Super meh. It seems to be a common theme that nobody in Denver can truly pull off a good pizza. Proto’s appears to be following the unfortunate norm and bandwagon catering to the total lack of culture that is Denver, especially this man bun saturated part of town. Nobody who knows a good pizza want’s that light, flaky, cop out crust. Give me substance, give me GLUTEN. *gasp* «Oh dear, did he say g-?!» ponders nearby overly REI sporting man bun rocking patron — yea dude, gluten. Proto’s super meh pizza is a direct side effect of Denver’s man bun epidemic.

This is great pizza. We had the Roman. Super yummy. The service was weird but I guess fine. I think she may have been using some medication. I asked her for some and she did not share. Minus one star.

Love at first bite! Crispy thin crust wood fire pizza! We enjoyed the pontiff Pie and the low rider. Both were excellent choices. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I felt the price was a little high.

after a year in denver, I’m happy to have found this place! I have been settling on lesser pizzas. but no more! all you have to do is order any pizza from their menu. any pizza will do. because it’s not so much about the toppings as it is about the crust and the kind of bite experience. although I will say that the sauce and cheese used are perfectly portioned and majorly delicious. the next step is to lightly drizzle the amber colored olive oil on the pizza. then eat it like the not scary person you are by chewing and swallowing and repeating. success!

I am in love! From the spicy oil to the thin crust. Perfect pizza. I want to eat there everyday. I’ll be honest I’m the type of person that wants everything on their pizza but a simple cheese pizza here is just perfect. Actually all their pizzas are good. The general manager is inviting and warm and I love that in a restaurant. Now the owner wow she does it all I saw her making pizza and then sweeping outside after. You can tell she cares for her business and that’s why it is so delicious! I wish them many years of success!

Absolutely yummy pizza and the waitress great. Except… they denied me ranch because the owner does not agree because of the ‘italian’ experience. Told to go across the street if I wanted some.lmao. dayummm

Loved the speed and prompt service but pizza was missing the sauce and edges were burnt. Good for late night beer hunger pangs but maybe hit Paxtis for more yum(no I don’t work there)

We came here to watch a broncos game and enjoy some pizza. We ordered pepperoni pizza and it was far from what other people say in their reviews. It had very little red sauce, and no more than one or two pieces of pepperoni per slice. They also forgot to bring the appetizer, which finally came after the pizza. Maybe they were just busy that day, but our experience was not satisfying.

Quaint little pizza place with excellent pizza. We had the«traffic jam» pizza and it was great. They have a little outside patio and a nice atmosphere. Service was a little slow but we weren’t in a hurry so we weren’t too worried about a thing.

Not bad. Not great. Honestly, I prefer a nice greasy NY slice to the over-priced gourmet pizzas that are flooding the market these days. None of the four pizzas that my table ordered were that impressive. I blame myself for deciding to try the anchovies pizza. I probably wouldn’t choose to come back here, but I wouldn’t protest if the option were proposed. The location is unbeatable, though.

Having recently moved from what I liked to refer to as the«Pizza Triangle»(a location in Cap Hill triangluated by three ‘Chicago’ style deep dish joints and punctuated along the parameter with NY Style places), I would like to consider myself an expert on Denver pizzerias. Proto’s scores points for being unique and have a distinct and different flavor — often steering heavily away from red sauces in favor of unique white sauces and traditional Margarita style pizzas. The taste is excellent if you enjoy Greek or Italian heavy pies — tons of flavorful olives, artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes. The crust is cracker thin and has a flatbread feel, if you’re into that sort of thing. While this would generally be the opposite of my traditional«style», it was still delicious. That said, the feeling isn’t necessarily«satisfying» the same way you would feel when you’re done eating, say, a Deep Dish pie from Nicollo’s or a NYC style grease slice from sexy. You know, the«I’m going to birth a baby of cheese and tomato grease, so roll my into the living room and prop me on the couch» feeling. Sometimes that’s what you want with pizza — the damn good dirrty dirrty. This is classy pie and there is a time and a place for it. My one holdup is the price. The pies are expensive and that is likely due to the quality ingredients, but it is a rough feeling to fork over the dollars when there are suitable alternatives in the area. What you pay for at Proto’s is class and location — the gorgeous Platte River and the fun Platte Street/Riverfront Park neighborhood have a cool vibe.

Proto’s is one of my favorite pizza joints in town. I love that I can get an individual pizza and an infused vodka drink or a special seasonal mojito. The ingredients here are always fresh and tasty. This place is a bit hipster and trendy, but the people who work there are always friendly. It’s not a big place, but you can usually get in for dinner without too much of a wait.

First, I have to preface with I am not a huge thin crust fan — but my husband loves wood fired pizza. The pizza here was actually really good. I would recommend getting mediums as the dough on the small pizzas is a little too thin and crispy. We ordered the low rider and the margarita DOCG. Both were fabulous! I’d have to say that the sauce on the low rider(chipotle/honey combo) was very unique. It was sweet with some kick. The margarita’s mozzarella was so good — nice and thick and gooey. I would definitely consider coming back here but only if we got larger pizzas. I wouldn’t do smalls again — too thin and crispy for me.

We went in there on a Sunday snowy night after wandering around REI and don’t want to look for a dinner far away. The server was trying to put us into a small round table by the door and get the cold air every time people walk in and out when there were still many empty tables inside. So we asked to sit inside to get away from cold air instead. Once we sat down, the server did warn us that the service may be slow because they got a full house. So she recommended us getting tomatoes and mozzarella, a really amazing dish according to our server, as an appetizer while waiting for our pizza. We did. After we ordered our pizza, the tomatoes and mozzarella arrived with a side of spinach. It took a long while after we finished the appitzer until the waitress came back to us and apologize for the delay and said that the kitchen forgot our pizza. We weren’t in a hurry nor super hungry, so we didn’t really say anything and was OK to wait a bit for our food. The pizza overall were just ok. The tomatoes and mozzarella was not bad, just simple that I’m not sure if there’s anything amazing. I would only give 2.5 stars for the food itself. When the bill arrived, we found that there’s $ 2 charge on spinach that come with tomatoes and mozzarella that nobody ordered nor mentioned by our server. I really don’t think this is a good business practice at all. This should not be the way that the restaurant try to make money. They would be able to keep customers coming back to them by simply not forgetting customers’ order but not up charging for spinach that nobody ordered. I’ll never go back here again.

We ordered a spinach salad with bacon, feta and avacodo and the Ruby Pie with added prosciutto. It was the perfect lunch for two to share… accompanied with a glass of red. Awesome! We sat outside. A little crowded but entertaining as we ease dropped on the next table. COLORADOIS A Marijuana approved state.. I believe we arrived a «munchie» hour! Waiter and staff were perfect. Not too slow and never rushed us. Great spot. I’ll be back next time I’m in the Denver area.

Pizza time! I love me some Protos! A cool little pizzeria located in a trendy neighborhood that serves up a delicious pie… now that’s what I’m talking about! As an avid lover of pizza, I find myself constantly perusing Unilocal looking for a decent place to enjoy a delicious Pizza with my lady. Well low and behold look no further what a delight Protos is for that perfect Friday night date. On our last occasion we came in at 5:30, because they don’t take reservations and the place gets packed if you don’t pick the right pocket. Score! Happy hour from 3−6…Jackpot! Delicious drinks and cheap appetizer… Oh Yeah! After finishing up our aperitifs, next up was the pizza and wine. As my gf and I don’t have the same tastes we opted for a little make your own and it was made to perfection, it comes on a thin crust so if that’s not your style you might opt elsewhere. For me though delicious! Along with the tasty pizza, the bottle of house red was amazing! I’m not a conissour of wines by any means but this was a heck of a tasty bottle for $ 21. Overall we had an amazing time, fantastic conversations and spectacular service as well. I highly recommend anyone to hit this joint up you won’t be disapointed!

Crispy crust and soft center! Best of all, the ingredients taste so so fresh! We ordered the pizza margherita with added pepperoni. The tomatoes were so rich and juicy. Yum. :) I will definitely be back here.

What a cool little place a stone’s throw from the REI flagship store and Colt & Gray. Proto’s has a small street-side patio which is perfect on a Colorado Summer night. One of the owners attended to us for a bit before handing us off(to Rachel?). Very cordial and attentive service. Only complaints: Very small draft selection. And my wife’s margarita at $ 8+ was TINY. It was served in a highball glass. Yep, that small. The pizza prices were fair, and are traditional Italian style thin crust«pies».

What could I say about Proto’s that hasn’t been said a million times before? It’s delicious. It’s fresh. It has the most amazing flavors. I ordered the Pontiff pie, so crazy delicious… honestly, the tomatoes on it were juicy and went well with the pizza. You know what makes food good? When it transports you back to a distant memory, and this place reminded me of the pizza place I frequent in Berkeley during college. Now that I am going through a 4 letter word called WORK, eating this pizza makes me so happy and satisfied. It’s not even pricey and depending on what you get, you can easily pay a little more than $ 10 for a medium(12 inch) pizza. Such a great deal!

We ordered the special salad of the weekend which was a romaine salad with tomatoes, pesto vinaigrette, and pineapple and a large pontif pizza. The salad was mediocre at best. The lettuce was clearly roughly torn and there were ridiculously large pieces and felt pretty hearted but tasted okay. The Pontif pizza was good, the crust was nice and crispy on the edges just the way I like it.
