I remember the first time I had Ramen as a kid, this place blows that experience out of the water. I had the Spicy Miso Ramen w/a boiled egg and it was great. It is a slightly big portion almost enough for 2 people. Servers were nice. Over all a good experience, and when in town again I would defiantly come back.

Probably one of the cheapest places to eat if you’re downtown. I came here when I was in an all day training event with several friends. It’s a little confusing whether or not you seat yourself(actually, I’m still not clear on this). Service is a bit slow and the ambiance/décor is not what you’d expect of a downtown restaurant. I. DO. NOT. CARE. Food was flavorful and satisfying, and well-priced for downtown. I had chasu ramen, which was a huge bowl that I happily slurped down. My friends enjoyed their bento box(couldn’t decide what she wanted), udon, and some kind of egg/omelet type meal(served with rice). Everyone was groaning when we finished, lamenting the need to return to our training. However, see note above that service is not fast. We might’ve been late getting back. I don’t recommend this joint if you are in a rush. I probably also wouldn’t come if I had to drive and park. But, I will keep this in mind if I’m downtown anyway!

I don’t know why in the world we decided to eat ramen when traveling all the way to Denver, but we did, and we found this place on Unilocal and was so excited to try this place out. The high ratings really interested us into trying this place – enough to call an Über so we can eat here. It was a little difficult for us to find, we asked around to see if anyone knew where the restaurant was and we finally found it. It’s pretty hidden, in some random building. It’s not located where there are rows of restaurants and bars, so I really thought I found a hidden gem! BTW: I’m such a huge sucker for hole-in-the-wall, mom&pop type of restaurants~ So we came to dine here – and it’s definitley a hole-in-the-wall, definitley mom&pop, definitley old and untouched, and drumroll please… Definitley NOTGOOD. Once me and my BF took a bite, we just stared at each other. I really don’t understand the high reviews. Sure, the service was great – the lady was nice and friendly, but the food? Hmm… Maybe I expected too much? Maybe I had my share of AMAZEBALLS ramen that this place didn’t blow it out of the water? Regardless, it was not worth the über drive and I would not come back here. Seems more like a restaurant for the locals who really want ramen but can’t find it elsewhere.

Atmosphere: 4 — Nothing special but nothing to complain about. Service: 5 — Very nice. Price: 5 — Cheap! Food: 3 — I ordered Katsudon. It’s good but not outstanding to me.

I got chashu ramen, with an extra egg, butter, and bamboo shoots. I didn’t come expecting ramen as good as what one finds in Japan, or even Ippudo, Totto, Jin, etc., for the New Yorkers. But, the egg was simply a hard-boiled egg and not the soy-sauce marinated soft boiled egg that is ajitsuke tamago. The chashu was overcooked and didn’t appear to have any sauce that you cook it in. I know how to prepare ajitsuke tamago and chashu, so both can be prepared well pretty easily. My belief is if you have a restaurant, put out good food. This wasn’t offensive, but the broth and noodles certainly did not make up for the egg and chashu. If the service wasn’t so friendly(I left a 20% tip), I’d give it 2 stars.

Great ramen spot! Have been twice and will be back many more times. It’s not sexy or modern but that’s what makes it so good. Authenticity.

I love a good ethnic restaurant that has authentic food. I had ramen and edamame and it was excellent! This is a no frills, authentic Japanese restaurant. My ramen was really good. I got the traditional ramen, which had pork in it. So if you’re vegatarian double check with your server which ones have meat because mine did not have pork in the description. It wasn’t salty either which was great. I think I expected it to be salty because of it being a brothy soup, but I was wrong! There is ample space at Sakura House so be sure to bring your friends!

Came in the middle of the day. It’s a quirky little location, just outside of the busy part of downtown, but still surrounded by sky scrapers. all of Sakura Square is pretty interesting. Buddhist temple around the corner. Decent meter parking nearby. The restaurant itself is welcoming, has a very homey feel, nothing fancy, but still feels modern with it’s nice paint and giant windows. It was also very clean, and surprisingly quiet. We had to wait quite a while for our waitress to come around despite it not being so busy, but once she came it got real good. My friend who came with me is vegetarian, so he was having a hard time finding something on the menu that he could eat. There was a language barrier between us and the waitress, but she was very patient and helpful. If you are vegetarian, there is only one vegetarian dish on the menu. It’s mashed potato chunks covered in panko bread crumbs. Pretty good, and comes with some side dishes and sauce on a nice presentable tray. I got Tonkotsu ramen. It came out quick and was very tasty. It was different from other ramen that I’ve had. The best way I can describe it is that it tasted homemade. Maybe like a traditional Japanese grandma made it lol. The noodles were a little rubbery which was different, they never really got soggy. The pork was sliced thick and very subtle in flavor. I really liked it. Also everything was really cheap. This is my new favorite place to eat downtown. I’ll definitely be back for more.

I’ve been here over the years, but a recent visit reminded me of how good it is. It’s not stylish or hip, but they serve up solid Japanese diner food. The ramen is as good, if not better, than some of the trendy shops that have popped up. It’s also cheaper than the others. I don’t understand why it’s never crowded when I go. It’s inexpensive and delicious.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. After reading the reviews we decided this was the place to try for ramen. The staff were nice albeit slow. The food was pretty good. My husband and I shared the ramen and my two young sons shared a need bowl. I’ve had ramen before in Minneapolis that I thought was better but this ramen satisfied my ramen craving for now. Parking was not a problem!

I ordered the tenzaru soba and loved it! The noodles were perfect and the dipping sauce was delicious! My friend ordered the tempura with soba and I ate some of it as well. It was great and I really liked the miso broth. The service was quick. They weren’t remarkably chatty but to me that’s a good thing. I’ll be back to try some of the ramen on the menu!

I came here for lunch last week on Friday and honestly I would say its the worst restaurant experience I have ever had, it was very strange. When we came in the first thing we were told was that the wait was about 20 minutes but they weren’t sure if would be longer. We sat ourselves in a room full of no one eating… I guess we should have left at that point, but we waited for 40 minutes for food, asked how long it would take and they told us another 15 minutes. We had to leave to go back to work and never even got our appetizer(fried chicken). I heard good things but after this experience I am not willing to give this restaurant another try

This place has some decent ramen bowls at good prices. It really hits the spot on a cold Colorado day for lunch. The service is a bit plodding, yet oddly genuine and kind at the same time. The interior is totally no-frills, the focus is exclusively on the food to price ratio and in my humble estimation, they lead the pack in this regard. Housed in the now aging Sakura Square, Sakura House is hot!

I like that this restaurant has items other than sushi. Not all Japanese restaurants have to sell sushi! That being said, we came here to get ramen on a really cold day and it really hit the spot – warms up the heart and soul. The noodles were tasty, but the star of the show was really the broth. It’s very flavorful and rich. The service could have been faster, but if you want affordable and delicious Japanese food, I would highly recommend this place.

Best Ramen in town. Authentic Ramen made the way it’s supposed to be. This place is not a $ 15.00 a bowl hipster hang out. Thank god! The broths are great and have good depth to them. Unpretentious in a comfortable setting with many great choices. Good apps as well. Koroke is very good. Average bowl is around $ 8.00-$ 9.00 a bowl. This is not a Momofuko knockoff. Ramen seems to be hot in Denver. Hopefully some of the new spots maintain some level of authenticity and aren’t going to sell sub par ramen for $ 15.00.

My friend and coworker and I bopped on down to Sakura Square today, with the ultimate goal of finding a cool lucky bamboo plant for another coworker. We decided to stop in Sakura House for a quick bite — er, «slurp» — to eat before visiting Pacific Mercantile. I had the Chashu Ramen; a HUGE steaming bowl of tender sliced pork in a delicious broth, scrumptious noodles, green onions, sliced bamboo shoots and half a hard-boiled egg. It was wonderful. My lunch date had the Katsu Curry; breaded strips of chicken cutlet in a creamy curry sauce, with a side salad and a cup of yummy miso soup. I tasted it, and it was lovely. I’ll definitely be back to Sakura House soon!

Dropped in on New Year’s Eve with my brother and they were packed. The wait was a bit long for the food but it was expected that day. They were all very friendly there and the service was good. We had the Kara Age and Korokke to start, which was a good start to our meal. I ordered the Mabo Tofu Ramen and my brother ordered the Chashu Ramen. Both came out steaming and the noodles were just the right texture. Enjoyed mine with a bit more spice with Sriracha but overall a good ramen. Love Sakura Square and it’s been a long time since I’ve been down there but I’ll be back for more simple eats!
