Gigi’s Cupcakes Kiosk

Been here a few times, and so far it’s hit or miss. There have been times where I would get a delicious looking cupcake, only to be left disappointed because it was raw in the middle. There have been times where It was the best thing in the world since bacon. The same goes for the staff. Some don’t care and others are more than accommodating. If you want a cupcake, it’s inexpensive and it’s good when it’s good.

What a variety of cupcakes considering how small the store/​kiosk is. Seriously took forever deciding on a flavor since they all sounded pretty great. There were 6 constant flavors and probably 6 more daily flavors. I ended up getting the Oreo cookie one (forgot the name). I was sold by the marshmallow filling.
Got home and immediately ate it. Was really yummy! The marshmallow filling was good and the chocolate cake was really tasty. The cake was a little crumbly which was really the only complaint I have.

I stopped by the kiosk to try these guys out, and I have to say I wasn’t really impressed. The cupcake was edible, but the frosting tasted like egg, almost as if I was eating batter right out of the mixer. I have had much better cupcakes at other local bakery shops that were more moist and much fresher than the ones I tried today, sorry Gigi.

While visiting I enjoyed a banana split cupcake that was delicious. The strawberry cake was moist, the banana frosting was tasty but not over the top and the chocolate ganache was a nice addition to this good cake. I wanted the lemon cake but they were out. If there is a cake you want to try, get there early because flavors sell out quick. Since this location is a kiosk, they have a limited selection and flavors sell fast.

Gigi’s cupcakes are to die for. I always try to stop when I’m downtown. Absolutely love them!

It’s decadent — it’s over the top and you know you want one. I get one for my niece each month, plus my hubby craves these! Did I mention he’s an accomplished baker– he knows his stuff. The sweet retired grandpa is chatty and fun. The pink champagne has real alcohol in it– winning combo!

I visited Gigi’s kiosk for the first time a couple of days ago. I had heard they carried a gluten free cupcake every day, so I decided to try one. The clerk was a very nice teenaged girl. She was very helpful and chatted with me while she rang me up.
As for the concerns I’ve read from other reviewers regarding cross contamination, they keep the gluten free cupcakes on the top tier of the cupcake stand so gluten crumbs wont fall onto the cupcakes. I did not have a problem with getting sick. I also did not notice the kiosk to be dirty and have crumbs everywhere, like one reviewer pointed out. Before I review the cupcake, I’d like to point out that I have a degree as a pastry chef, so I’m very critical of baked goods.
The cupcake they happened to have that day was an orange cream one. The frosting was fantastic. That being said, I found the cake to be lacking in flavor and texture. The gf cake had the consistency of a crumbly cookie. It was super sugary – I felt like it was only being held together by soaking syrup. That being said, the overall combination of really good frosting and mediocre cake was not bad. I feel like there’s some room for improvement on the cake side.
If you’re really craving a cupcake and can’t have gluten, and the Denver Cupcake Truck isn’t around, these are the best ones I’ve found on the 16^th street mall.

Since I just learned that Gigi’s has gluten free cupcakes, I decided to try to find the kiosk since I work downtown. [It is right in front of Rock Bottom Brewery]. Another Unilocaler told me that the Gigi’s truck always had a gluten free cupcake, and I was guessing/​hoping the kiosk would too, even though the stores only carry them on Friday. Buuuut…
Apparently the kiosk DOES have a gluten free cupcake every day but for some reason today they didn’t. The teenaged clerk did not know why. Did they sell out? He didn’t know. Do they have them every day? He thinks so… but isn’t sure. Would they have them tomorrow? He wasn’t sure. Not super impressed with him or the fact that the inside of the kiosk was messy and had crumbs all over the place [read = potential cross contamination in the event that there was a GF cupcake]. All the cupcakes were placed on an exposed pyramid tier with cupcakes all over it. So while I’ll be back to hunt down a GF cupcake, if they are on that same tier where crumbs can get everywhere, I may not buy it.

It’s ALL about the frosting and Gigi’s has GREAT frosting! The mini cupcake sampler was reasonable priced for four mini cupcakes. They were really good. YUM.

For the steep price thought I may be more impressed for all the hooplah everyone makes!!!

I had the Kentucky Bourbon cupcake, and I was a little disappointed. You could taste the bourbon flavor, but there were way too many walnuts in the cake to make it enjoyable. The cake was also a little on the dry side. The frosting was also too sweet for my taste. I probably wouldn’t be going back to Gigi’s.

SO GOOD!!! The flavors change everyday so it really depends what day you stumble upon this super cute place. On Mondays I would highly recommend the carrot cake cupcake. Perfectly moist and sweet. On Tuesdays, go for the hunka chunka banana. Banana bread cupcake with banana frosting that’s made with banana pudding. AH!!! Love it.
The girls that work there are truly amazing too! Most (if not all) are culinary students and they have great recommendations for which cupcake will suite your taste. If you’re undecided, ask their opinion rather than choosing the prettiest one. I never would have picked carrot cake when there was such a fancy looking margarita one, but she insisted and I was not let down at all!!!

I walk past this place on my way to work everyday and am proud of the self restraint I show with not buying myself a cupcake daily! The girls who work here are delightful and always quick to make an excellent recommendation. I love the peanut buyer, Kentucky bourbon pie, and coconut cupcakes the best. I look forward to trying all the flavors!

I really wanted to like this. The box was colorful, the cupcakes were nicely decorated and I thought it would be an out of this world experience. I got the box back to the hotel room and was looking forward to eating this for dessert…
The cupcake turned out to be dry, and the icing was sweet but lacked flavor. i ended up scraping the icing off and not finishing the dry cake, which is shocking considering how much I love cupcakes. And I got their number one best seller — birthday cake. I was disappointed, and think a cupcake from a grocery store may have been better or at least just as good. What I got did not justify the price, and left me craving for a real cupcake from sprinkles!
so thankful that we have great cupcakes from Sibby’s, Sprinkles, and Kara’s in the bay area. i don’t think a gigi’s would survive if a franchise opened here, unless the competition drove it to be better.

These cupcakes are awesome and reasonably priced. Attention to detail goes along way and GIGI’s knows how to make a great cupcake.

A-​d-​o-​r-​a-​b-​l-​e little stand and the worst cupcake… actually the worst sweet anything I’ve ever had. $ 3.50 competes with Chicago prices and for the dry flavorless nasty heavy sugar cream topped disaster disappointed doesn’t begin…

As I was walking up 16^th Street Mall, the adorable little cupcake kiosk caught my eye. My shoes were creating blisters after walking a significant distance, and I decided to catch the Mall Ride at Curtis. As I waited, I saw a display window with a variety of cupcakes. As I am a cupcake enthusiast (self proclaimed, of course), I felt a calling when I saw the little kiosk. I headed over, and decided to try something unique. I settled on the Hot Chocolate Love cupcake, made «hot» with Cayenne Pepper. I held on to my adorable little box and made my way along to other things.
As I got on the Mall Ride, I noticed a man muttering to himself. He started singing an old rock song as he danced on the pole he was originally holding on. After he seemed to have tired of his one-​man show, he removed an aluminum foil wrapped burrito, and proceeded to have a conversation into his walkie-​talkie. What an interesting character. If I hadn’t gotten sidetracked by this cupcake shop, I never would have had this hysterical experience.
Unfortunately for Gigi’s, this experience didn’t make up for the cupcake. It wasn’t the flavor (it being a spicy cupcake) that ruined it. This cupcake was the most dense thing I’ve ever seen. It was so heavy. When I think of cupcakes, heavy and dense aren’t words I’d use to describe a good one.

Food review: So I’m going to start off by saying this is an OK cupcake. It’s got a decent flavor and it’s not dry so it’s got that going for it but not much more. Considering it’s the most expensive cupcake I’ve ever purchased, I was expecting a lot more. I am disappoint.
