Young black hoochie mamas walking around with no purpose. No history of the importance of the event.

I forgot that there was going to be a big Juneteenth event. Even though I had noted beforehand(thanks to ) that Light Rail wouldn’t be running and several buses would be re-routed because of it. I only remembered after I was out and about and spotted all the tents and the Big Inflatable Thing For Kids To Play In.(Is there one good word for those things? C’mon, English Language. Let’s make that happen.) There was a lot of standard fair fare, including more BBQ than you can shake a stick at. Lots of carnival games for kiddies, and two stages for performances.(When we walked by, one fella was rapping some inspiring hip-hop gospel. The second stage sported some more traditional R&B/soul kind of gospel.) There were campaign tables for Bennett and Hickenlooper, and a lot of Obamawear being sold.(Including a big, leather Letterman-style jacket.) It was nice to get out and walk through the crowd and see so many people enjoying their neighborhood. There was a parade from Fuller Park(our dog park!) to Blair Caldwell public library, but we didn’t get to see that one. Maybe next year!
