Here’s another nail in the coffin of the myth that Denver doesn’t have interesting or vibrant arts scenes. Denver’s comedy scene is pure solid gold and the monthly Grawlix shows show exactly why. For $ 7 you get the best local comedians: Wry nerdcore humor from Adam Cayton-Holland, riotous ranting from Ben Roy, and the giggling class-based comedy of Andrew Orvedahl. Plus some awesome national acts that the guys convince to perform. I’ve seen the Sklar Brothers, TJ Miller, Moshe Kasher and many others, so it’s clear the Grawlix guys have impressed some big talent to convince them to stop by their ragtag comedy nights. These nights are just so much fun. They are small enough where you can really be in the performance. Yet they have professional sound and video systems courtesy of the Avenue Theater. The performances are the last Friday of every month at 10:30 at the Avenue Theater. If you want to see how strong Denver’s comedy scene really is, you should check out these shows and be blown away by the local talent we have in this city and the impressive work they are doing to build up a local scene to the national level.
