You will feel like you are in the best candy factory movie, and all the sugary, tasty and complex inventions are real. I pinch myself when I am there to make sure I am not dreaming! Enjoy! You can’t go wrong! Yummy

The concept is interesting. The experience is pleasant. NONETHELESS, this place only lands four stars. If I were to come back here it would be for the visual appeal; the taste isn’t anything special. I would honestly rather have regular dessert. Free popcorn though: D

The Crème Brulee Crepes with Strawberry Ice Cream are in the vicinity of the best sweet treat I have ever known, and maybe hope to know. Strawberry ice cream made in 60 seconds, via the magic of liquid nitrogen, with a side of fresh strawberries, a crêpe full of crème brûlée and the sugar topping flame caramelized before your very eyes. Stand in front of the glass in this small establishment to watch the nitro chef create the magic of instantly frozen dream deserts. They will make science right in front of you. Then eat the evidence. 6 stars, two thumbs and 10 toes up.

This place is the definition of fun! I really love this place. The sweets and treats are just DELICIOUS. The ambience of the place is very cool; Gears, copper pipes and biles are all over the walls like a steampunk theme. The staff is also very nice. I would definitely recommend this place. Just go and give it a try. Oh and if you wonder why there’s a lot of little white dots on the floor, prepare to be amazed and shocked in a fun way!

I have never felt inclined to create a Unilocal!account until I tried The Inventing Room. I entered the store with optimism as one of the friendly workers offered me and my cousin some on-the-house nitro popcorn. Sweet! We ended up ordering the crème brûlée crepes with strawberry ice cream and the lemon curd sundae as recommended by the other Unilocalers. It was a neat experience, but was it worth the $ 13 we spent? Absolutely not. The crème brûlée crepes were average-nothing spectacular. However, the lemon curd sundae was absolutely horrendous. It tasted of spoiled milk with no hint of lemon at all. I’m not sure if this is how it’s supposed to taste, but I felt nauseous after three bites. I’m not one to waste food, but that $ 6 cup of ice cream went straight into the trash. Overall, The Inventing Room is a unique experience with a friendly atmosphere, but avoid the lemon curd ice cream at all costs!!!

SUCH A NEATEXPERIENCE. Nitrogen desserts, need I say more? My BF and I were visiting Denver, and we knew we had to try this. Not only is the show as the make it is cool, the desserts are actually freaking devious. Like MINDBLOWN good. When we first walked in, we were asked if it was out first time. They gave a complimentary experience, they gave us the cinnamon nitro popcorn. Which when you ate it smoke came out of your mouth. After that delightful experience, we ordered. They recommended the Cherry Vanilla Mousse with Chocolate Cotton Candy, and boy were we happy they did. That was one of our favorites. The exploding whipped cream was pretty cool… it was like pop-rocks popping out of our whipped cream. The cherry and dark chocolate was a delicious combination, and cotton candy just melted in you mouth with the ice cream. Playing along with textures, and both melt in your mouth as you eat it. Great concept. We also got the Pomegranate-Mango Yogurt Smoothie. Which was more like a thick ice cream with A LOT of bits of Mangos and Pomegranate. But seriously on the realness, the MANGO bits were the real champs. Greek yogurt gave it the twang-tang. It was like a froyo blizzard. I def recommend for everyone to go here! It was so good. Even after long leaving Denver, I think I still dream about it.

Holy Smoking Popcorn! This ain’t your father’s Dairy Queen. Liquid nitrogen really adds some pizzazz to the offerings. We shared 2 sundaes and they were both unusually good. The smoke and crackling candies set this place apart from the rest of the pack.

Unilocal challenge 2016(53⁄100) WOWOW I LOVETHISPLACE! I wish I could come here everyday. It’s so COOOL!(Lol get it?) First they welcome you with Chocolate Cinnamon NITRO Popcorn as you look at the menu. It has that cool smoke effect when you eat it. There were so many things we wanted to try! We ended up getting the Really really cold Cheetos, the Crème Brûlée Crêpe with strawberries and lemon ice cream, the Smores ice cream sandwich, the Frozen Mocha with exploding whipped cream, Espresso Waffle with Maple ice cream. Honestly, everything was delicious! The texture of the ice cream was a lot better than nitro ice cream back home. They hand mix it instead of using the machines. The ice cream also melts pretty easily so eat it as soon as you can! The nitro Cheetos were a lot better than the popcorn in my opinion. You have to eat those fast too to get the cool effect of the nitrogen! I want to come back already!

We stopped by to check this spot out, although the service was great, the free popcorn and coffee slush was okay. Cool to watch them making it but its not anything special

If you want an experience unlike anything else you’ve had before, you need to go here! You are immediately greeted by soothing blue walls filled with unique gadgets that spark your mind with curiosity. You’re then handed a bag of free popcorn or Cheetos dipped in liquid nitrogen. The cold and crunchy texture would be enough, but no, steam comes out of your freaking nose and mouth! The menu is filled with dessert items you would never think to combine. There is cotton candy, exploding whipped cream, space foam, chocolate pop rocks, fruit caviar and much, much more. My personal favorite is the ice cream sandwich with toasted marshmallow. It is dipped in liquid nitrogen so the ice cream doesn’t get melty and the sandwich keeps its shape. Brilliant twist on an old favorite! The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They tell you what they’re doing while making your food so you can watch the magic happen. Chef Ian Kleinman(basically a modern-day Willy Wonka) transforms boring old desserts into exciting items you would never have thought of. Its name, «The Inventing Room,» is a perfect fit for this dessert shop! I have taken many friends and family here and it is so much fun to watch their excitement. You can’t help feeling like a kid again. The entire experience is unique, exciting and most importantly, delicious! Enjoy! PS They cater!!!

I’m going to be very specific and give this place 3.7 stars becauseI feel conflicted. I love the concept, I love the set up. One of my friends got the cotton candy/cherry/chocolate item on the menu. The texture combo’s in her dessert were great because the cotton candy was fluffy and melts in your mouth, and the cherry mousse was a little thicker, smoother and creamier. Now comes the disappointment: I was SO excited for the lemon curd ice cream, but it just tasted like vanilla ice cream! I recall only ONE bite tasting like the zesty, sour/sweet lemon flavor I was expecting. Skip the lemon curd ice cream. I will give this place another try because all the other items on the menu look amazing. I also like that the menu isn’t overpowering, but diverse enough. Customer service is good, I like how they incorporate a learning experience and demonstration through dessert.

It’s like science meets sweets, and you get to eat the inventions. I hadn’t been in Denver for more than a few hours this trip, when I found the place and wandered over for a little lunch dessert. I was worried that it would be a little bit gimmicky – and for sure, they’re hitting those few keys of the piano pretty hard – but I think it was the friendly but not too zany demeanor of the dude running the place that really won me over. You walk in, and have to wait to be seated. I bellied up to the bar, but before I could really say much I was handed a paper bag with the frozen popcorn. The fella running things didn’t make a big deal out of it, but he just handed it over and let me try it after dumping the liquid nitrogen. It’s a pretty cool(no pun intended) experience to bite into it and have it crack apart in your mouth, and then have copious amounts of cold mist come out of your mouth. I ordered the frozen lemon curd with blueberries and toasted marshmallow meringue. The blueberries were of the blueberry-muffin-mix variety, but honestly I didn’t mind. Besides that, the curd was nice, sweet, not too tangy, and it varied from frozen like ice cream, to melty like ice cream that’s been out for a while. The whole thing really worked, and that they top it off with the marshmallow and toast it in front of you with a torch is a nice touch. There were lots of other things on the menu that I didn’t get to try, plus it looks like they do specials from time to time. I saw an old photo of a donut special, so that might be something to look out for. Again, YMMV as it really was the attitude of the bearded fella who was running things that day. I can see that if someone was to hype it up, it might seem like too much. It’s a fine line between gimmicks and innovation/being different, and I think they nailed it down pretty well on my visit. And when you get a tasty treat out of it, even better.

I am not a chemist, however, I think cooking food in liquid nitrogen is freaking cool. The Inventing Room has utilized the properties of liquid nitrogen to fast freeze ice cream and other goodies such as popcorn and Cheetos puffs which is totally innovative and amazing. What is even more amazing is the texture and taste of the ice cream churned in liquid nitrogen. My boyfriend and I came in on a «Sunday funday» and ordered the s’more ice cream sandwich and the espresso waffle & maple ice cream. Everything is made to order and right in front of the customer. Yes, there will be smoke and occasionally, FIRE(you have to smoke those marshmallows for the s’more). I was not a big fan of the ice cream sandwich though. The cookies that was used to sandwich the ice cream was too hard for my teeth that is currently undergoing orthodontic treatment. However, the ice cream was so creamy and divine. If I can get a cup or maybe a whole pint of this delicious concoction I would be in heaven. Definitely check out The Inventing Room for a good time and maybe you too can get a free sample of their cinnamon chocolate nitro popcorn.

If you like hipster gimmicks, this is the place for you. They even have a steampunk-esque gear as their sign logo outside. Someone hands you nitrogen infused popcorn when you walk in the door. If you are still as stoked about dry ice as you were in second grade, you might be really excited to feel like you have something similar in your mouth and to see the fog pour out. But on a gustatory level, it did nothing for me. I got the lemon curd, which seems to be very popular here. I found it to be yummy, but nothing amazing. I would have preferred some high quality, traditionally made ice cream. The ingredients were clearly top notch, but I thought the nitro process only detracted from those flavors. I don’t mind when San Francisco fads become all the rage, but only when they actually taste as good or better than what they are trying to replace.

a truly unique experience in the heart of Denver. We’ve been wanting to come for a few months now and it didn’t disappoint. The informative and friendly staff made our night with these delicious concoctions. We had the lemon curd ice cream with burnt meringue and it was amazing. But it was also a very difficult choice because everything else on the menu was creative and enticing. We’ll be heading back on a regular basis.

How have I not been to the Inventing Room yet??? After eating here, I don’t want to get dessert anywhere else ever again. Upon entering the little shop, I noticed and loved their their eclectic decoration, which reminds me of the Willy Wonka factory. One of the chefs offered us a sample of the chocolate popcorn, which was smoking due to the liquid nitrogen. It was fun to eat because of the texture and the coldness, which made it so we could see our breath! I was torn between the smores sandwich and the lemon curd ice cream, and settled on the lemon one because it sounded refreshing. I watched them make it in the liquid nitrogen, then torch the meringue for a smokey flavor. How cool! The taste was absolutely AMAZING! For $ 6, the dessert was definitely worth it. I can’t wait to go back!

I cannot describe how much I love The Inventing Room! This dessert place is truly a gem in little, old Denver. If you have not checked out this place, I highly recommend you do. It would be a great dessert spot for an after-dinner treat. When you first walk in, you are greeted with a delicious bag of Cinnamon Chocolate Nitro Popcorn. I have fallen in love with this pre-dessert appetizer. The crunchy texture and cool surface of the popcorn makes it very unique. Honestly, I’ve never had anything like it. In addition to this bag of awesomeness, our helper let us try a frozen cheeto when we asked. That is some damn good customer service! In general, liquid nitrogen ice cream isn’t super unique nowadays because it has been around for awhile in other cities. However, The Inventing Room does have an unique spin on their desserts because they have interesting pairings to go along with their creations. The first time I came to visit I had an ice cream sandwich made of a pumpkin cookie and cream cheese ice cream. The texture and taste were great! Seriously, could not have asked for more! The second time I went, I had the Coconut Milk Sorbet with Pomegranate Bubbles and Brown Sugar Pineapple. The savory taste of the coconut milk with the tartness of the pomegranate and pineapple worked so well. I have also never seen pomegranate bubbles before. It is an awesome concept full of flavor. Please please come support this local business! They are seriously bomb. I will definitely be back to try more creations in the future.

A must visit in Denver! As soon as we walked in we were treated to a sample of chocolate cinnamon popcorn that was frozen in liquid nitrogen. The menu was thoroughly explained to us, and at that point we just wanted to try everything! We ended up choosing: — The peanut mousse, chocolate pop rocks, and grape jelly cotton candy combo, which was both of our favorites. It’s their interpretation of a PB&J sammie. The mousse had great texture and flavor and although I normally hate cotton candy, this one went well with everything. — Compressed fruit in coconut milk with salted caramel. They vacuum seal the fruit and toss it with caramel and coconut milk. The texture of the fruit didn’t change as much as I hoped it would, but it was still pretty good. — Hot chocolate with exploding whipped cream. This just tasted like normal hot chocolate, but watching them make it was the cool part. The chef/inventor topped it with whipped cream made with liquid nitrogen and it popped all over the place. You’re not left with much cream after that, but it was definitely fun to watch. The best thing about this experience is watching them create all of your desserts. It’s like you’re back in a chemistry class lab. I love the novelty of their ideas. Their menu seems to change often, which is fitting for the name of their shop. Excellent and friendly service. Will definitely return when I am back in Denver!

A solid five. I wish I lived in Denver just so I can come here and taste every single item on their menu. As soon as we stepped in, the chefs liquified popcorn with nitrogen and gave us a sample. Needless to say, it was really, really cold popcorn but so much fun to eat. Whether you’re an adult or kid, everyone would enjoy stopping by for dessert. It was a hard decision to make, but I decided on the lemon curd ice cream. It was so exciting to watch Chef Ric make it in front of me and explain every step as he was doing it. I’m pretty sure my Asian eyes were as big as two saucers. The ice cream was FANTASTIC — super lemony and creamy in a really distinct way. It was unlike any ice cream I’ve ever had. I also loved the stewed blueberries on top and wish there was more of it. I think I could do without the torched meringue though — just not my thing. We also tried the really, really cold Cheetos which is basically cheeto puffs with liquid nitro infused — really fun to eat but it’s not something I would get again. Overall, everyone should stop by. It’s so much fun and I definitely feel like a kid when I’m here. The desserts are very well-priced too for a good portion so there’s definitely no reason not to come!

This place is amazing and so innovative! Came here with my boyfriend for a late dessert and we were greeted by nitrogen popcorn to try as we decided on what ice cream to get. I decided on the coconut milk sorbet with pomegranate bubbles and brown sugar braised pineapple, and my boyfriend got the lemon curd ice cream with blueberry stew and whipped burnt meringue. It was so cool to watch the ice cream being made in seconds by liquid nitrogen! I just couldn’t stop looking at the smoke creeping from the metal bowl. Plus, the ice cream tasted delicious! I will definitely come back here to try their other flavors :)
