I loved this place from the outset. It has a really chill vibe and it was a shame their weren’t more people there on this day. Perhaps there are more people on different days. Nestled directly across from a «alternative medicine» shop I thought maybe more people would want to chill, get a bite to eat, smoke some hookah? Well I smoked the hookah for them! I love authentic places that arent corporate. Places that people worked hard to establish and maintain. This is one of those places. I would guess that the ladies who work here own the business? One older lady and one younger lady. I am assuming a mother daughter duo? Sounded like they were middle eastern(hopefully that isnt offensive). They have light foods and smoothies. They have lots of tea’s and coffee/cappuccino’s as well. The hookah’s are 15 buck with 75 cents for a coal refill. You can just chill at a table or on the coaches scattered around. They have board games and books that you can read while you wait. The décor is really about feeling or energy. One might say hipster, one might say Buddha, another might say nerdy. Guess what? They all would be right. The owner im assuming isnt the super nice in your face how can I help you type of gal. This I love because its her place and she can run it how she dam well pleases! If ever in Denver I will go back

When I lived two blocks from Gypsy house, I was a frequent camper on their mismatched furniture. I wrote a lot of briefs powered by their dolmas, hummus, and coffee. One downside is there are not a ton of outlets, so come powered up if you’re planning to work, but on the upside I can’t remember ever being unable to find a place to sit or feeling like I was taking up a spot and preventing other customers from having a place to sit.

Since I live next door, I’ve given this place 3 or 4 chances and don’t think I’ll ever go back. There’s a scary old lady who works there and it seems like she hasn’t smiled in 40 years. She over charged me three times. The first time I ordered a regular coffee, she charged for a large and just poured into a regular mug. Since I stayed I figured I’d get refills. Another time I felt bad vibes because I used a credit card. Finally on the third visit and being overcharged again, I showed her the price on the menu and she acted like she’d never seen the menu before. I had to point out the drink and she said that she never saw that, acting all surprised. I’ve overheard her arguing with her daughter there. It’s dark and smells of incense, with a very gypsy/hippy décor. My Chai tea was too spicy for my taste. I might go again in a pinch because it’s a little cheaper than Thump coffee across the street, but never if that mean scary old lady is in there!

This was my first time in. What an eclectic place and I mean that in the best way possible! The drinks were amazing I also had a breakfast sandwich. I have no clue what the eggs used in the breakfast sandwich are seasoned with but they were delicious. I will definitely be back during the day. I’m jot a big hooker person which is why I would avoid this at night.

Décor is horrid and old and the small room is cluttered with mismatched pieces and junk basically. Its dark and dingy and the lady behind the counter isn’t the most friendly. She was making food right at the counter and said to let her know of what we want when she is done. My husband told her we were ready when she was and her response was«I said when I was done I would help you.» Weird since we did exactly what she had asked and wasn’t trying to rush her. The coffee was ok and could have used a little more syrup. If I lived in the neighborhood, I might go back, but since we don’t live near there I don’t see any reason to head back there for rude service and a creepy shop. She also charged us more than what was posted on the board it came across that way because she specifically asked if we were sharing a large coffee and not buying two.

This place has the best Chai I’ve ever had in my life. The décor is a bit obnoxious, but I’ve seen worse. The downside to this place is the lady at the counter. She’s a bit of a pill and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her smile. I’ve seen her snap at people for no reason at all. Parking is also a crap shoot. I only put up with it when I really want some good Chai.

Awesome vibe and AMAZING chai! The owner will do what it takes to take care of her customers. If you’re in for breakfast the egg sandwich is unique and delicious!

What a quirky gem this is! The very first time I frequented this hippie hangout was for a book club meeting in the middle of winter. Just before our meeting time, in true Denver fashion, about 16 inches were dumped in less than an hour. And thus, only one of my fellow book club members showed up – we were the only two who had read the book anyway. I digress… Gypsy Café is located at an often ignored intersection in Cap Hill. Parking is difficult, and usually this café is frequented by those who live in the neighborhood and can walk/bike. When you walk in, you might be surprised by the décor. It’s a combination of a lot of different ideas. Prayer flags, hippies, gelato, and an overall middle eastern vibe work together in harmony, however. Mismatched, outdated, worn furniture make up the seating, and heavy drapes adorn the windows. And there’s a downstairs – which I didn’t realize! It’s a hookah lounge with couches in every possible combination. It’s even darker downstairs, and to be honest, I find it a bit creepy. Perhaps I need to give it a try with the hookah. But the coffee. The baristas(though maybe enjoying a bit too much ganja) are friendly and take their time doing your drink right. Though I’m not much of a tea drinker, that’s my go to at gypsy café. Chai and/or other teas. Do it. Love it. You’re welcome. If you live in the neighborhood and have work to get done, it’s fairly quiet and I’ve never seen it crowded.

The owner Dena was super nice and made a bangin chai latte. The coffee shop was nicely decorated and had a good energy. It was pretty great to just sit on the sofa and chat with a friend while sipping on my chai latte, no problems. She kept the front door open which let a good flow of air in and had a great playlist going low in the background. I usually like my morning coffee but this was the perfect substitute. They prefer to take cash so remember this when you go here. I’ll look forward to coming here again next time I’m in town.

Meh. Not a bad cup of coffee but not the greatest. The lady who worked behind the counter wasn’t the friendliest and abruptly demanded cash only as I grabbed for my card– although she clearly has a CC machine. Also it’s middle of summer(and was a particularly hot day) and there was no AC. So it was pretty muggy in there. I was happy to get out of there. Just seemed like they were penny pinching at the expense of the customers. Seriously, just keep walking past Gypsy House and go to Thump where you get legitimate friendly service, delicious coffee and sandwiches, and a nicely air conditioned place that accepts debit/credit.

Without even realizing it I spent over 12 hours here it was one of the best experiences I have had in Denver. P.S You can always find your people here.

Didn’t like the service. The lady at the front counter yelled at me because I didn’t use cash even though they have a credit card machine. Also wanted to use the Wifi so I went to get a banana and instead of calmly saying that I needed to buy more for the wifi she got upset that it was all I wanted to buy. The teas are pretty good but that doesn’t matter when I’m sitting here weirded out by the lack of hospitality.

I’ve only been here twice so far, but both times I like it a lot. I agree with other reviewers that if you want to get serious work done, def don’t come here. But this is a really great place to come and just chill out with friends. Hookah prices are good, and its not CRAZY loud like most places in Denver that serve hookah. The décor is… well, it looks like the inside of a gypsy caravan. It can’t really decide what its theme is, but then again, the theme is gypsy — which implies you’ve spent a lot of time traveling around looking at cool shit and collecting what you can. I def recommend as a great place to chill out. I feel very comfortable here.

Amazing hookah, atmosphere and coffee! This is the triumvirate of all great hookah dens. Go downstairs and get a seat on the pillows! You meet all kinds of cool people, it’s super crowded a lot but a great vagrant joint and they always hold a lot fun open mic sorts of events(and even some just spontaneously!) My favorite Denver hangout!

I love the feel in this place. Very unique and warm in there. Also, the woman everyone is referring to as «Mama» who I assume is the owner just made me the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had… that’s a bold claim and I stand behind it. Damn. Huge tea selection as well. Not sure how I’d feel about hookah smoke everywhere but no one was smoking when I was there.

The Gypsy Café has it all: delicious drinks like coffee and tea, delicious food, and kind staff. It’s got this weird décor going on with relaxing music in the background. It’s a great place to bring friends to hang out at. It’s relaxing and quiet in the basement. The place is a little rough around the edges, but it’s easy to relax at.

This is a pleasant sort of place. The environment is nice and there are a lot of comfortable places to sit and relax. There are a lot of regulars and it tends to feel a little like you are hanging out in someone’s house instead of in a business. As a bonus, the chai(the«Gemini») is the best I’ve ever had. Overall, it’s a great place to relax and read or smoke a hookah if that’s your thing. It is less good for working. The Wifi quality is not good and there aren’t many outlets. Also, the atmosphere is simply more conducive to relaxation than work. When I have a lot to get done, I tend to go down the street to Thump. However, the hours here are a lot better than those at Thump, so I tend to end up working(or trying to work) at this place, anyway. The pricing can be erratic. I have not noticed this as much lately so maybe it’s no longer an issue, but historically I’ve found that sometimes the amount charged doesn’t match what is on the board. It seems to depend who is working. Also, sometimes cash is preferred and the ATM here is slow and sometimes it doesn’t work at all. Just keep all that in mind and then stop in and relax with a nice cup of chai or coffee.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I visited Gypsy House. I don’t smoke hookah, but previous reviews indicated decent food and beverage selection. At 1pm on a Monday, it is empty save for a couple smoking. The vibe is relaxed and calm. The vaguely international smooth jazz is a nice complement to the feel. I ordered the Caribbean Colada while I waited. Thank goodness one of the sisters who owns the café asked if I wanted regular milk. NO!!! Lactose intolerance episode avoided. My frozen drink was very much like a rich, creamy virgin piña colada. At $ 4 it was a nice sized portion. I will be going back.

I love a lot of things about the Gypsy House Café. It looks so sketchy from outside, but inside, it’s this funky can’t-quite-figure-out-what-we-are hodgepodge. It’s a middle eastern, prayer-flag-wielding, gelato-serving hotmess. On the fourth stop of my CoffeeThesisProposal, I spent a few hours here with some chocolate gelato and a Turkish coffee. Sadly, the music was too loud and distracting, the gelato had chunks of ice in it(gross!), and the Turkish coffee was, well, not that good.(And trust me, I know all-too-well what to expect from a Turkish/Arabic coffee!) I totally recommend it as a hang out spot, especially if you want to come with a bunch of friends and split a hookah and play a board game. But as a work space? Ugh, not happening.

Wow, what a unique place. I probably would have never found this place if I was by myself. I have never seen hukas before, but they have them here… smoke and lattes don’t in my mind go together… but it certainly added to the people watching aspect of the experience. I felt like I jumped back in time, in a different place… but maybe that is their intent? I noticed the folks working that night preferred to socialize amongst themselves instead of cleaning off the tables. I felt badly so I ended up clearing extra dishes and mugs off the tables as I left. Even though it is *not* my thing I am sure at some point I will be back. It is a laid back place where you can just chill.
