This is the biggest sham of a restaurant i have ever visited. The service was so bad it was almost surreal. The waitress owner was rude, snippy and unengaged. Devonshire cream was really just whipped cream. Only about a teaspoon of preserves were served, in plastic cups. Do not ask for more. She may comply but you will not receive what you requested. All the negative reveiws mirrored many of the things I witnessed. Do not waste you time or you money.

I stopped in today for my favorite cinnamon rolls in Colorado and discovered a new Nana’s being remodeled. The energy of the shop was serene while I waited for my deserts… I also found a close to second favorite item… Their scones. Wholly molly!!! They are delicious as expected from Nanna and her daughter! Give them a try! You will love their dedication to satisfying you through the food and personal service!!!

I haven’t even been here yet, and I already have a bad taste in my mouth. If I weren’t beyond the Groupon parameters for requesting a refund, I would be doing that. My boyfriend tried to make a reservation for a specific day that we could coordinate(since it’s not easy for everyone to take time off for tea in the middle of the of the week in the middle of the day, not near where one is coming from) and was told that they were a few weeks out from making a reservation and that the day we wanted was booked. We decided we had nothing to lose and that we would go by on our specific day to see if maybe they could accommodate us anyway, since he was leaving town for 3 weeks and the Groupon was going to expire before he got back. The hours on the door and on the website say they open at 11. We got there at 11:30 and they were closed with no notice as to when they would be opening. I called and got the voicemail, yet we could see there were people in there. Later in the week, I called to make a reservation and was told there was nothing for over a month, after the Groupon was going to expire. The woman I spoke with got a bit snarky with me when I said we could only come on certain days, saying she was trying to help me. She then put me on hold and came back saying«the management» would honor the Groupon as long as we booked it before the Groupon expired, which I did. It has just seemed difficult to get in there when it’s convenient. After reading the reviews, I’m not that excited about going, but since I already paid for it, I’ll go and update my review afterward, a month from now.

All around bad experience. If you bought a groupon you should try to get your money back. The bad reviews are spot on. Rates zero stars.

I had a similar experience as several other reviewers. Don’t buy the groupon or any other deal for this place. I don’t know why businesses contract with these sites and then treat customers like crap when they try to use them. They don’t seem to get that it can be an opportunity to build clientele, and instead guarantee that active diners and neighbors like myself will never return or recommend because of being treated like a beggar rather than a valued customer.

I’d give Nanna’s one star and haven’t even been inside yet! My daughter bought a Groupon for tea and was planning on taking me there for an early Mother’s Day treat. We called to find out if we could make reservations and was told they were booked up through August, but taking walk-ins on Sundays from 12 – 3. I asked about going that coming up Sunday and she said sure, to come in. My daughter drove two hours home from college so we could go. We show up early, just to make sure we’d get a table and waited in the car for them to open. After a half hour, we decided to get out in the rain and see if anyone was even inside. We saw a note on the door that they were closed that day. Also another sign on the door said that Groupon and other discount coupon holders had to make a reservation. So I wonder if they were open, would we have even been served? Several other parties walked up expecting them to be open as well and I’m sure were just as disappointed as we were. This place is a disappointment before even entering the doors!

I just called this place to ask whether they sold empanada dough, based on a Google search. I checked out the website, too, to learn they offer wholesale quiches and pastries. So, I called and asked, hi there, I was wondering if you sold empanada dough? The woman curtly replied, uh no we’re not a Mexican restaurant, and hung up. I mean: she just hung up, seeming really ticked that I even called. Based on the other reviews here, it’s fairly clear: the service(owner?) is rude, unpleasant, even aggressively, weirdly stormy. Avoid this creepy place!

We were given a Groupon for a free Light Tea for Two. Around the first of Feb, I attempted to schedule for Valentines Day, but was told they were booked solid through the third week in April. Sounds pretty great, if they’re that popular, eh? NOT! Nearly four months later, we excitedly dressed up and went for our tea. I was contacted by the proprietor the afternoon before to confirm my reservation, and was told that she seats promptly at noon. There was the definite tone to the call that if you’re late, you lose your spot, but also a warning not to arrive too early. We arrived at 11:50, and patiently waited until 12. That wasn’t a problem; traffic was lighter than expected. However, another 10 minutes went by before the doors *finally* opened(12:10). We weren’t impressed, especially since everything looked to be all set up inside when we first arrived. We were curtly ushered to our table without any kind of welcome. There we sat for *another* 10 minutes, utterly ignored. No menus, no water, not even a «I’ll be with you in a moment». Someone with a call-ahead order was treated courteously, but another woman who’d waited outside with us was turned away — no open tables, despite 2 of the 5 tables inside being neither marked nor occupied. She was told that they stop serving at 2pm, so the day was completely booked. Wait? They open at 12:10 and close by 2pm? That’s a bit insane, I think, for any kind of service-oriented business. We also overheard that despite *just* opening, they were out of several sandwich products, including a staple of English Tea — chicken curry. At something like 12:15, without any acknowledgement from either staff member, we walked out.

My husband and I used our groupon here. It’s a quaint little place. He didn’t care fore the cucumber sandwiches and I didn’t care for the roast beef too much. We didn’t get loose leaf tea, which was disappointing since I was looking forward to their 120 selections. The tea was okay, I could have made it at home. The lavender scone was nice and the fruit salad was a nice touch. The downside was that you had to make a reservation and we did for a Tuesday. They made it sound like there was only one opening. There was no one there but us. A couple came in wanting to use their groupon and and was turned away. They may be losing a lot of business buy doing so. All in all I’ve been to Wystones in Lakewood and their afternoon tea was out of the park. For the groupon price, this was a nice lunch. May not return though.

The tea was mediocre. The salad was tasteless white/pale green iceberg lettuce. The serving of 4 tiny square scones was about the size of one regular one elsewhere and cost $ 4. The«additional» clotted cream(really a little squirt of whipped cream… embarrassing to call it clotted cream) cost $ 2 for about a tablespoon sized portion(actually $ 4 for 2 little tablespoon portions). The«additional» preserves(really a little scoop out of a grocery store jar, I’m sure) cost $ 2 for about a tablespoon(actually $ 4 for 2 little tablespoons worth). All in all, $ 12 for about one scone and a bit of whipped cream and jam? You’ve got to be kidding! This was robbery without a gun! Stupidly, I didn’t ask if there was a charge for these«additional» fixings. Never go there again… you shouldn’t either.

I am so disappointed. In December I went to Nanna’s to have a tasting to see about having a baby shower there. Karen, the owner, could not have been nicer. The food was amazing, the service was lovely and we walked out of there thinking we were going to have a fantastic party. I will say in certain regards they were incredibly accommodating. Because babies have a mind of their own, we had to change the date of the party twice and each time Karen was very understanding. The day of the party however was a disaster and quite frankly very embarrassing. Even though I had arranged it ahead of time, we were not allowed into the building until after 1:00. In fact, we were locked out. When I went inside to ask about it, I was told if they knew we wanted to show up early we would have been charged an extra $ 100. I told her that I had let her know about, and if I would have known she didn’t want us there, of course I wouldn’t have shown up. As we all know when you throw a party starting at 1:00, people are going to show up before that, so the entire party had to sit outside and wait on Krameria Street while they were«getting ready». When we were finally allowed in, we were seated and it was about 1:10. And then we sat there. There was no water or anything. Karen came out a few times to ask about our dietary restrictions, making a big deal to our gluten free guest about the awesome gluten free bread that they offer. But we didn’t get any water until about 1:45, and the tea didn’t come out until 2:08. After that the scones came out, but again it wasn’t until 2:34. The sandwiches finally came out at 2:55. Mind you, one of my guests was told that if we weren’t out of there by 3 we would be charged another $ 100. Oh, that awesome gluten free bread that they have? Turns out it’s lettuce. And then when asked about she got snippy with the guest and said it was«chef’s choice». When I went to pay, she apologized for getting not being as nice as she could have about the us being early and again I reiterated that had I known I wouldn’t have done that. And then she said that she doesn’t really read her emails as closely as she should, and that she let us stay late so it was all a wash. I was like, excuse, me, no, we stayed late because we weren’t served food until 2:55! Anyhow, tldr, don’t use Nanna’s for a party.

I bought a groupon for me and my friend to have a light tea together. The inside of the restaurant is small but cozy. When the menu arrived I was surprised to see the tea options were only«black, white, green, and herbal». There are not 120 varieties like their website advertises. When the tea and food arrived I was a bit disappointed. The tea was in a small tea pot and was not a traditional loose tea just two tea bags. The sandwich was tasty, but it was made with cheap ingredients. Also, the cookie I was served was definitely store bought and tasted bad. The scone was nice, I could tell it was homemade but the clotted cream tasted like whipped cream. Also the raspberry jam was cheap tasting. My friend and I finished our tea and were ask if we would like refill. I was happy that at least it was bottomless tea, however I was surprised our waitress just added more hot water over our used tea bags. I was so surprised this place could be that cheap! I won’t be coming back, it is over priced food I could easily make myself.(it is $ 19 a person for light tea plus a $ 2 surcharge if your gluten free) Too pricey for cheap food!!!

My mom bought a groupon and we drove for an hour to get here but we didn’t make a reservation and for that we were treated awful and they wouldn’t serve us because they were booked, so remember to make a reservation!

Bought a Groupon but couldn’t use it. The store was closed on a Saturday, which was unexpected considering their website notes their Sat business hours 11 – 4. Huge disappointment. Ended up going next door to Kraneria Café which was nice. Good food, decent prices, great service.

The food is great but the service is very very slow. I came for lunch with a friend — and the server kept apologizing and telling me that they were super busy. There was a maximum of 4 tables while we were there. For 2 sets of tea and sandwiches, it took them over 1 ½ and hours. The tea and food are good — but the service is incredibly slow. If you go — you cannot have plans after — unless you plan for a very long tea and lunch. It’s worth a try if you have one of the groupons or daily deals. I would be a lot more upset if I paid full price.

Found this place with a groupon. My friend and I loved it. Very cute inside and wonderful friendly service. We were served more than enough food. We are watching for another groupon. I actually would go there without one. Scones were really yummy

I bought a living social for Nanna’s Tea which included quiche and an endless pot of tea. On the living social it said, reservation recommended. However, when I went to Nanna’s Tea for the second time(first time they were closed for a super bowl party) she REFUSED to let us use the living social unless we made a reservation. She was going to sit us at a table until I told her about the living social deal. She actually said, «We have no food for you.» I called living social and they gave me my money back, and apologized. If reservations are required then it needs to say that. Maybe she treats customers who pay full price differently.

Terrible service the owner is a loose cannon. High prices for the food. I hope she goes out of business. We need business that appreciate customers. She doesn’t deserve one star.

I am a huge supporter of small local businesses. I will refer and be the biggest cheerleader for small independently owned businesses. I too have my limits on bad service, and being made to feel like your an imposition for having a food allergy. When you inquire regarding gluten intolerance and then made to feel like you are being taken advantage of because of the allergy by increased prices on each entrée. I get that restaurants need to cover their cost for purchasing items to accommodate those of us but don’t take advantage of a situation. Will not recommend this place to anyone. Wanting repeat business is not important to the owner, that is for sure. I have to leave a rating, but not because ithis business deserves it. Lots of other great places to have high tea, this is not a good choice.

I was very hesitant about my visit. On the phone they seemed a bit hurried and unhelpful. Add that to the fact that it was quite a drive to get there and I had my doubts. HOWEVER, the atmosphere was good, the ladies were lovely and the tea and scones were superb! Out waitress knew about the teas and made a brilliant recommendation for us. I found it quite reasonable compared to other tea places I’ve been to. We went because we had purchased a groupon but would have gladly paid full price for what we got. Will definitely go back!!!

This place was just okay. I’ve gone out for high tea at several different places and I found this place to be overpriced and underwhelming. The cookies that were given to us were store bought and we were only allowed to have one pot of tea for two people. The person who waited on us(I don’t know if it was Nanna) was condescending and rude. I will not be having tea here again. I recommend the Denver Tea Room, House of Commons or The Brown Palace if you are looking for a tea experience that’s worth your money and with exceptional service.

What a beautiful experience. It was as though Nanna was my actual Grandma. That is how welcome she makes you feel. The tea is tasty and delicious as are all of her home made dishes. She checks on her customers often making sure we are comfortable and that we have everything we need. She dropped by our table with tips for my friend wanting to add cream to her tea. Thanks to her tip I will never allow someones tea to curdle again. Looking forward to my next afternoon tea at this adorable place.

Love Nanna’s, Small tea shop(only six tables inside, two outside) with a great tea selection and wonderful baked goods! Very relaxed with small, dedicated staff and friendly atmosphere. The quiches and scones are delicious, as are the pasties and cupcakes. Nanna has over 100 teas from around the world and the experience is very pleasant. Spend an afternoon there and relax. Really great for kid’s birthday parties, too!

I am a quiche lover, and I was blown away by how good the zuchini quiche tasted. We followed it up with a chocolate chip scone and earl grey tea; both fantastic. The family owned restuarant is super charming. As a forewarning, the owner looked annoyed that we didn’t have a reservation even though we were the only people in the place at 11. But she did follow up with good service so I’ll for sure be back.

I wish I could give a negative 5 stars! This was a horrible experience! RUDE, BADATTITUDES, and UNPROFESSIONAL. I only heard of this through living social and can see why they are desperate enough to try and offer a deal to draw people in. They nasty and ghetto receptionist(which is an insult to receptionist because at least they know how to do their jobs) was so rude and unhelpful. This is my first Unilocal because I’m not one of «those» people but this was the worst experiences of my life. I just couldn’t let this vial and rude behavior go by. I am in the service industry and would be fired and ashamed if I did what they did. Shame on this place and I hope people avoid it at all cost!

I have to admit at first glance I was a little worried. I got there a half hour after my girlfriends and the guy showing them the tea selection said something to the tune of, «Well you missed most of the tea tour, you’re late.» Damn, son. Way to make me feel worse! He did admit he’s new and so for that I’ll let slide the fact that service was unbelievably slow(~2.5hrs to finish), a few of our glasses were dirty, we had to ask for water and plates(so that we don’t have to share one plate for four scones, heh)… But overall, our visit was actually quite charming. They had a nice tea selection and interesting scone flavors to choose from, various kitschy tea pots were for sale and pictures of Nanna’s family hung on the wall. Our guy told us to take our time, «this is the type of place to stay and talk for hours» and that kind of attitude went wonderfully with our bottomless tea. And then Nanna came out! She was very warm, asking how our day was and thanking us for coming in. Bonus points: They have gluten-free scones and dare I say it? They were actually better than the Brown Palace’s. Their gluten-free Raspberry Cream Cheese muffin was also tops, clearly Nanna’s daughter has figured out her gluten-free flours!

My sister purchased a Groupon for a cream tea at Nanna’s as something cute for us to do during my visit with her in Denver. We love trying different teas and have been to a couple of different tea places before and were excited to try Nanna’s. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, a little before our reservation. Nanna’s is a small tea place located in the middle of a strip of stores. We parked across the street at the supermarket. When we walked in, one of the waitresses asked if we had a reservation, and seated us at one of the small tables against the wall, parallel to the open kitchen. There were about 4 – 5 staff members working, which seemed a bit excessive considering there were only 3 tables occupied. I wouldn’t even pay attention to the amount of staff except that, being right next to the kitchen, they were quite loud and kind of killed the relaxing«tea house» atmosphere, talking business, among other things. Also, it was very hot in there and my very pregnant sister was very uncomfortable, so we had to cut our visit short. I ordered her an ice water and I overheard one of the staff members say«we don’t do ice water,» which was off putting. The cream tea came with a pot of tea for the two of us to share and 2 scones each. The scones they had were chocolate chip, apricot, cherry almond and rosemary bacon; we ordered one of each. We only were able to choose from 5 teas as part of the groupon, which was unfortunate since there were dozens of teas available. We went with the Assam, which was just a simple black tea. The chocolate chip one was very good and my sister liked her apricot one– we were too stuffed to try the others and took them to go. I want to say that this place has potential, but we were disappointed and do not plan on returning.

I just walked in 15 minutes before closing and was given a warm welcome by Nanna herself. I regret driving by and not stopping in earlier. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the seating is comfortable, and the tea selection is insanely huge. The prices are reasonable and the baked goods are delicious. There’s also tea cups and pots for sale! Support this amazing local business! I’ve never been treated so well.

Nannas is a gem as is Nanna herself. We found her store in a rain storm and being lovers of tea, stepped inside. We were welcomed with gratitude and big smiles. For quality tea, homemade pastries, gluten free options and most of all, love, visit Nannas.

Support small and local! I almost didn’t go here for lunch because I only drink tea when I have a cold — and supermarket tea at that — but this place was great. Who knew there were so many tasty flavors to be tried like the freshly ground branch of the licorice tree they made for me? The mother-daughter team that runs/owns the place make you feel like you’re friends. They were out of a few things on the menu when I was there so I have to give 4 stars. P. S. Unilocal hours of business are wrong. Open Sunday 10 – 2, and 10 – 6 all other days except Tuesdays when they’re closed.

I’m glad I stumbled across this place thanks to groupon. I’ve been looking for a good coffee place in Denver to sit and study at, but have been unsuccessful so far. On to tea! Nanna’s is quaint. There is a bookshelf and mismatched furniture, which gives it a nice at home atmosphere. They’ve even decorated for Halloween, so I assume they will keep it up for the coming holiday season. Also, they use actual tea cups and saucers instead of paper or mugs. The staff is helpful in answering my questions about what services they offer. They were helpful in teaching me how to use the tea infuser, which was a neat, clean way to pour a cup. I tried the jasmine pearl tea which was excellent and still tasted great when they added more hot water for me. I also tried the raspberry mint gluten-free scones which were melt in your mouth good! So I would assume there other pastries are great as well. For those interested in more, they also serve sandwiches and soup. I went by myself and read, but they seem to have a great tea for two deal and can even do high teas. Their hours are a little different now than what Unilocal is advertising. Closed Tuesdays, mon-sat 10 – 6 and sun 10 – 2. Worth checking out!
