My family and I went to the Federal Bar and Grill on a Friday for lunch and really enjoyed it. The menu items were creative and the food was delicious. I had«The Blast» sandwich with avacado, bacon, turkey, fries. Our server, Kim, was very attentive and friendly. Excellent customer service! The owner even stopped by our table to see if everything was good. I’d definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

One of my favorite spots to grab a burger and draughts. They’ve got a great ping pong table, shuffleboard, darts and board games. The food(including brunch) is really great for what you may consider a dive bar, and the whole establishment is very clean. Trivia nights are fun, too!

Been meaning to leave a review on this place for a while. One of my favorite places to eat in Denver! It is close to my house, which is how my friends and I discovered it, but everything I have tried is ridiculously delicious from brunch, to salads(the pig on green is to die for), to burgers(I like things spicy so the ring of fire with ghost fries is my favorite) — it’s ALL good! It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside is nice and they have lots of games to play. I could go on and on but I will just end this by saying, if you’re in the neighborhood, you would do yourself a disservice by not checking this place out ;)

Super yum :) I was actually skeptical of this place, mostly because from the street it looks a bit divey… but glad I gave it a go! My mom was right, you can never judge a place by it’s cover… It’s super nice inside, actually I love the bathrooms– best bathrooms ever. Super surprising inside, didn’t think it was going to look that nice but it’s a real gem. The food is great too. Actually the food is really good, they have ghost pepper everything and it’s delicious, I loved their ghost pepper fries… and their super spicy sweet potato fries are also great and their pork belly banh mi was specatuclar. Beer selection is great, but they do need to update their website actually– a lot of things listed on their website is actually not there anymore. They also have a really nice game area(shuffle board and ping pong) and a ton of board games. We’re definitely coming back. It’s super close to our work and so glad we took a chance and tried it! It’s great, a real diamond in the rough :)

This is a nice divey burger joint, sort of off the beaten path, with good food and great service. The ghost fries are no joke — I’ve been eating spicy food all my life, but I still end up ordering one unseasoned batch and mixing them together to mellow it out a bit! The list of toppings for the burgers is very extensive, and there’s a great veggie option.

This is where cows go to burger heaven. Surprisingly, I’ve never had a beer here, so I can’t talk about that aspect, but, cripes, are the burgers here delicious. The last time I went, I had the Federale and it was amazing. I feel like I should write more about how good the food is, but it’s kind of something you need to experience for yourself. Go, order a burger. You can thank me later.

I mostly come for the atmosphere. The food is pretty good, but I enjoy the games and that it isn’t too incredibly crowded. What I really, really appreciate though, is that most things can be made gluten free. They even have a designated fryer for gluten free fries, etc. which is pretty rare to find. It’s not easy to find a place like that! It’s a great place to grab a drink and some food with people.

I love a good dive, so walking in, I knew I was in a good spot. I read the beer list, and was immediately elated. Here, you’ll find the ambiance of a dive(more hipsters, less potential Hell’s Angels members) with a craft beer selection that rivals other bars in Denver. Equally excited that they’ve got vegan options to boot. My limited experience with the food has been solid, and I cannot speak more highly of the edamame with the peanut and barbecue sauces(trust me, especially after a high gravity beer or two). Service timing was fine, the servers and manager were very knowledgeable about potential allergens/weird ingredients. Bring some friends, get beers and snacks, watch whatever game is on(or don’t), and enjoy.

I give The Fed 5 stars for two reasons. Jeremy has consistantly done an amazing job with the beer selection. It’s common to find one or two beers that are very rare on tap here. Plus the staff is always open if you need a recommendation. For the food I would give 5 stars as well. The menu is sorta traditional for a bar but very fun and creative. They have excellent wings in my opinion(I like my wings crispy with no wet chicken), best burger in the highlands by far and the deviled eggs are unreal. Yes. Deviled eggs. Unreal. Seriously. Check it out!

New to the neighborhood, we were excited to see a bar with tasty food, big TV’s for games and a cheap(er) mule. So sad it didn’t work out between us federal. I ordered the stuffed cheeseburger, my fiancé had the nachos. I asked for the burger well done. The burger they brought out was cold and red with only the slightest hint of brown around the outside. I hate sending food back, but had to. The second burger they bring out, even worse. The waitress quickly says I’ll take it off your check and be right back. She brings us the bill, no offer to feed me something else and lets me know the manager is yelling at the kitchen staff, which I found very unprofessional. So we payed $ 60 for nachos and 2 rounds of drinks and I didn’t eat dinner. The manager came over as we were peeling of cash to tell us how he had layed into the staff and acted like he had done us a huge favor by taking it off the bill. We left hungry and disappointed and ripped off. Makes cooking for myself instead feel like a walk in the park.

I was in the Federal Bar and Grill with my wife and baby son. It was a great experience. Our buffalo chicken sandwiches were excellent. But more importantly the service was phenomenal. These guys went out of our way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Next time I’m back I’ll be sure to check out the great selection of games as well.

We go here whenever we are in Denver with our daughter who is gluten intolerant. They have several gluten free options that she likes including burgers and even gf fish and chips. I like it as well as they have decent food and a great beer list, albeit a bit pricey beer list ;)

Holy mother of pearl! Shave my head and call me Bill… stumbled into this gem while searching for a close-by grog joint near our house. Burgers are the best I have had in Denver… period. The pretzels are friggen stupid good. Beer selection is head-spinning…Jeremy who seems to be the captain of this vessel is charming and a true bar keep. There is some crazy love coming out of the kitchen into this mess hall. Warm, good feelings… the needle will be pushed in again. Junkie… a junkie I am.

Good draft selection and easy access for locals. Friendly and prompt staff. Lots of seating. No nfl package so only local games but forgivable.

Cool bar in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood but it made up for it in other ways. Good, expansive menu.(BTW-Try the deviled eggs you won’t be disappointed.) The wait staff was pretty attentive. Overall, I recommend you give it a whirl. Compliments the mystery bartenter that made a spectacularly mind blowing dirty martini.

I’m tempted to give this the fourth star bump, purely based on the reason that they have ping pong, shuffle board, and a nice steel tip dartboard. The only thing that holding me back is… Well, I can’t really put my finger on it. The food was A-OK. The service was fast enough, and A-OK. The cleanliness and ambiance was A-OK. The prices, compared to other fare on Federal Blvd. were slightly higher, but they’re not trying to be a burrito shop, so I guess that’s A-OK as well. Here’s my tips for management to get that 4th star, maybe even a fifth: 1. ‘Happy Hour’ didn’t really make me all that happy. It was a dollar off pints. Whoopee. When a $ 5 dollar pint becomes $ 4? Big deal. Go 2−4−1, or offer a $ 3 dollar pint of the day. A $ 2 buck PBR draft all the time would bring me in regularly, and because my gal drinks the more expensive stuff because she has taste, you still make good margins. 2. String up some lights on the patio outside, for crying out loud. Enjoying a beer and a meal under the yellowy-orange glow of a street lights is lame. That patio area could rock, with a few simple improvements. That is all. I have spoken!

This is one of my favorite bars in the neighborhood. Great rotating beer selection, awesome food, and great service. The décor gives the place a one of a kind feel. It seems like we can always get the seat we’re looking for(booth, bar, table), the beer we need, and the food to satisfy any spicy food lovers appetite. They do spice right. Not so hot it burns your face off, but hot enough to enjoy the taste(but still need that sip of beer to wash it down). For someone who loves spice but still likes to taste food, they have is the perfect balance. The food never disappoints, but I have a few items I get every time. If you like fries, get the Ghost Fries and be ready for the heat,(but worth every bite). The Wings are awesome. We get the hot buffalo(see paragraph above on theory of spicy). The Deviled Eggs are a good way to cut the heat and enjoy some eggs done right. All of their dipping sauces are awesome, but my fav is the horseradish sour cream. What makes this place one of my favorites to watch the game is the strategic placement of TVs. There isn’t a bad spot in the house, and you don’t miss a second of the game as you move throughout the place. Great food, great beer, great service… just a great place.

Now that I’m a permanent«local» I’ve been coming to Federal a lot more, and the changes they’ve made over the last 6 months warrant a better rating. Federal’s beer list has definitely improved; last year they had way too many expensive drafts($ 8-$ 12 range) and now it’s rare to see anything over $ 7 and $ 5-$ 6 is the norm. The selection is still really good however, and it’s constantly changing. While I wouldn’t necessarily call them a «beer bar» they do have a better selection than most in the immediate area. Food is still inconsistent. Some days we have really good meals, and others are just okay. Wouldn’t call them a destination food joint, but if you’re stopping in for a few drinks, you won’t be disappointed with the offering. We stick with the sandwiches mostly, but word from others is that the burgers are solid as well. Highlights are trivia night(Grumpier Old Men… we’re coming for you… eventually) and happy hour with food & drink specials.

I came here in hopes of good food and and beers… I’m happy to say the beer and service was great but the food was A-OK. My friend and I came here on a Friday night and were seated quickly close to the back(which I enjoyed). After looking at Unilocal reviews I wanted to try to Kim Chee burger and asked the server how hot it would be. She told me the Kim Chee was made in house and it was more of a slaw. I agreed. The burger was blah. I don’t enjoy anything too spicy, but the Kim Chee didn’t taste like anything other than cole slaw. The 3 stars comes from the good variety of beers, good service and decent parking lot.
