A stunning bookstore! So many times you walk into a used bookstore, and it looks like a mélange of garage sales, estate sales, and flood damage all in one musty pile. Not the case at Gallagher’s! This bookstore is a bibliophile’s dream, a collector’s fantasy. It actually smells a bit like leather, and that is no surprise as so many books here are leather bound! Classics in embossed leather, in custom boxes, first editions to rarities– if you are a true book lover or collector, this is your Mothership! Get here!

Was passing by while visiting Denver and wanted to stop into this little shop. Was just browsing then asked if they had a book and had a lovely chat with Sue, the owner. Great place :)

A Rare Find 6 Blocks South of I-25, Gallagher Books is among the very best in bookstores. I was immediately visually stimulated upon entering this unassuming shop. The aesthetics of the beautifully displayed, leather-bound editions were enough to give this book lover heart palpitations. Gallagher has a spectacular selection of old, scarce and unique books in many fields. Aside from Gallagher’s beautiful arsenal of publications, it is worth mentioning that the owners are members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America(ABAA), the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers(ILAB), and the Rocky Mountain Antiquarian Booksellers Association(RMABA). You can not ask for a nicer bookshop. See you there, bibliophiles!

This is a bookman’s bookshop. Excellent inventory. These aren’t books to be read and discarded, no emphasis on dog eared paperbacks here. These books are meant to be read and collected, with prices that reflect as much. Excellent selection of mysteries, history, literary biography, folio society, and non-fiction. Respectable selection for literature. Many, many pretty first-early editions to be found here.

Stopped in randomly while touring the neighborhood. It is a great shop with many unique finds! I now have the perfect book for a gift and 3 other options for the same author should I want to invest a bit more. It is really a beautiful space chock full of all kinds of genres, editions and finds. I could, and plan to, spend hours perusing the books.

Just like mushrooms pick up the flavor of whatever you cook them with, this bookstore has absorbed the flavor of the antique stores surrounding it. The bookcases themselves look like antiques and are in excellent condition. This bookstore also has an interesting collection of heavy looking book ends for sale. If you head down the middle rather than skirting the perimeter, you will find the modern fiction, mysteries and science fiction. The copies were in near perfect condition and have already been plastic-kleered(that plastic wrapping that protects the dust jacket). They even had a substantial section of signed Mysteries. Since signed first editions are what I’m secretly hoping for, I do enjoy coming here to look at them. Since this is Broadway, they are pretty sure of what they are worth, so I am less likely to find a bargain. In addition to these, their historical books and collections of antique kids books were also impressive. I think they must have all the Nancy Drews. Since today is Dr. Seuss’ birthday, I ALMOST bought a 1st edition of Cat in the Hat, but really couldn’t justify it given how dirt poor I am right now. As all protectors of fetished property, the owner was very friendly and helpful. Really deserving of 3 ½ stars, this is a regular stop when book hunting, but generally on the end of the tour or simply when I’m in the neighborhood.
