IF you value ethics in business, please do not shop at any Sprint Stores by Fast Wireless! Fast Wireless is a private company which operates 9 Denver area Sprint Stores(possibly nationwide company?). Locations around Denver area: 3100 S Sheridan(offending store) 14500 W Colfax 12482 W Ken Caryl 10433 Town Center Drive 8401 Park Meadows Dr 14200 E Alameda(home of the elusive female«store manager») 1 W Flatiron Crossing 992 S 4th Ave Brighton CO 1387 N Denver Ave, Loveland Summary: I have a mentally disabled friend who, through his own fault, went into the store at 3100 S Sheridan and ordered Sprint Service and a phone which was to be shipped by Sprint. He told me 30 minutes later when he got home, I immediately got on the line with the employee that sold the phone at 3100 S Sheridan(let’s call him«honest eddy»). He informed me that it was too late to reverse it, that the phone was already ordered, and that to return it we’d have to wait til the phone arrived. I didn’t believe him but I waited. 4 days later the phone arrives. When I get home from work we take it down to the store to return it. Honest Eddy informs us that he can’t take a return, that Sprint Corporate has the money and we have to return it to them instead. We go home, call Sprint, Corporate(let’s call them the Evil Empire), they inform us that Fast Wireless(let’s just call them Fast, because it’s fitting) must return the transaction. I call Honest Eddy, he says he called his manager(let’s call her Sasquatch because I never actually saw her and given that she never returned messages for 4 days I began to believe she was mythical) and Sasquatch tells him they can’t take the return because it has to go back to the Evil Empire and Fast has nothing to do with it now. I call the Evil Empire again, the assure me that yes, it must go back to Fast. I return to Fast and meet with Honest Eddy, confident that I now have the backing of the Evil Empire and that they must comply. Honest Eddy calls Darth Vader at the Evil Empire and they decide instead of returning it at the store to my friend’s credit card and taking it from our hands right at that moment, that they will ship a «return kit» to my house instead. I ask what that is. Why, it’s a box that they ship me in 7 to 10 days that I then put my phone into and ship it back to the Evil Empire, and once the Evil Empire has decreed that the phone is indeed complete and meets their satisfaction, they will issue a refund in 2 to 3 weeks by check(never mind that we could hand him the phone right then, and since my friendpaid by credit card and it could just be sent back to the card). Now we decide that we may not meet the 14 day return deadline under the scenario for return dreamed up by Darth and Eddy. I call the Evil Empire(keep in mind every call to EE takes in the ballpark of 30 minutes of «pressing 4» and waiting on hold and re-explaining the details over and over) again and ask what the consequences will be if the phone return isn’t received and approved by the Empire within 14 days. Well, it turns out, that I will then have an active line and on day 15 I will get a «early termination penalty» of $ 360. But wait, I explain, I had the phone in my hand ready to hand it over just an hour ago at the store, I also offered to take it a to Evil Empire Corporate Store instead, so how could they then charge an early termination penalty? She said, not only would that penalty apply, but a «unreturned equipment charge» would apply, I didn’t even ask what that would cost, probably what $ 500? But again, I tried to hand you the phone, you wouldn’t take it, now if it doesn’t arrive in the mail in 14 days I get charged? I ask the Evil Empire to consider that since they have known about my friend’s desire to return the phone and service since 30 min after the sale that maybe they could make some internal notes on the account to prevent those fees from being imposed, knowing that since neither of them will accept my equipment in person in Denver across a counter, that my friend may be deeply financially penalized because of a timing problem with the shipment. «There is nothing we can do about that» says Spaceball #17. Why not? Because we at the Evil Empire can’t force Fast Wireless to refund the phone in the store, so we must follow the designated procedure, and if time runs out, they absolutely are helpless to stop their own billing system from penalizing me! Originally I thought the Evil Empire was blameless in this scenario and Fast Wireless was the dishonest party, but now I realize after 5 days and 30 phone calls that they are BOTHCROOKED. Fast Eddy sets up the dupe, makes the charge to the credit card, dodges and weaves the complaints, refers them to a fictional manager that is supposed to call back and never does, meanwhile 14 days is ticking and the Death Star is about to unleash the laser that is their penalty fee structure on a disabled victim.
