I have gone to this little understated shop on the 16th Street Mall more than a few times. An earlier review criticized it as being over priced and cheesy, but I can tell you with no hesitation that the people who run this shop firmly believe in what they are selling and it feels to me that the reviewer doesnt understand the type of shop he was actually going into. The man who runs the shop understands an enormous amount about Tibetan Buddhism and helped my girlfriend really understand the meaning of mantras as well the use for the various items they sell in the store. They have a huge assortment of items, and the prices vary from vary affordable to pricey, but the price fits the item and are not inflated. This is my favorite place in Denver to shop for this type of item.

This is an awesome and convenient place to buy gifts for my yoga friends. They have some really cool things that you can’t find anywhere else. Sure, some of the items are very pricey but they are going to last a lifetime and have a deeper spiritual vibration than some cheap hunk of metal from Walmart. It’s a commitment not to be taken lightly. There isn’t a lot of room to wiggle in this shop so leave the big bags and over-sized afro wigs at home before you go here. Still, there are all kinds of fun things from big to small to browse. Incense and candles, clothing, jewelry, murtis, CDs… tons of stuff. What I really like is that when you make a purchase, no matter what it is, the employee ringing you up will offer a few little factoids about the item(s) use, history, etc. That’s right kids, you can shop AND learn all at the same time!

Upon entering Mt. Everest imports, you are bombarded by incense smell and cheesy Indian religious music. Upon walking around you are bombarded by the price tags: 35 dollars for a small fat Chinese Buddha statue? $ 10 for a box of incense? These types of stores are chalked full of faux religious icons and new-age looking clothes… and this place is no exception. Still, this place is so pricey… forget it. Buy your incense somewhere else.

A little piece of Tibet in the middle of Denv. In fact, a nice change indeed from a string of silly souvenir shops along this block. As you enter… a beautifully-familiar-to-Boulder scent of Nag Champa manifests. I’m sure you already know what you are going to find. Small and individually crafted tiny statues of Buddha. Elephants! A colorific tiger in a bowling ball-sized marble… thing. My favorite? A fountain overflowing with smokin’ dry ice. Extraordinary. As you approach in awe, the fountain awaits stone still, subtly overflowing at a slow pace BUT as you wave your hand the dry ice changes direction and flows about the air. …I feel as though I’m in Mt. Everest… And you thought you could only experience Tibet in Boulder…
