Key-Rite Security

Accommodated my need for an emergency appointment when key broke off in the lock; then when I managed to lock myself out. In the latter case, someone was out within 30 minutes (possibly less). Kind gentlemen, too, all of them with whom I dealt.

I needed an extra key to my mailbox. Ace hardware said they could not do it and suggested I try Key Rite. They fixed me up in short order and even gave me a cool custom tag with «Mail» printed on it. They seem to know what they are doing.

I bought a used scooter with an aftermarket trunk mounted on the back.
Two Ace Hardwares tried duplicating the scooter key and could only get their duplicates to unlock the glove compartment, though the original also unlocked the seat and turned the ignition. They didn’t have the blank for the trunk. At the second place, the very courteous and helpful Ace guy said «try Key-​Rite at Evans and Grape.»
I am glad I did. Super nice and extremely competent in their specialty. They made perfect keys for me and while I was there I had them also make a duplicate key for a cylinder-​style bike u-​lock.
They sell padlocks of all sorts and can educate you on the benefits of each style.
Having said this, I doubt they make any money on homeowners’ keys and locks. I suspect they make their money when they are called to help someone get into their locked house or car. Fortunately, I haven’t had a need for this service.
I love locally owned experts in their field like this company.
Edit: Subsequent visits were less satisfying. One time I emailed a photo of a key I needed to have duplicated and sent a very specific description. They told me to come right in because they had the blank. Upon arriving, they did not have the blank and it seemed like they hadn’t really looked before telling me to come over. Still, they do have more knowledge than the other places I have used.

I needed a new safe for our new house.
I went and looked at some various models and they had one that met my needs perfectly.
At a good price.
Bought it.
