A great place to visit on a nice day with lots of outside seating and outside heaters. The tater tots with green chili was delicious! Crispy tots and pork filled chili(not just liquid like a lot of chilies). The pork sliders were also delicious! They have a great beer selection and we will definitely be back.

First of all… Tots, dark nitro beer and a sweet chill spot for hanging and watching a game! The bartender we had was awesome! From him giving us samples of there homemade hot cider to juggling us and our ginormous table with his packed full bar. He always made us feel comfortable. Food amazing, everything we had. Games are fun to play and football was on their 3 massive tvs. Decent prices for everything we got especially for the area. Check them out. They are a beer garden thought so you won’t find this as a brewery, which I was mistaken.

Love the concept of Recess — brings you back to grade school days! Drink prices are great and food gets the job done. Expect to sit or stand and it is a bit loud but a great place for friends and day drinking!

Great food, really fun atmosphere(inside and out) and the customer service was amazing! This place was so hopping we could not even find a seat in house. Marty the bar tender took us right outside set us up with two heaters and gave us amazing customer service. It was almost better sitting outside looking in and if that makes any sense. Marty was down-to-earth, friendly and made us feel at home. His customer service is what every owner wishes for at their place of service. This place is really cool and we will definitely be back for multiple reasons!

Recess is great. I didn’t discover it until the cold weather hit, so I haven’t gotten to enjoy the outdoor space. I’m looking forward to springtime, and I have a feeling I’m going to be spending entirely too much time in the outdoor beer garden. Service has always been terrific. Food(can’t go wrong with the barbecue board or mac and cheese) is excellent as well.

Awesome outdoor space, one of my favorites. Food was average, not bad but not impressive.

Fun atmosphere in the middle of an urban jungle. The food is decent and the service is friendly. This place gets packed, so be sure to go early if you want to avoid the crowd and valet park!

After a long weekend of eating and drinking from Denver to Boulder and back, Recess was by far my favorite of all the stops. After trekking all the way up to the airport in a crazy amount of snow to drop a friend off, a good Happy Hour was much needed and we were in luck that Recess starts theirs at 3 pm. If you like Happy Hour, well you’re in luck because they do it from 3 – 7 and it includes beer, cocktails and food. We were freezing and starving so we opted for the burger sliders, pulled pork sliders and chili cheese tots and it was all delicious. I’m not a green chili person(don’t hate me!) so we went with red chili on the tots and they were nice enough to bring me a little side of green chili hoping to sway me. It was good, but I’m still not a fan. If there were ever a green chili to change my mind I’m pretty sure this would have been the one. We were also lucky enough to catch the chef bringing in some meats from the smoker and he brought over two ribs for us to try. SUPER smoky and pretty yummy. They also have a good variety of taps — everything from domestics to a sour to a few good IPA and dark options. We were told it gets pretty crazy during Broncos game and I could see it getting ULTRA crazy during the nice weather months on game days, but they have a huge outdoor space so hopefully it won’t feel super crowded. Either way, when I decide I need my whole days calories in one bowl, this is where you’ll find me huddled over some chili cheese tots.

This place is not great. I’m sure it’s awesome if you’re into sports bar kinds of things, but it’s not really my scene. The service was good and the drinks were OK. If you’re looking to meet a dude, this is a great idea cause it’s RIDDLED with them.

A really cool outdoor space in Lohi. It was a great place to meet a semi-large group due to the big tables and plentiful space. They have some lawn games and big tvs too, which makes it perfect for hanging out outside. The bar itself is on the smaller side, but that’s not the main draw here anyway, so I didn’t mind it. On my visit, I didn’t sample the food and I wasn’t super impressed with the beer list, but checking out their website, it seems that they’ve updated the list since then, and it looks much better. I can definitely see enjoying some beer on their impressive patio once the weather gets warmer.

Recess is a terrific venue with a 5 star crew running the show. Great outdoor space if you want to hang by the fire or grab a picnic table to relax in the sun with friends. Don’t overlook the setup they’ve got for bags and the many indoor/outdoor bar seats to watch the game du jour. haven’t tried the food yet but I hear the green chile tots and pulled pork sandwich are awesome. Definitely coming back when the kitchen is open. Great times, can’t wait for my next visit.

I really enjoyed this place. Great way to spend a warm fall evening. The beers were good and priced well. There was plenty of room at the community tables and the vibe from the crowd was great. They allow dogs so plenty of friendly pups running around. We also had some food and have to say they maybe my favorite wings in Denver I am a sucker for smoked wings and these were great, the homemade blue cheese dressing was on point too. My buddy got the smoked pork sandwich and it looked good and he was happy with it. The inside is not really big so come winter time they may struggle a bit but the interior also has a good vibe to it. We had a blast on Friday. Server was also friendly engaging an was able to keep up with the crowd.

Decent beer list, not the best ever for a «beer garden». Did not try the food, but it looked alright. Good atmosphere but very very very crowded late night saturdays.

My friend and I find this place recently. It opened in August 2015 I think. I love the atmosphere, friendly bartenders, and eye candy. It us a great location and well done décor in Lohi.

Save your time and money and go somewhere else! But most importantly, save your TIME. The waitress was friendly as heck, so there is no blaming the disappointment of a visit on her behalf. To make this review shorter, I’ll just hit the reasons why my friends and I WILLNOTRETURN. — 2 and a half hour wait for food. And then when we got it, it was mediocre at best. They also completely forgot an entrée and we had to wait an extra 30 minutes for that. — we couldn’t get a second round of beers if our life depended on it. — one entrée was an apple salad of sorts made with CANEDPEARS. C’mon ya jokester. Also a side of a huge hair. We did get management to comp 50% of our meal and even then, the ticket was wrong and there were extra entrees. I don’t know if the manager was trying to pull a fast one on us, or his incompetence overcame him. Like I said before, had a terrible time. Won’t be returning.

Okay, new place in the hood. Went here last night and had some beers and good food. They did have a few problems(we were overcharged on our bill, small plates for sharing food haven’t come yet) but we know the place is brand new and our waitress also explained that. I always give a new place a few weeks to get settled so we completely understood. Beers: good selection about 20 beers on tap, was hoping for more though. Good variety of Colorado beers and out of state beers as well — Oregon beers! Food: The Mac & cheese was bomb. My dad(self proclaimed BBQ master) got the St. Louis style pork ribs and was in heaven. This is a HUGE compliment coming from him because I can’t tell you how many places he gets ribs and is disappointed. I generally prefer beef ribs but if you’re a pork person these ribs are awesome, good bark, nice smoke flavor. As for the beef sliders… Very average. The buns are too big and dense and our beef was cooked well done so they ended up being chewy. Atmosphere: Perfect. Dogs are allowed on the patio, there’s a fire pit, corn hole, good music! Overall a solid 4 stars and is a great place to come with a beautiful atmosphere

Came here on a Sunday night and enjoyed myself with my friend. Pros: — AWESOME space, lots of outdoor space for couple, groups or parties — Food was decent, we got the sliders(good taste, a little dry) and the artichoke dip(yummy and huge!) Cons: — Service was ok, I’d probably wait few before coming back as they work out the kinks — The beer list was good, but for a beer garden I’d expect a little more selection Overall, I’d recommend Recess to friends and let them enjoy the awesome space as for the service and drink list, there’s a lot of other places in the area to check out.

Excellent multi-level open space has a patio and gigantic beer garden beyond it. I was here on its first ‘official’ opening day and the menu was intentionally limited, so we didn’t get to make many choices. Indoors has quite a long bar and lounge area, but clearly the outdoor levels will make the venue a hit. Nice selection of beers and ales with a good sampling of local brews, including a seasonal selection. The sliders were served as triplets and there were 3 different ones offered, but for some peculiar reason, we could only order one kind per plate, all the same — that won’t win them any points. They were very good, as were the tater tots with green chile(spelled ‘chili’ eastern style on the menu.) The beers were very reasonably priced but the food seemed pricey.($ 9 for tots?) Service gets 3 out 5 stars, with infrequent stops by servers at the tables as well as missed and incorrect orders. I’m sure this will work itself out as it gets its sea legs. No Wi-Fi … bummer.

Next to Postino LoHi. It doesn’t look like much from the front. But the charm is indoors and especially outdoors! There is full size outdoor corn hole and fantastic seating, you’ll feel like you are on recess indeed! Great space and the food was tasty! Excellent sliders and mac n cheese!!! The bar tending staff was friendly, engaging and efficient! Check it out and ask for my favorite guy Mookie! A Denver bar tending legend and now in his new home. The owners of this new spot hit it out of the park. And that’s as it should be, because it is Recess after all!
