This review’s way too long, but read it. It’ll save you lots of $$$: Smiley’s Dry Cleaners and Laundromat: the«world’s largest and friendliest cleaners,» is closing at the end of January, 2013. Gone will be my nearby shop, run by friendly service providers, who’d do my dress shirts for $ 1.90 a piece(lightly starched;) along with dry cleaning for my dress slacks, sport coats and suits. So I’ve researched the pricing of where I can get similar service and have found a surprisingly great variability in cost. As a favor to my fellow Unilocalers, I’m going to set out the price lists of all the cleaners in the downtown/uptown area that I could find, along with how much they charge for the following services(you decide on quality since I haven’t used all these folks and can’t comment on how good a job they do): men’s dress shirts laundered(w/or w/o starch); men’s slacks; men’s sport jackets; suits. Where you see a price in parentheses, it means they have a variable charge(usually it means that the garment, if lined, is a $ 1 more, or something like that). If there’s no 4th price it’s ’cause a suit is just the added price of the slacks + jacket. So here you go, in no particular order: Park Hill Cleaners: $ 1.85; $ 4.50($ 5.00); $ 6.50; $ 10.00 5 Star Cleaners: $ no laundry service; $ 5.80; $ 8.20 Majestic Cleaners: $ 1.90; $ 5.15; $ 6.75; $ 10.95 17th Ave. Cleaners: $ 2.35; $ 5.95; $ 6.00; $ 12.25 Dependable Cleaners: $ 3.77; $ 10.02; $ 10.22; $ 18.34 Twenty-One 01 Cleaners: $ 1.90; $ 4.95; $ 6.95; $ 10.90 Hancock Cleaners: Out of business or moved and no # Vienna Cleaners: $ 1.80; $ 5.00($ 6.00); $ 5.95($ 6.95); $ 11.00 Uptown Cleaners: $ 1.80; $ 5.00($ 6.00); $ 5.95($ 6.95); $ 10.00($ 11.00) Revolution Cleaners: $ 3.50; $ 8.50; $ 8.75 Larimer Square Cleaners: $ $ 2.30; $ 5.00; $ 6.00($ 7.00); $ 12.00 Spring Cleaners: $ 1.80; $ 3.50; $ 3.50 Go Green(Colorado) Cleaners: $ 2.15; $ 5.25; $ 5.25 Supreme Cleaners: $ 1.90; $ 4.25; $ 6.99 Paradise Cleaners: $ 3.25; $ 9.25; $ 9.25; $ 16.95 As you can see, the cost difference/spread is enormous(although several of these places frequently run 10−20% coupon discount deals). The owners at Spring Cleaners are brothers(Tayfun and Toga Sonmez) and tell me that their prices are much lower than their competitors because they actually do their own cleaning and laundry on-site instead of sending it out to large warehouse operations. I’m deciding whether to give them a try because the cost savings will be huge(but probably won’t start them off with any of my Canali suits :-) Hope this helps you in your consumer spending.
