Yummy always, but not the best all the time. But I’ve had more good than bad experiences though. I eat here at least once a week and everything is usually tasty. Sometimes the green chili is too hot or not salty enough or lacks flavor… but that is a sign of fresh ingredients, not a canned item. The service varies, depending on who they have working. Some regulars are kind of creepy, but in my 6 years of eating here regularly, I’ve never had a problem. I’m writing a review because I feel bad reviews put out the wrong message and this is a great place to go from 7:00 am to wee hours. They are open before and after most Exdo events, and that can be good or bad depending on your idea of a good crowd. The bathrooms are clean which is amazing. They have great prices too. Please don’t be put off by the bad reviews. You won’t be disappointed.

A coworker and I were at an event down the block tonight and weren’t quite ready to go home yet so we stopped in for a drink and some conversation. We both sort of joked that maybe this might not be the best idea but were pleasantly surprised at how clean the place was. There’s definitely a regulars crowd here and while we were the outsiders we were made welcome right away. One man bought the bar a round of drinks and someone else was passing out chocolates. I was expecting a tiny bathroom here and was thrilled to find a very clean seemingly recently updated spacious one toilet woman’s room. Bathrooms say a lot about a bar in my opinion. This was a winner. Drinks were cheap staff friendly and really a quaint place. We left agreeing we may meet back at Phil’s place again.

A friend and I stopped in here because we were waiting for something to open down the street and we were starving. Love to try out new places. We ordered lunch, Mexican food, yum! Friend got a burrito and loved it, I truly can’t remember what kind he got though. I had the enchilada plate, ground beef. Wow. I personally would season the hamburger a little but the enchilada sauce is right on! And I’ll tell you, they have the creamiest, tastiest refried beans EVER! And I make my own sometimes! Junie is doing something tasty in that kitchen! Great prices too!

Walked in about 10:00. Bartender asked for my ID. I showed it to him in the window thing in my wallet. He told me to take it out. I had no problem with that(I’m 28, and I look 28) Jokingly, I said something along the lines of «good thinking, don’t want any fake IDs hiding behind the plastic» while I took it out to hand to him. Promptly my friend and I were told to «get the f*** out of my bar» In my state of confusion, I asked again for clarification. Sure enough, we were being kicked out of the bar without drinking. First time for anything I suppose. I have no intentions of returning. I don’t give my money to rude service. Probably the closest bar to my house, so it’s a shame.

Complete dive and townie Broncos bar. Could be a positive or a negative, your pick. There is a sign when you walk in that says«Keep kids off pool table” – That might help you picture the typical clientele. The previous reviewer laments that he is the first person to review – It’s no secret why, the average Phil’s customer is likely as comfortable on the internets as Betty White. The food is legitimately good, especially breakfast. Extremely limited selection of beers on tap(I think they only have Bud?) and I wouldn’t order a martini both because the martini glasses are plastic and also because I would quite likely get my arse kicked. Thank goodness they have tomato juice to kill the rancid taste of their beers. A guy in my neighborhood once recommended to the Denver Police Department that they should try to shoot pool with the gang-bangers to build relationships and reduce gang violence.(Seriously) Well, if they ever decide to act on that well-thought-out recommendation they should start at Phil’s, because the couple times I’ve been in there at night there have been guys with gang tatt’s shooting pool.(Seriously) Not my bag, baby.

So, this is just a little dive in the«hood» and I say that with great affection. Mostly a bar but Junie Garcia cranks out some awesome Mexican food 7 – 5(hours may vary at the owner’s whim) Tues — Saturday. Truly great green chile. Can’t believe I’m the first to review. If you’ve never been, you really should check it out.
