I Love Grandpa’s hamburgers. Large Double meat with cheese! I have been eating there since I was a kid. Now I take my kids there whenever we are in the neighborhood. To this day, they are my favorite hamburgers.

The best old fashioned hole in the wall hamburger joint around Denver. When was the last time you got a burger with your buns grilled a wee bit. Their fries and their shakes they’re great too.

I got a small double cheeseburger with bacon. There was no one else in there and I got the burger to go. It took maybe 5 min and I was on my way. It was really good and I scarfed it down like a competition eater.

Pretty good food. I support them because they’re local. Normally get a small hamburger, onion rings, and a milk shake the total is $ 10. A little pricey, but worth it.

The service is great, people friendly. The food has change like the buns are taking over the favor. And missing the taste.

If you want some soup nazi bs, this is your place. The burgers are good, but not worth the attitudes. They server what they want, when they want, to who they want. Posted hours? No those don’t mean we’re open then. Posted menu? No we don’t always serve that. Best bet, just steer clear of this place all together

The food is decent. Being from central NY, I know a good d fashioned hamburger stand when I see one. These guys are good but, not great. My disappointment came about when, after ordering a combo meal(which included a beverage) the employee behind the stand informed me I would be required to purchase a bottle of water vs her giving me a plastic cup w water as would be the case in nearly every single dining experience of my life. I was then informed that the owner refuses to give away water… refuses to give away tap water! I had already spent $ 10 in this restaurant and would be required to spend more money for a glass of water. Ha! I won’t ever go to this restaurant again.

Way too many flys. Cooking with the back door open I just couldn’t do it. Its a shame too because I really liked the food.

A must eat if you’re in Denver. There’s not many hamburger and shake shacks left and this one is worth it. No place to eat inside and could be a little friendlier/cleaner but it’s good food!

Food was good, it really was. The unfortunate part was pulling out seven long black hairs from my burger and fries. Get some hair nets!!!

I love this place. It reminds me of Whataburger back home. Simple and old fashioned style burgers. There are no tables nor dining areas so you must take it to go. I believe there is a minimum charge of you are using credit/check card.

I went by at 11 today and had a large double without cheese. It seems like they are using a different bun. Not the texture or taste of the old one. To bad as this was my go to place for a burger.

I would love to be able to add my glowing review to the masses, but it seems that I decided to make my first visit after the decline of the good service that others have noted. It’s too bad, too, because I love me some roadside burger grub. In this case, though, I didn’t even get to sample the burger, just the surly attitude of the counter server and the annoying(and usually against Merchant Terms of Credit Card Companies) «Credit Card Minimum Charge» I guess they just don’t want customers that badly. Oh well.

I’ve been coming to Grandpa’s for the last 7 years! Every time it’s amazing. It’s a dive, walk up, mom and pop burger joint. If you have a problem with not having seating or being catered to– this is not your place! I don’t go for the service or the atmosphere, I go for the food! The burgers are huge, taste Fantastic and they are cooked perfect each time(the cheese perfectly melted– not just thrown on)!!! The banana chocolate shake is something I honestly get urges for. LOVE, love, LOVE this place!

Marriage is full of ups and downs. Thankfully my marriage to my wonderful hubby has been mostly ups. Sadly however one of the few«downs» was when he insisted that we have lunch at Grandpa’s Burger Haven. «You’ll love the milkshake» he said. «The burger is okay, but we’re going for the milkshake… Thankfully we’re still happily married despite his poor judgement in this one particular culinary event. Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with burger joints and unattractive diners as long as the food and service are good. You can’t always have great ambience when searching for a great milkshake. This place has no seating, just a small covered area where you place your order — you’re only options are 1) to-go, 2) eat in your car or 3) eat at one of the covered picnic tables situated about a foot off of a very busy Federal Blvd. Had I known that I’d be competing with passing trucks and buses in order to have a conversation, I would have opted to eat in our car — it would have been much more pleasant. So why do I think this place is so terrible? My hubby placed our order for a crispy chicken sandwich and a peanut butter milkshake. The sandwiches are served on massive buns so splitting the sandwich was not a problem. I secured a spot at one of the«roadside» tables and proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait for our order to arrive. Fifteen minutes!!! There was only one person ahead of us so it’s not as if they were backed up. Yes, fifteen minutes for one chicken sandwich and a milkshake. Perhaps someone was plucking the chickens out back or they were making the ice cream from scratch? Finally the surly order taker(yes, I forget to mention that she was noticeably unfriendly), handed my hubby our order. He asked for spoons for the milkshake — not an unusual request given that the giant shake was very thick and could in no way be consumed through a straw. «We’re out of spoons,» she replied. So, how are we supposed to eat this shake? Wait until it’s completed melted? Finally he was give an couple of plastic knives which we used as little paddles for our milk shake. The chicken sandwich was large, crispy, covered with mayo and a slice of tomato. Nothing special. Not bad, just not very good. The bun, about the size of a soccer ball(slight exaggeration) and was virtually tasteless. The milk shake was just okay but I’ve had much better. Vanilla ice cream — not rich tasting, more like ice milk mixed with peanut butter. So, service — bad, food — inconsequential, atmosphere — bad. Hubby — forgiven. I want the 1,500 calories back.

i love dives but this place is more of a dump. They charge sit-down restaurant prices for an «eat in parking lot» experience. All might be forgiven if the key food item rocked, but the burger is mashed thin and overwhelmed by bun and mustard. The fries were the best part. The staff weren’t pleasant and kept asking me to upgrade the combo size… then moved the tip jar between me and my food. They should have more aptly named the place«Grandpa’s #2»

I’ve been driving past this place daily and reminding myself to try it. Yesterday I finally did on the way home from work. All I had was a burger, and I really wasn’t impressed. My first bite I thought immediately that it was a Wendy’s burger. They top it with mustard, onion, lettuce, and tomato, and when there was only one other order besides mine, when I asked for one of these items to be left off it still made it on. I had seen many good reviews for this place and since it’s been around for so long I thought it might be worth trying, but to be honest it’s no different than any other fast food burger, just more expensive. One thing about grandpa’s that’s different is they also offer steak sandwiches and corn dogs, but that really won’t bring me back.

28JUN2014 Knocked off a star. 1. Surly attitude on the part of the order taker. «You can’t have a malted shake». 2. No spoons! How can you be out of spoons when you serve milkshakes that require them? We had to use knives to eat our shake. 3. They require that you show an ID to use a credit card. $ 13 charge and I have to show an ID? Never again. 25OCT2013 Ah, the soothing sounds of South Federal Blvd on a sunny afternoon. I sat at the one and only picnic table and ate my large cheeseburger and spooned a medium peanut butter malted shake into my mouth. While the burger is tasty, it is nothing special. But, the shake is delicious. The shake was constructed with soft-serv«ice cream», a bit of milk, Jif peanut butter(a large spoonful), malted milk powder. I ate the entire«drink» with a spoon as the viscosity remained high the entire time. The service is friendly and the entire establishment reeks of «old school». — No Wi-Fi. — No beer.

Double large cheese burger with bacon, fries and a drink… $ 10!!! I’d put this burger against any in town. Only thing keeping it from 5 star is that they need another picnic table out front.
