Sisters baking is an authentic, home-style bakery located in the heart of 80219, operated by two sisters who love baking. But don’t be fooled by the name, these sisters do more than just bake! During the hot summer days, the sisters apply their culinary skills to cool treats, like ice cream sandwiches, which simply defy description. While this bakery does operate on a puzzling business model(personally, I am yet to pay for anything in my multiple visits), one cannot help but appreciate the authenticity of the bakery. I don’t know of many bakeries that would profess, «It’s too hot to turn on the oven» while still remaining financially viable, but the sisters have found a way. They seem to absorb some of these costs by occasionally selling hand-made crafts, cool drinks, magazine subscriptions, and chocolate bars. It should be noted that, while incredibly charming, this bakery does not necessarily meet the needs of all customers. Namely, Sisters Baking does not maintain regular hours of operation, there is no signage outside the bakery, they have no menu or pricing, and the sisters seem remarkably young to be business owners. But if quaint, hard-to-find operations are your thing, this is the place for you! This bakery operates on an innovative weekly schedule, best explained by way of the store tagline: «Every week we bake something and you try it, rate it, and love it.» As the tagline suggests, the sisters are constantly improving their already incredible recipes by soliciting input from customers. It’s only a matter of time before Westword gets a taste of this bakery. Without question, five stars.
