Failinger is a good doctor but their business practices stink. Prior to surgery they had me sign more papers than a home mortgage. Buried among them was a form giving them authorization to charge me for an assistant surgeon even if insurance classed such as unnecessary Blue Cross says that this is an end run around the fees they agree to charge and since I signed it I am obligated. The doctor called my 20 minute procedure routine and something he does all the time. He should find a new group to work with, because these scam artists are giving him a bad name. I’ll go elsewhere next time and pay more attention to the fine print. Who says insurance is the party responsible for high medical care?

I will start by being objective and state that every doctor is completely different. I was first recommended here by a friend who saw a knee doc and have also heard other people like the clinic with a different doctor. That said, I called in and was referred to Dr. Johnson for hip and low back issues. He was pretty badly late to our first appointment but worse yet, didn’t listen to anything I said. I had explained that many of my issues were not just in my hip but low back. He said tot ake an xray of my hip which revealed nothing. He seemed to fixate on a torn labrum but when he did the different movements to verify this, I kept saying this is not causing more pain and I don’t think that is it. I continually brought up my low back in the 5 minutes he spent with me but he kept no paying attention. I was then sent to pay for a cortisone injection and MRI on my hip that took the person injecting it a few minutes to say that she thought it was maybe more in my low back but was surprised to hear I was only getting an image of my hip. Not to surprising, it wasn’t a torn labrum. The worst part, though, was when he discovered it was not that(again after being late to our appointment) and spent no more than 2 minutes explaining that maybe I would have this issue the rest of my life and from the xray(the same one he head before my $ 750-after insurance-MRI) it looked like my hips were tilted under. When I asked him to explain this, I was quickly dismissed and told to just go get physical therapy. Since he walked away mid sentence as I asked him if he recommended anyone, I was left to find someone on my own(which can make a HUGE difference). Arrogant does not even begin to explain his behavior. Let it be noted that I am a life long athlete, yoga instructor and a biology major in college. I am certainly not a doctor but am not the average when it comes to anatomy so it wasn’t that I just couldn’t understand what he took 10 seconds to explain. I have since found another doctor and found the issue in my SI joint. I give Dr. Johnson one star, but out of respect for others recommendations for other docs at the clinic, I have set it at two stars. At the end of the day, find an alternative to this doc. I did and it was well worth it.
