looks with all the stitches being akimbo. I’m a neat an organized cross stitcher. The chaos of embroidery frightens me. But it turns out that it’s SUPER easy and I’m really fast at it. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas this year since I can churn those bad boys out? Last, but certainly not least, Suburban Weiner. Thank you for giving me an excuse to make penis jokes all night as well as one of the most delish sausage sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. The cups were a brilliant idea and I loved that they were served in a baguette instead of a hot dog bun. Not if you’ll excuse me, I have a tea towel to get started on.

Ooo I had a wonderful time at this event! I met some very nice ladies, brushed up on my poor embroidery skills and loved being able to learn about screen printing as I have wanted to for quite some time. My free range hotdog was also delicious and I was very pleased to see a chicken option offered. The presentation and packaging was also greatly appreciate. Thank you all for such a fun evening!

Frances is always the ultimate Hostess. The folks from Share Denver, Ink Lounge and Suburban Wiener were a definite add to the festivities. Now I know what my Mom felt like many years ago when she would have me thread her needles!

This was such a great event! I am a textile LOVER. Knitting, cross stitch, sewing, it’s all right up my alley so this event was a must! I’ve also always wanted to learn how to screen print. Share Denver was such a great venue for us to get our craft on at. Now lets add wine, beer, and delish wieners from Urban Wiener? Even better! I tried the Hot Neighbor. Because as the gent working the truck that night said, «who doesn’t love a hot neighbor?» Nuff said. I had been hoping to learn more about the entire process of screen printing, but we had a group of 33 people. So even once we were broken down into 2 groups it was still to time consuming to review in depth. Boo! But we did get to spread our own ink on our cloth bag and dry it. Yay! Now I might just have to take myself to a class to learn the rest. Yeah Ink Lounge, I’ll be calling you! After that we swapped and went to the back room to learn a brief intro to embroidery. Our instructor had planned on showing us 2 stitches but scaled it back to just one. Which was really all that we had time for. She did discuss how to do the other with those of us willing to learn and essentially«teach ourselves.» Best part is we got to take all the supplies home so we could finish our stitching. Hooray! Not really the typical Unilocal event, but I had a blast and made some new Unilocal friends. SYOY everybody! Keep it up Frances G! You know how I love my crafts! :)
