RATS! This place is closing in September, and it has one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Denver! It’s a lovely spot– high ceilings, quiet business-y clientele, and big windows make it the perfect breakfast place for a weekday. Their service was fantastic and made great recommendations, and kept the great coffee coming. I had the California Omelet– eggs, guacamole, white cheddar, tomatoes. Ridiculously good. PLUS it came with hashbrowns and a biscuit. For $ 9.00. Go here before it closes!

Nothing flashy, Dixon’s offers a nice variety of menu items, affordably priced. It’s too bad this Denver landmark is closing in the fall after so many years of serving power lunches and after work cocktails. This is a good place to take the folks when they come into town.

Stopped in after Rockies game for some post Rockies win drinks to wait out the long line for the light rail. Bartendar was super nice. Made a pretty kick ass Martini! Found out this place is closing soon… like in two months.

There’s so many great restaurants in Denver, why spend your money at Dixons? I hadn’t been here in about 5 years, but the experience was pretty much the same. . food that is completely unmemorable and slightly overpriced. One thing I didn’t remember from my previous experience was the rude service. I think having a large party, which guaranteed the waiter gratuity, made him rather apathetic to attending to our table. He also took my boyfriend’s plate while he was still eating off it and didn’t bother to ask if he was finished. I will give them one positive of serving Margaritas with the martini shaker included, that’s an item you”ll get your money’s worth for. Otherwise, I think Dixon’s represents an old era in Denver restauranting, and things have changed for the better.

Dixons reminds me of a place like Houlihans. I went here for lunch the other day. This is a great place for lunch, nice outdoor patio where you can sit and relax. However, I don’t know how I would feel going here for dinner, the menu is the same and it seems mainly like lunch food. Anyway, the food is okay, but this place doesn’t have me really wanting to come back. I ordered a Chicken sandwich and my girlfriend ordered a soup and salad. Both were good, but not great. Overall, this is an okay spot. The food is not phenomenal but you can sit outside, relax, and enjoy the sunlight.

For our first annual team meeting, we decided to go out for dinner and drinks on the last full day the remote team members would be in town. We were looking for something that had a bit of variety, wasn’t too pricey, and also was new to us since the local team frequents most of the downtown restaurants. I had noticed various restaurants north of Market when I decided to stay on the RTD E Line and ride the free 16th Street Mall Bus up to California on my way to work. I had made it a point to save the names so that I could look them up online and see if any would be a lunch option for my team one day. Well, this was that day. I stated that I noticed some restaurants that we had yet to go to, one being Dixon’s, whose menu looked pretty diverse and the price seemed to be decent so we should give it a try. We made a call to the restaurant to check on closing time and a couple of other details and decided to head to Dixon’s about 530p. We took a long corner table, surrounded by windows, but from the view we had at entry it seemed the restaurant was pretty spacious. I don’t remember what everyone ordered since there was about 12 of us. I know I had an enchilada plate that was delicious. We had salsa and artichoke dip with tortilla chips as the appetizer. But, woooo, the drinks were Powerful. I don’t remember what I had but I know it was strong. I think I had the happy hour margarita. Great location, cool patio for smokers and just hanging out(I don’t smoke but I hang out with the smokers so I got to test it out). I’m actually looking forward to going back and trying many more items on their menu. I think one whole star is for the steamy, ruggish server we had who was witty, flirty, and fucking Hot! I would love to rub my *&!@? in his scruff.

This has been the spot for my last two happy hour outings and Dixon’s delivered a fun experience each time. You can certainly get your fill on discounted appetizers and drinks 7 days a week from 3pm — 6pm. The happy hour food specials include your typical bar food(wings, nachos, quesadillas), nothing impressive, but for $ 3 it’s hard to beat. The bar is centrally located and the first thing you see upon entering — where the fun begins. Here are the top two HH alcoholic concoctions: 1) $ 3 Pint-o’-Ritas hide nothing with their name; a margarita in a pint glass. The noticeable amount of alcohol is as ambiguous as the name of the drink(sarcasm)… They’re strong. 2) $ 3 Ketel One John Daly’s(or a pitcher for $ 15). These are deceptively potent cocktails; similar to Daly’s golf game — when he’s had a few John Daly’s. For those unfamiliar, it’s an alcoholic Arnold Palmer — lemonade, iced tea & Vodka. One caveat: exercise restraint with the quantity or you’ll be wanting to tee-off on anyone who looks at you funny. The one area their food excels at is breakfast. Prior reviews do not lie. Nothing special in terms of selection, merely well-prepared and tasty fare. For a similar atmosphere and dining experience, check out their sister restaurant Racines off of 6th& Sherman

I think Unilocal!has it right, this place is a 3.5 stars. We hit it up this past Saturday for brunch. In all honesty, it wasn’t my first choice but it the location worked for us(we had a couples massage booked at Elixir which is down the block). Had the green chile omelet. It actually rocked. Loved the crispy hash brown with just the right amount of grease. Not to mention my coffee cup never went dry. The booths are really spacious and nice too. Think a(slightly) upscale diner. All in all it was a positive experience. I suppose it was just a little to dull. I know, I know — do I need to be entertained? No, but it wasn’t a place that made me want to linger. Just eat and go. And sometimes that works. It is a solid place, but it won’t rock your world. Good prices, decent food and excellent service. An all around a-ok!

Came here for Brunch on Saturday. The food was delicious! I had the breakfast burrito, which was freaking huge and I couldn’t even finish it. The service was good and the food came out super quick. We’d planned an hour for brunch but ended up with tons of time to kill since everything was so fast. The restaurant was huge and nice with dark woods everywhere. There was a lot across the street, which made it perfect for parking. Only negative was there was no bottomless mimosas. If there was we probably wouldn’t have had to kill time :)

With all what appeared to be great options in Downtown Denver, this happened to be the spot my group wandered into. It was very large, so it could easily accomodate large groups. The menu was more diverse that I expected and pretty good. The Tuna was really good and the artichoke dip appetizer was also quite tasty. The atmosphere was nothing to write home about. It kind of felt like an old country restaurant a little bit.

In general, I avoid buffets as if my life depended on an a la carte meal. BUT… when my alma mater arranged a buffet dinner for current students and alumni, I felt compelled to go. Determined to make the most of the buffet, I ate two full plates of pasta marinara and steamed veggies.(The bread and caesar salad offerings never made it to my plate.) I was so stuffed, I declined the cannoli dessert. I actually enjoyed the dinner even though it was nothing fancy. The server was very attentive, and even though some of my companions weren’t, I still had a good time and appreciated the atmosphere.

This place is owned(or was last I heard) by the same people that have Racines and another restaurant which is now defunct and can’t entirely remember the name of it. This place used to have the Washington Park Chocolate Cake just like Racines did. Racines did away with having the cake. I hope Dixons did not but the odds are they dumped it too. Such a shame. One of the best parts of going to these two restaurants. All the same the food is good and never had a bad meal here at all. The Cobb Salad stands out like no other!

When my parents were in town recently, my mom did some research and wanted to go to Dixon’s because it wasn’t a chain and was reasonably priced. But the whole time we were there, I felt like I was eating in an oversized Applebee’s. It had the generic feel that we were hoping to avoid. I ordered an A-OK salad because the menu was so ecclectic that it overwhelmed me. The drink list was lacking a little bit, and I tried to order something that they haven’t had since June(they still had the June specials in those little plastic holders… another homage to Applebee’s.) I’ve heard some good things about their breakfasts, so I will have to try that soon.

I’ve seen lots of happy people at Dixon’s for breakfast as I walk past, so I was eager to try it. After a white-knuckle drive to DIA in the early morning to drop off a friend, we decided to stop in and warm up with breakfast. The food was okay. I was able to substitute toast with a biscuit, which was nice. Fresh basil in my Greek omelet was good, but the canned olives were not. The hashbrowns were plentiful but a bit undercooked. The coffee, however, was undrinkable. It had a sour taste, as though they didn’t use enough grounds in the brewing process. I know that I can be a coffee snob, but this was terrible, even with cream and sugar added. I put the mug down and stuck with water instead. I might give them another try for happy hour, but there are better options in the neighborhood for breakfast.

Meh, it does the trick and is a crowd pleaser, but the food itself is nothing special. Salads, burgers, some quasi-Mexican, it’s a little step up from your Applebee’s style standard fare. That being said, it’s an a-ok spot in a good location, has a great patio, and is apparently quite the happy hour meet up spot! I had a salad with black beans, salsa, avocado, tortilla strips, and salsa ranch. It was pretty good, but again, nothing to Unilocal home about. My dining companion, however, LOVED her fish tacos through and through, said they were perfectly breaded and cooked and that the accompanying black beans were very good. Our service was great, the setting is nice, and it’s super convenient. They can accommodate a crowd. All of these are pluses, but the food is only so-so. The place is plastered with awards(Best of Westword, 5280, etc.), so it seems like a hot spot… maybe I need to go back for more of a drinky-drinky type of experience and the food should be an afterthought.

Meh. I wanted to like this place, because it seems so nice, but it turns out it’s just another American food restaurant in Lodo. I was in a large group, and it seemed that we took the waiter completely by surprise, even though we had called ahead to warm them of our large party. It took about 10 minutes to get water and then another 10 for our drinks to come. It was a full 45 minutes before the waiter took out order. The food came and was mediocre(I ordered a bleu cheese burger medium rare and there was no red to be found in my burger). The patio was nice and I did enjoy the fresh air and I have to say, they have a pretty impressive selection of microbrew draft beers. But that’s really not enough for me to choose to go back to this place again.

Went to Dixon’s this past Sunday for brunch. The staff was really friendly and attentive. There were 6 of of us seated on the patio and the food came out quickly.(As well as the drinks). Everyone enjoyed their dishes and it was a pleasant experience. This was my first time at Dixon’s so I haven’t tried dinner there yet. I have to say the brunch menu prices are very reasonable and they have a good selection of items.

I’ve had lunch and brunch there now. Both were good. The brunch was very good! The fish’n’chips are skippable. The Farmers breakfast though is really good, and they get«over medium» which is rare! The wait staff is fast and attentive too. Both times I’ve been in, the server was refilling drinks, checking on us, clearing our plates. Very nice! If you’re gonna hit up the Sunday brunch, get there, 9 – 9:30. We left around 10:30 and there was a good wait. lots of people standing outside, lots of crying babies too, boo!

Been goin’ to Dixon’s intermittently ever since it opened, and that was a long time ago. Like others have said, it’s in a great location with difficult parking but perfect for LoDo dwellers who have all sorts of choices and probably choose Dixon’s as a default when the other places are too packed. But really Dixon’s is not too bad. My mother used to really like it. The servers were all wonderful to her, and served up her special burger with avocado consistently just right. She liked that. They kept her iced tea full. She liked that. Older people do tend to appreciate Dixon’s more than most. So we went there for a little family brainstorming(in memory of my mother) recently, and got a nice big booth for 4 of us. So much space we almost thought we’d have to do a conference call with our respective cell phones in order to hear each other speak. But we chose the table, you see… My brother liked the rib special with the giganto(genetically modified??) corn on the cob and all sorts of other trimmings for $ 14. One of my kiddos got the salmon fish & chips and seemed quite happy with that. My other kiddo got all sorts of stuff… homemade veggie soup which she loved, the ahi tuna crusted in black sesame appetizer, which looked marvelous, a big bowl of strawberries that the waitperson got for her specially, and a small dinner salad. She liked her varied and healthy looking meal. Me, I got grilled cheese and customized it to be swiss cheese on light rye with tomato, accompanied by a lovely french onion soup, all for just a bit over 5 bucks. The total for all of our meals and drinks was $ 60ish which is reasonable. In the past we have mostly gone to Dixon’s for weekend brunch, so this was an unusual detour from routine. It was indeed the perfect meal, accompanying a somber family occasion. The art on the walls has changed so much over the years, and I can’t help but think that Dixon’s had better art in the 90s. Maybe that’s because sometimes it was my friends’ art.
