My wife had a surplus of clothes and accessories that we put into consignment with Encore Shop. We believed being in business for 30 years had some weight. We brought in about 20 items plus that were accepted. A month or so later we contacted them to see if we did well. Well the store did very well but for us not so well, over 30% of the items disappeared, a $ 300 net loss for us and probably a net gain for the store. The owner claimed items were stolen and they were not responsible. I don’t buy the«stolen» story but I am betting the«missing» items were sold but not recorded. Looking at previous reviews it seems to be the norm so we can all see a pattern developing. Please stop doing business with them, many other honest consignment stores are available near you. They are not even worth 1 star rating.

If I could put a one star I would… One word of warning: do NOT consign any valuable items there. I did and now, 3 Chicos items, a pair of Chanel sunglasses, a pair of Arnette sunglasses and a few more items have«disappeared»… After one week of trying to talk to the owner, she finally called back to say… «Read your contract! We are not responsible…» Now how does a store who puts all the sunglasses in ONE glass case stands behind the«lost or stolen item» clause in that case is beyond my comprehension. They do not keep track of consigned items, write everything by hand… They do not hold any responsibility towards their clients. I will NEVER go back.

Well, if you bring in seven items to sell which are then accepted for consignment, and are then told that THREE of them are either«lost or stolen» with just a «we are not responsible, it’s on your signed agreement,» then I would say THISISNOT A STORETOBUYFROMANDCERTAINLYNOTTOCONSIGNWITH. I barely got an apology from the owner — three out of seven items lost or stolen? Come on, that is NOT acceptable!!!

I would give this store a zero rating for customer service and politeness. While I was shopping and browsing, I had a question about an item for my daughter. The store associate said they normally do not accept returns, however, she would let me take the item for my daughter to try on. She said I could return it the next business day if need be. She wrote a note on the receipt to the associate who was working the next day with the terms to which I had made the purchase. When I returned the next day, the associate would not accept the return, She was rude and did not seem to care that her name was written on the top of the receipt with approved directions. I left the store with no merchandise or returned money. When I called to ask to have the manager return my call, the associate hung up on me. I am out of pocket $ with no merchandise to show for it. I still have not talked to the store manager to resolve this issue. So if you want to throw your money away, shop at Encore. Be forewarned about snooty rude service.

I’d like to be kind, but I can’t. This shop is unsightly and disorganized. I have been taking my clothing and purses there for several years to sell on consignment. I’m done. In February I took in 5 near perfect handbags to sell. Thirty days later I called and was told that their computer was down and out for repair so they could not give me the status of my account. I understand that computers are wonky and occasionally need help however, a week later, same story(what??). A few weeks later I was stopped in and was paid for 3 or the 5. I later found out that the remaining two had been sold but that my record had not reflected this as it had not been updated. With as much as I like the person who works there, I just can’t recommend doing business with them.

When I walked in, the employee behind the counter didn’t say anything to me at first, which is fine with me. She looked at me, then kept working. When I started looking at shoes, she explained that Encore Shop is an upscale consignment shop(and she had the audacity to explain what consignment means). I wouldn’t even let my grandma wear these old ladyish clothes. There was a lot of Ralph Lauren and Armani stuff, and that was about it. Not a big selection of clothes, which disappointed me. There wasn’t any logical organization either, and the woman working there kept looking at me as if I didn’t belong there just because I was wearing jeans. Do not go here. Might as well take a trip to the mall if you’re in the area for more friendly service and better quality clothing.
