Was searching Craigslist for a used Thule /​Yakima cargo box for ski /​camping trips and kept coming across this place. After reading the numerous positive Unilocal reviews I decided to drive down and check it out.
They have numerous used boxes for sale as well as many for rent. The knowledge and care that the staff shares about their product gave me the confidence to buy one of their used Thule box. Highly recommend this store for your travel needs.

Fantastic customer service, much better then rack attack in my opinion, they generally want to help you and found the best solution for me after I trashed my ski/​bike rack into the garage. Would return there in a heartbeat.

I was shopping around for a ski rack and adapter for my Subaru Legacy, and stopped looking after I saw how well-​reviewed this place is. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Bob, Patrick, and Patrick’s awesome dog Tuco. I was a little price sensitive, and they offered to sell me great deals on used equipment, or even let me self-​install with some free tips. They were so great that I decided to have them install anyway, and we sat and chatted for the duration of the very professional installation. They even walked me through my new equipment, step by step, so that I can reinstall or customize it on my own in the future.
I couldn’t be happier with the service I had there. Awesome guys running an awesome business right in my backyard; I’d recommend them 10 out of 10 times to anyone looking to buy, rent, or repair racks/​boxes.

I travel pretty much all summer long and live more or less out of my vehicle. The clutter and mess just got to be to much so it was finally the time for me to buy a cargo box and I’m happy I did.
Thank goodness I found this place, it saved me a ton of money. The prices I found at other places in town we’re just ridiculous. These guys gave me the feeling that they were just trying to find me the right box for the best deal.
Bob the owner is a really cool guy and went the extra mile to make sure that I was happy. The installation was done flawlessly and in just over an hour.
I would definitely recommend this place to any of my friends or family

Great service!
These guys are awesome. I came in for a simple fix and was quickly accommodated. The selection of product and quality of service mean I’ll be recommending them to my friends over other rack suppliers.
They also gave me a very fair trade on some old gear, it certainly offset the purchase of new parts a bit.

Had no idea what I was looking for. I just walked in and said, «I need a bike rack for four bikes.» Rob gave me a quick and honest appraisal of what he had in stock and in 20 minutes, I had a rack on my Jeep, got a quick tutorial and I was on my way. A friend recommended this place and I would recommend it to mine.

I stopped by this place after seeing some ads on Craigslist. I stopped by another similar roof rack retailer but the folks at ORO are really great and are truly invested in you getting the gear you need at an affordable price. Bob was specifically very patient and knowledgeable about their products.
I’ll definitely come here and recommend this place for reasonable used and new products!

I was looking for a place to rent a roof base rack from. They don’t have base racks in their rental list on the website, but I gave them a call anyway. They asked for my car’s make/model\year, checked their inventory for a car-​specific rack, and told me they do have one for rent. I checked quite a few places, including the Rack Attack, and the Open Road Outfitter was the only one to have base racks for rent.
The rental price was $ 45 for four days, installation and uninstallation included. If you have roof rails, the price is a bit lower.
The rack was in good condition, the installation process took about 10 – 15 minutes.
So check these guys out. Give them a call even if you don’t see a specific piece of equipment on their website, they might have it anyway.

These guys are nice, professional and easy to do business with. If you are in the market at all for an auto carrier call or stop by to see these guys. I just rented a hitch mount Thule cargo carrier for a trip and the experience was great!

I stumbled across this place while looking for a hitch mounted bike rack for my new vehicle. Stopped in after work one evening and was amazed at the selection and options of racks both new and used.
The owner and guy working there was very knowledgeable and offered several options. You can even rent the equipment if you only need it temporarily or if you wanna try it out first. I ended up with a 2-​tray hitch rack for a sweet price and they hooked it all up in a flash. Awesome customer service!
The next time I need a rack or accessories there is no doubt I will go back to Open Road Outfitter and I would recommend them to anyone who needs to a rack for their toys and doesn’t want to spend a fortune.

My wife and I were making a trip to Chicago and I was searching Craigs list for a used roof box and came across these guys. I never though people would actually rent them but they did and it worked great. We don’t have a need for one full time nor the money for one, however renting was quite affordable and if we wanted too they would have put the money toward a purchase. They had many, MANY, choices and sizes. They installed this in less time it took me to fill out the paper work. It worked just fine and I will be using them again. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in a similar situation. It’s very affordable and easy.
