Okay I want to love these small motels. But the room was depressing. Smelled so bad we went out and bought a candle. The bedding was a thin nasty bedspread with an equally thin blanket. I dont know why lancaster can’t get it together motel wise. Why do you have to spend over $ 200 for a decent nights sleep? It’s a great location. But we would not stay here again. Or the place we stayed the next night which was double the price. Come on, shampoo those rugs once a year. I find it sad that all these cute motels suck. :(

Made reservations for October 3rd leave October 4th, through . Everything went great within 30 minutes I received a email they had been canceled due to not accepting reservations for one night, Really? I re-read their website and I did not see this anywhere on it, so I called. The guy told me he not want one night reservations he can pick and choose as he pleases. I asked him at least its a guaranteed one night, he actually Hung Up on me. I called and reported him there too. After that I would not want to stay there. –Does not deserve a star but could not post without one.

This is a small hotel consistenting of a long strip of rooms and a separate building which may hold larger«suites.» We were given a room on the strip. After staying in the initial room for about 20 – 30 minutes, I had to go back and request a different room. There was an odor in the room of mildew or mold and was obviously coming from the a/c unit in the room. The small fridg in the room didn’t smell so great either. I knew there was no way that I could stay in the room. The owner said that they had someone come out earlier in the month to clean the units but someone must have missed this room if that’s true! The owner readily put me in the room next door. I was wary at this point, but the second room did not have the same issue. And I decided not to use the fridg in this room because of the experience in the first room. It’s not a fancy place. For the most part, it appeared clean although not sure when they may have last gone into this room — the spider webs in the bathroom freaked out my granddaughter — and were kind of gross to see. The bathroom was clean with the exceptions of spiders and the room was neat and tidy. Small TV, good cable, and free internet — important to me and it was quick! It’s not a bad value for a one star type of place. The only reason I’m giving it three stars is because of the room rate and I can’t give it 2 ½ stars. The rate is 3 star, the rest is 2 star — because of the mold/mildew issue — why bother to put someone in a room that has that issue — and the spiders.

Kind of dirty, kind of smelly, but I did not expect the Ritz. I knew what I was getting into when I booked the cheapest room in the area. They’re a dog friendly establishment, but the reason they’re getting two stars is as soon as I brought my dog in the Nosey Nellie at the front desk called my room to make sure my dog doesn’t go on the bed and is well behaved. I was not even done unpacking yet. When I booked the room I notated my dog’s temperment and agreed to their terms, I don’t need to be reminded as soon as I step out of my car for the first time in four hours. I unplugged the phone. If they don’t bug me the rest of the week I’ll up their stars. Oh. Bathroom is nice. Wi-fi sucks, is perpetually out of range, and they gave me an incorrect password for it. We got about seven inches of snow overnight and they had it plowed out of the lot by nine, so that’s good. Everyone else had moved their cars by this point, except me. I’m thinking they probably tried calling, but I’ve still got the line unplugged. Regardless, they made it possible to leave.

July 3rd, 2010 My husband and I have been staying here for 30 years and have never had a bad experience. Bob and Purnima Patel, the owners and managers, are warm, responsible, hardworking and reliable. They do everything they can to make their guests comfortable. This is a simple motel with basic amenities, but the rooms were renovated(again) just last year and it is unfailingly clean and well kept. We also stay there because they are consistently the best-priced in the area. But if you want a fancy hotel, this is not for you. There are 2 rooms that have trouble with dampness. We’ve stayed in them on occasion. Not the best, but they always give a discount on them. On Yahoo I read a horrible review which trashed the motel and Purnima. The whole thing just didn’t seem possible, based on our many, many experiences there. Also, we wondered, if the room was SO horrific, why wouldn’t this person have complained that evening, or at least when she was checking out? We called up to see what had happened. Here’s the other side of the story: This woman came at 10pm, having been unable to find any other room; it was Race week. There was only one room left at the Penn Amish — a smoking room. The woman took it, understanding that it was a smoking room. Clearly, it will smell of smoke. When the woman checked out at 11am Purnima was at the front desk; the woman said NOTHING. Only later in the day did she call to complain and demand her money back. Purnima offered her a 15% courtesy refund. I thought it was utterly unnecessary to offer any kind of refund so far after the fact. And Purnima told me the room was a mess when she went to clean it — bottles and cans on the bed and on the floor etc. Sounds to me like someone who is practiced at getting motel rooms for free. You decide: 30 years of visits with no complaints or one untrustworthy bad review.
