My boyfriend and I stopped in for a bite and we were less than thrilled. We ordered the beer Mac and cheese, quesadillas and burger. The Mac and cheese was not hot, but rather room temp and some bites were cold. The quesadilla was good, but my boyfriends burger had an «off» taste according to him. Cute place with outdoor seating in a hip neighborhood, but I think we’ll just stick with drinks here.

Ok I can’t comment on the food as I have only ever been there late night for drinks, but it has always been a good time. My friends and I enjoy the bar as it is just off Broadway and so can be in our bar crawl list but isn’t always that crowded. Our classic of this bar is playing stump in the back room which is sorta a pool room/sorta a fake library? Anywho if you get a good group for Stump it can be lots of fun, just watch your fingers with the hammer. Bar staff is always attentive and drinks are made strong and reasonable priced for the area.

+ 1 star for the staff + 1 for the fact that they actually have a kitchen + 1 star for The Good Wife on tv on a saturday night. say what?(dont judge me — you dont know what kinda life Im about…) — 100000000000 stars for the clientele. I felt like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. no, just no. if I want to be around sloppy unattractive men drooling on themselves and scantily clad mall chicks who should not be attempting to walk in their bargain bin heels after that 5th drink, I’ll go to my next family reunion thankyouverymuchly. (srsly tho its 30 degrees outside put on a sweater ffs)

Do not go here St. Patrick’s weekend. Food was cold and poor quality. Food was served on paper plates with plastic silverware. Specifically the corn beef and cabbage was a huge disappointment.

On Friday night, 2÷5÷16, myself and a large group of friends cane to your bar. We did a round of shots and ordered beers. At this point, a large man who didn’t identify himself informed me I was taking too long at the bar. I offered him room to approach the bar when he insisted I had to leave. After a bit of back and forth, a second guy in glasses came up and also insisted I must leave the bar. At this point, the second guy identified the first as the head bouncer at the bar. I was escorted out. No one else in my group(also at the bar) were told to leave although several voluntarily left with me. I would like to thank you guys for the most humiliating event of my life and will never come back to this bar that I have patroned many times in the past.

Came here during a bar crawl on a late Friday night and this place gets packed! Barely any room to stand and definitely nowhere to sit. The crowd atmosphere was decent though. No one getting out of hand or being a douche. That’s always nice. I already had too much to drink so I ordered a coke and a cheesesteak with fries. It was very good or at least my drunk mind thought so. Very filling. I could only eat half and took the other half home. I will definitely attempt to come back to try their earlier hours.

Nice staff, great little bar. Tried the shepherds pie and it was unbelievably delicious! I’m totally hooked and plan on being back! Matt the bartender was great!

After a few visits, it’s safe to say I love this place. They have great deals on Guinness, delicious food, and it’s a great place to watch hockey. The drinks are strong and they have a pool table as well as stump(the game has a delightful premise — lots of beer and attempting to hammer nails into a tree stump). Everyone comes here, from the waxed mustache crowd to families with children to my parents, who just want to watch hockey and drink smithwicks. Their food is perfect for soaking up the strong drinks. The shepherd’s pie is cheesy, large, and well-seasoned with thyme. My companions loved their meat loaf, and on another visit we had crispy, hot wings, which were some of the best I’ve had in Denver. There are a lot of great bars on this stretch of Broadway, and this one is definitely worth your time.

We continue to come here on Tuesdays for $ 5 burger nite. We love it when Cate is our server. She remembers us and our order and is always friendly. Burgers are good and cooked to order. I love the fries, and I am not a big fry person. My only complaint is that the beers on tap are not cold enough.

Had a wonderful dinner outside tonight. We took our dog with no problems. The Sheppards pie was amazing. Hot and flavorful. 2 for one beer at happy hour. Just right. Had the leprechaun lollipops for an appetizer. Really good. Wish there were more than 3 lollipops. We split the 3rd one. Highly recommend the food. Did not go inside because of our pup.

We went for a beer on St Patricks day, the menu was limited and there was no happy hour. Staff was really nice. I understand the lack of choice, and specials, but it was still disappointing– ever so slightly. We were here early before the green shit hit the fan. We had Fish and chips, I am not sure they batter it in house? The fries looked like they were made in house, but were kind of cold– sad fries! Not sure if i will buy food again. I will come back for their happy hour, two for one drafts, on non holidays– 4 – 7 weekdays. Good people watching, the tipsy woman with the mini dog in the bag, playing restaurant math with her daughter was hilarious.

Oh snap. Never knew this gem was here. Reasonable prices, great relaxed vibe, high ceiling in this cozy 1940s trimmed building. Our food was delicious. My friend had the open-faced roast beef sandwich($ 9.95) which was massive. I had the gnocci lamb kale dish($ 10.95) was very tasty but the portion could have been a bit bigger. Definitely going to be a go to casual dinner joint.

My boyfriend and I came here last night for the first time because this evening I refused to cook and wanted to try a walkable restaurant instead. The exterior didn’t look like much, lots of people smoking outside and a door that looks like you are about to walk into grandmas house. Inside it was somewhat busy with patrons playing cards and drinking beers. Our server was prompt but not friendly. I had the Sheppards pie and it was so good! Odd the bread was on the side though, we thought the breading would be around it. Boyfriend had bangers & mash. The sausage was so good. We got guinness then played pool. Great night. We’ll be back!

Now I’ve been here before for drinks with friends, and I think it’s a great neighborhood pub. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and a good crowd. What I had to date not experienced was the menu. I recently corrected this. And I must say that Dougherty’s has hands down the best Reuben I’ve tasted to date. I wandered in here last week for lunch, ordered it, and found myself back here a week later to have it again. They braise the corned beef in Smithwick’s ale which makes for a tender and flavorful meat, that’s cooked on the grill to crisp it up a little. And they make their own hot sauce here, which goes perfectly on the sandwich. I also tried the Irish Lollipops, irish cheddar marinated in olive oil, wrapped in prosciutto, and stuck on a breadstick. They only come three to an order(what the hell is that about? More!!), so you may want several. The menu also boasts several good pub stables, and it’s one of the very few I’ve seen that has stuffed burgers. I’d love to try one, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to refuse the Reuben. Great spot! Cheers!

For your everyday Irish Pub, this laid back joint has some serious shepard’s pie and crazy Guiness deals. At the sake of sounding cliché, I did frequent this South Broadway establishment on the Saturday before St. Patty’s(essentially one the busiest days of the year for bars) and was served very promptly, despite the overload of drunk people, pushing, and yelling. I’m a fan of Dougherty’s for its casual vibe, accessibility, and Irish fare of course, however I wouldn’t expect to have socks knocked off by anything other than their ‘buy one get one free’ Guinness deal and just how speedy their service is. It’s a bar, just like any bar. Nothing fancy, nothing that makes it famous, and so on. But I will say it’s it suits the everyday bar perfectly. And at the end of the day, that’s all we really need. A place to go where everyone knows your name. Psst — and be sure to try their unexpectantly delicious menu out.

Great place… The owner used to work at another establishment I frequent and glad to see that his place has been able to stand the test of time. It is a great place to drink and the food will surprise you, love the stuffed burgers, wings and they usually have a tasty special. But do not miss this place on St. Pat day, they block off the street have live music and food and it is just a mighty fine time. He also does a benefit for Fire fighters that has grown over the years and is now a huge party as well. Support this place it is great for the neighborhood and Denver. Plus who does not want to be in a place where they give hammers to drunk people and let them pound nails into to hardwood.

I actually live on Ellsworth within walking distance to Dougherty’s and pass by it on my way to my favorite SoBo haunts frequently so it’s been on my radar screen for years. My lady friend, with whom I lunch on Thursdays, was craving a burger today and, to our dismay, our first choice of the Irish Rover doesn’t open until 3PM so Dougherty’s it was. Meh. Two stars are for(1) Matt bartender/server par excellence — very friendly and on top of keeping everyone in the place happy — and(2) The hand cut fresh French Fries — what other places should be doing but are either too cheap or lazy to do. Top notch. I guess I’d give them .5 of a star for neighborhood friendly feel — certainly nothing fancy though and the silverware definitely need a quick buff up with the rag bag reject napkins(flatware may have been clean but didn’t look it). They lost me on the rest of the food though. Apparently someone has stolen their salt and pepper shakers and they haven’t been able to replace them. The burgers(large half pounders/with fries — $ 8.95) were hugely disappointing. Professional tip to the cook — you MUST season meat before cooking so that the seasonings penetrate into the interior of the burger patty. These were totally tasteless and no amount of seasoning at the table helped. Ditto for the green chili which might have been OK if it had been seasoned at all. Although it arrived tepid at best — a quick return to the kitchen for a warm up helped the temp but not the blandness — green chiles and S&P were MIA. It’s not a good sign when the burger bun is tastier than the burger or chili. The mealy tomato slices and shredded iceberg on the side didn’t help either. She had a lite draw and I drank water — $ 28 + tip. My curiosity has been quenched but not my hunger for a decent burger. Wish Finley’s would have kept serving lunch — now that’s a burger.

I had Wandered in here for the 5.00 Burger Special on Tuesdays. It comes with up to 5 toppings and Fries. And During Happy Hour the Beers are 2 for 1. They give you a Chip for the 2 for 1. I elected to use it later. Soon as I sat down in a spot where I could see the Baseball Game. The server came over took my order and beer order. Cant go wrong with a BlueMoon. She was friendly and attentive to my needs without being pushy or a hassle. Its a pretty tasty burger for 5.00, The toppings were Bacon, and Jalapenos and Sauteed Onions. Comes with Lettuce and a Tomato and the Fries are of the Hand cut variety and not frozen. And some other patrons welcomed me to the bar, they must be regulars to know I had never been there before which is totally awesome and we struck up a good conversation. Next HH i will see what else is on the menu to try.
