WOW. The bread is the truth. If you don’t speak Spanish you can play it safe and order the Guera, pronounced wed-dah, which chicken tomato and avocado on the fluffiest warm bread

Super tasty sandwiches and the price is very reasonable considering the portions and quality. I keep this place in mind not just for lunch and dinner, but for breakfast as well, as there are several egg-based sandwiches. This is a sister location of the much-busier Las Tortugas on Alameda in Denver. On the occasions I’ve been to the Monaco location, there have been no more than a couple of other people there. You can have anything from a satisfying normal-sized sandwich(e.g. lambada) to an absolute gut-buster(e.g. super cubana) that you could split with someone else. The bread is exactly the right size in my opinion — as large as a turtle, but not so thick that you’ll fill up on bread. They also have chips, horchata(cinammon rice milk drink), liquados(fruit drinks), fruit smoothies and desserts. The sandwiches have Spanish names but, as you can see from the menu photo, the ingredient list is printed in English. You can call your order in ahead, or just show up and wait a few minutes for the sandwich to be prepared on the grill.

What’s a torta? No clue. But so, so glad Unilocal found this place. We were looking for some Mexican food and this restaurant showed up. I said, «no sandwiches.» But one step inside and I knew we hit the jackpot. Get brave. Walk inside. Order something. Anything. It will be good. Oh, and get an extra water… spicy,

Not bad food. Had to wait a bit longer than expected for a sandwich. The seats are hard stools.

Ample parking in a large lot. Service was pretty friendly. Clean and fairly nice. The windows face due west and around sunset the sun blazes through the unshaded windows and ricochets off all of the bright stainless steel tabletops and is really bright and unpleasant. It also got pretty loud with some yelling kids and the cook chopping stuff. The menu is somewhat confusing, alternating between Spanish and English and it’s not clear which items are which. Pretty much all the tortas are meat-centric — like 3 or 4 different kinds — but not much for veggies. Took about 5 minutes to get, and it was searing hot. The bread was decent size, however the middle was pretty slim with thin breaded meat, avocado slice, too much chipotle sauce that dominated everything, and that’s all that can be remembered. Definitely had much more satisfying and generous tortas elsewhere.

The menu is almost overwhelming at first glance, but the gentleman at the register helped us out and made suggestions. I tried the one he said was the most popular and I was not disappointed. I can’t remember the name, but it had ham, pork leg, and steak. The bread was perfectly toasted and all the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. I’d definitely eat here again!

Lunch stop. $ 39 for 4 sandwiches, 4 waters and 2 bags of chips. It was our first visit based on reviews and our first experience with a Torta sandwich. It was tasty and good sized but not worth the price. The cashier was not helpful when I asked questions to help decide until she became inpatient.

Wow. Amazing, legit torts ready to bite your senses. Make sure to get fries and a coke as this is the trifecta. Live or up with a fanta. Atmosphere is clean, inviting and ready for you to chow down. Viva el cubano!

After finishing up some errands, I decided I needed to try out the new torta place. I was greeted immediately by the very friendly and helpful cashier. She walked me through the menu and helped me pick out a pork free torta. My sandwich was grilled immediately and I took it to go. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the torta I chose but it was dressed with chicken, ham, and cotija cheese. The bread was thin, which was both good and bad. Good, because the torta wasn’t overwhelmed by the bread, but bad because the freshly grilled meat, onions, and cheese wrapped up in tin foil during the journey home made the sandwich pretty soggy. I took the offer of chipotle sauce on side, which turned out to be a good decision. If the sauce had been on the torta during the trip home, I would have had to eat with a knife and fork. And since the chipotle sauce is so flavorful, I wouldn’t have wanted to leave it off. The chicken was tasty but I was a little disappointed by the one thin slice of grocery store deli meat ham. The restaurant is a nice, clean open space filled with high-top community tables smartly outfitted with rolls of paper towels. The cashier said that this location is busier than the other store in Commerce City, so it sounds like word has gotten out. Look for it across from the Wal-Mart, sandwiched between Starbucks and the bank.

If the police were going through a dry-spell and needed to make a bust then decided to plant some incriminating evidence on my person to which led to my conviction of a capital crime. .. I would choose a half Hawaiian with a half Pork Leg and Cheese Torta with a half of an Espanola from Las Tortugas for my last meal. With regret hanging on me like an iron-chained-cloak, I can only imagine the emptiness of staring out the 9×12 window thru my 6 inch reinforced cell door, across the narrow hall looking at the muted glass window watching the glow of what can only be the sun, slowly fading into the deepest, darkest, shadow, of passing time when it would hit me. (Slap!!) I forgot to add Chipotle sauce and Jalapenos for that extra spice! This would have been the key component to help me prepare for what life I have left to live with only faded memories instead of the soul-nourishing sandwiches from Tortugas. It already comes with life-saving tomato, onions, avocado and mayonnaise all delicately placed on two pillows of toasted, crispy, perfect, tortas. This incriminating combination left me licking the wax paper the sandwich came wrapped in for anything that may have dripped off. Because whatever you do, you will be sorry all the rest of your life if you pass on a sandwich from Las Tortugas. Don’t wait until you are incarcerated and left to rot with your tortured soul anguishing in endless sweltering pain inside a 9×5 cell asking yourself, «Why? Why-oh-Why did I never make it to Las Tortugas!!!

I usually stop here on my way home from work. Las Tortugas always has fresh and delicious ingredients. I usually get the Enmascarada torta. Its so delicious! It’s filled with small grilled chicken pieces, ham, avocado and a delicious melted Mexican cheese. It also comes with onions and tomatoes. I prefer my torta with chipotle sauce instead of the jalapenos, but you can get both. The chipotle sauce adds a very good and smoky flavor to the torta. Also, make sure you try their horchata or one of their fresh fruit milkshakes. They make everything right in front of you, so it’s easy to see that everything is fresh.

A friend recommended me Las Tortugas and i will forever thank him! This place is great! This place is the place if you are a met lover, wich i ma! They have the best steaks, and i love the fact that i could see the meat on the grill! The plate is usually full, i can never finish mine, although i try my best to do that! I don’t even know what dish is my favourite, because the options are many: the tortas or the super Cubana might be my top choices! Anyway, i plan on trying the whole menu!

Update: Las Tortugas now sells chips! I still think they should add fries to the menu but adding a fryer to the kitchen for one menu item is a pain in the a**. I’m good with the chips! Thanks!

It’s new location for these guys and was delighted and surprised to find one at this location. Didn’t plan on eating lunch but now I am. Ended up getting super Cubana for about $ 10 loaded with lots of goodies like ham, melted cheese, fried steak, pork, franks, chorizo and eggs. They grill it fresh front of you and you get it piping hot. I had it to go and took it to starbucks next door and I started to dig in. Few peolpe were admiring my grub. It was delicious. Instead of jalapeños, mine was topped with Chipotle. Yummy flavor! I was only able to finish half of it and… i know what my snack will be. It took few seconds to read menu since it’s all in Spanish but the ingredient were also in English. Great wholesome food with nice price to go with it. Good luck guys and I will be sure to stop by when I’m passing by.

Im used to a little more meat in my tortas but it only lost a star for that. Other than that I like this place. Great taste overall and the staff is nice… the grill is in view so you can waych them whip of your torta.
