Say it ain’t so! There is a rent-due notice on the front door of the café and the curtains are down. Seems they haven’t been open since late December. I was a once-weekly patron until I left for vacation and came back to see this on the door. Their breakfast burritos and kolaches were killer and decently priced, and you couldn’t beat the free-refill top-notch coffee. The music was great. The atmosphere was quiet, friendly and laid back. I have nothing good or bad to say about the bike shop as I never used it, although I wonder if this had something to do with their closure and/or inability to pay rent.

Pretty sure the sign posted in Dec. saying they are closed till 2014 is not true. So sad. What’s next for this corner… hopefully not back to a pot shop! In the meantime, Thump Coffee is good!

The most unprofessional experience in my life! In short, they had my bike for four weeks(six total) and did ZERO work. I think maybe the problem was that I showed up after work in my business clothes and perhaps the incompetent pot heads working here decided to play a joke on the yuppie. Hey guess what, I haven’t owned a car in 8 years and bike everywhere. I am not sure how this place is still open. They do not seem to be trying to run a business but maybe that’s their model: «We are too cool to do actual work so give us money.» I have had my bike for three years and it was ready for an overall. I dropped it off a week before Thanksgiving, as I was headed out of State for a bit, and told them I needed new wheels, a tuneup, maybe new brake pads, and whatever else they saw fit to fix or please. I basically gave this little shop a blank check. I was ready to drop $ 300 or even $ 500 if they could make a good argument about whatever problems they found. I give them a call two weeks later and they told me my bike was ready to go. I headed over excited to pick up my bike and expecting it to be in top condition. Turns out, they had done NO work. The wheels had only just arrived and the idiots had moved my ticket from the«in» to «out» pile. They’re filing system might have some problems. Well, I let that go. It seemed like a innocent mistake. Plus it had just started snowing and the forecast said we were in for a week of snow. I call back one week later and turns out the wheel was the wrong size! Funny, I had had a rather long conversation with the shop«expert» when dropping the bike off. I told him it was a 28 in. He said it was a 300c. Guess what? Its a 28 in. Maybe the guy in a tie knows what he’s talking about? At this point I was having my doubts about this place but I really wanted Recyclery to be my bike shop. Its close to my apartment and they’re generally pretty chill dudes, which I like(they’re just fools). So the guy didn’t really know if the new wheels had been ordered but assured me he would get right on it. So, I call back one week later(four weeks at this point). The dude has no idea whats going on, or whats happening with my bike. He gives me the most ridiculous string of word vomit about issues with the order and the owner not letting them order parts. total bull! At this point its obviously been enough nonsense, and I know I should have pulled my bike weeks ago. I tell the guy I am coming in to get my bike. I go in two days later and what do I find? A sign that says they’re closed for the year. Jesus this is a long story but it has to be told. I finally get a hold of the owner and am able to pick up my bike after a total of six weeks. Long story short, he gives me a very empty apology and send me on my way with the deposit I had put down on the wheels that never came. As I said before, I really wanted this place to be my local shop. I had already picked up a few things here and there from them and it had generally been fine. They could have made a lot of money off me over the years but now I’ll never go in there again, I’ll tell everyone I know how horrible it was, I’ll post this story where ever I can, and I look forward to the day this place goes out of business. Oh yeah, the coffee is alright. I had a breakfast burrito once and it wasn’t very good.

Good coffee and nice atmosphere, but hit or miss service, and no heat. There is either great service or terrible with screwed up orders. And for whatever reason, it’s always freezing in there. Granted it’s an old building, but so are all of them in this neighborhood. It’s uncomfortably cold enough that the few people that linger and eat, have to wear there coats inside.

BIKESHOPIS A RIPOFF! Bad service and unnecessary I got a Groupon for a tune up to this place and I really wanted to give them business. I have 3 bikes, city, mtn and cruiser bike — I ride often around Denver. Each visit(3) I have had horrible service. The guy who runs the place is always texting on his phone even when he is waiting on you. I have seen a gnat with a larger attention span. My second visit — they lost my ticket and the gear still skips that I took it in for. My last visit — I got charged $ 50 for a tune up and new chain — I realized after getting home they did NOTHING but change the chain. The bike tires had not been checked and the guy even admitted to me that no person test rode it after the«tune up». I just basically paid $ 50 for a new chain to a guy who could not have acted more stoned and disconnected to customers. He did perk up when a hot blonde walked in — but then gave her mediocre service too. I would recommend avoiding this bike shop at all costs — yours!

The Recyclery is a sweet place, particularly if you love bikes and coffee. I love bikes, and I like coffee, so it is a pretty sweet place. It is locally owned and the appetizers we had were fresh and tasty. Friendly, talkative staff. Great location.

Good coffee(Elevation and toddy iced coffee. and from the looks of it, they care about where they get their milk), good food(kolaches are tasty and their pork green chile is solid), and always, always good service. Unsure what the source of their mojo is, but they’ve got it figured out. Going here can only improve your day.

Totally unprofessional. I felt like I was a hassle trying to purchase a coffee. Maybe the management should train the employees better. Ill never go back and I try to support local businesses.

All it took was one visit to the coffee shop and I’m fairly certain I’ll become a regular. With early morning hours(open at 6am), it’s all the more easy to stop in. The Recyclery reminds me of home. It’s as if a coffee shop chalk full of character uprooted from Seattle and landed on the corner of 14th& Ogden. It’s one part café and one part bike shop, which means no one will bat an eye at your helmet hair while you sip a cup o’ joe. In addition to coffee and espresso, the café serves up a variety of kolaches, salads, and sandwiches. If you’re in a hurry, call them up because they take to-go orders. If you’re not in a hurry, you can sit at one of the tables supported by re-purposed bike frames, drink an iced toddy, and get a bike tune up. They also have a variety of used bikes for sale, so if you’re on the hunt for two-wheels, keep them in mind.

What a great place with amazing food, people, service AND a bike shop! Wow! We have always enjoyed our times here not to mention their amazing bike service. We had our tandem bike totally tricked out by them. We get compliments literally everywhere we go. Next move is to buy one of their great recycled single speeds! Can’t wait!

Got sold a broken shifter breaks and a shock which they measured my bike wrong ordered the part and refused to exchange it. Watch out for the hidden sign that says no returns and for some reason it includes new parts. If you are looking for coffee in cap hill go to pablos

Great potential but… This place has great potential and I really wanted to support a new local business, but every time I’ve gone in there(the café, not the bike shop) it’s been a disappointing experience. The atmosphere is great, but most of the 15 – 20 times I’ve been in there, there are problems with the wi-fi, or they are out of the breakfast burrito I ordered so they ask if I want to substitute with another one only to find out(10 minutes later) they are out of that one too, or they are out of the dessert they advertised on their Facebook page less than an hour before and don’t have any similar desserts, etc. Basically I’ve come to think of this as the«it’s always something» café. I’d really like to see them«get it together» but in the meantime, I’ll go to one of the dozens of other places in the neighborhood that offer consistency in their services and products.

Amazing, fresh food, good coffee, great atmosphere, good location. I had a pulled pork sandwich with slaw and it was truly a pleasure to eat. You can tell they put a lot of LOVE into this food. The bike shop is a great value as well! Got my bike fully tuned.

The café is unapologetically bicycle-themed but somehow it works without being kitschy or forced. Love the hard-wood floors and the seating arrangement. There’s a large table in the middle that can accommodate up to 12 people. Great for a bigger get-together or for meeting new people through table-sharing. Then there are smaller tables around the periphery and bar seating. There’s a decent mixture of people who come in from young bloods to middle-aged to families. And besides serving up a decent cup of joe, they also offer food. Quite frankly, though I was excited to hear about their savory scones and kolaches, their quality bummed me out. The texture of the scone was gummy and mushy and the kolache was bland and dry. And while I’m on a roll with the negative, I find their chai latte to be way too sweet. But have no fear, there is redemption. The breakfast burrito with chorizo is where it gets better and the grilled chicken sandwich is amazing! Also, if the slightly-Kurt-Cobain’ish-but-far-more-gregarious barrista pulls you an espresso, you’ll be jonesing for more. His shots are really smooth, powerful, and tasty. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. If I still lived in the hood, I could see this quickly becoming a tri-weekly if not daily hangout.

I purchased a groupon for a bike tune up since I had severely tore up my bike in Moab. They did an AWESOME job of fitting me in, and it only took a couple days to get my bike back! The owners both are very nice, and the stuff is great as well! I love that they recycle parts from bikes and can build you a custom bike too! I even love the fact that the shop owner is a dog lover and brings his awesomely cute dog in to work with him! Very honest local bike shop. I plan on taking my road bike in to get tuned up at the end of summer! :)

I love your bike shop– I took my poor Raleigh in for a tuneup and your staff overheard me talking about how I’d have to unwrap and rewrap my drop bars to fix a brake lever that had gotten knocked out of place and they did it for me without asking! What a great surprise– it saved me so much time! :-) I also love the atmosphere in the café itself – what a beautiful space and beautiful décor – and the wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. The lighting is also great in there for drawing but not too bright. Not to mention that you carry unsweetened almondmilk and, the second time I went, bags of delicious homemade kale chips! I love you guys, and this is definitely going to be one of my new favorite places to draw my comic strips!

COFFEE! BIKES!!! Coffee and bikes! So, yes, I am a cycling fanatic! I love all things bikes. Riding, looking at, talking about bikes as I sip espresso like a European, cheering on the sidelines of races, cheering from a world away as a I illegally stream one of the various spring classics straight to my laptop. You get the picture. So, I came to the Recyclery with high hopes. Maybe, just maybe, I could find a place to do all these favorite things. Add in a scone and I am in high-heaven. Well, I came and I found most of these things… and a pretty darn good scone. While it is a hipster-y vibe(which I usually find unfriendly), the guy that has always served me is warm and welcoming. He also makes a killer latte. The attached bike shop seems to mostly be geared towards fixing/tuning/etc rather then selling merchandise. But they do have quite a few used bikes for sale. I can imagine that mechanics are what keep most bike shops open anyways. My one suggestion, is… maybe, just maybe, they can get a TV and have watching parties for some of the major races this summer. That would make the Recyclery 5 stars and me a very happy lady. YAYBIKESANDCOFFEE!

I haven’t had anything from the café, so I’m just reviewing the bike shop. I brought my bike in for a(much-needed) tune and new brake pads, and they did a really great job. Not only were they pleasant and thorough, but I dropped it off on a Friday afternoon and got it back Saturday morning, which is pretty cool in my book(so many places don’t work on the weekends!). The price was pretty reasonable compared to other bike shops in the area. I was skeptical of their ability to compete with neighboring Denver Bicycle Café, but it seems like although they have the same concept, they focus on very different things — the Recyclery is much more of a full-service bike shop than DBC. I’m hoping that distinction will help keep them both alive!

This my new favorite Cap Hill spot! The owners are great guys, humble in their love of bikes and cafes alike. They have a «hipster» concept and brought it to the everyday Denver-ite, creating a separation between the bike shop and café while still allowing people to flow freely between the food. The café ambience is spot on– bright and open but still warm, great for camping out. The décor is totally inventive and unique(the bar is literally a bike rack with bikes) and the food is BOMB. Their whole menu is crafted around the idea that you can bike while you eat it, and the female chefs obviously adore what they do. With the yoga/fitness studio planned for upstairs, this place is going to become a mainstay in the Cap Hill neighborhood! PS– they’re open early(6am) and you can stay late(8 or 9pm).

If you haven’t yet heard about the ReCyclery, YOUHAVETOGO. They make killer kolaches of all sorts of flavors imaginable that have the softest bread on the outside and best(organic!) ingredients on the inside. But it’s not a bread sandwich like a lot of places that make homemade bread can fall into doing. There’s plenty of good stuff in the middle that they’re not afraid to add flavor to! The people that work there are super super super friendly and helpful too, and the atmosphere is uniquely wonderful. Everywhere you look you see repurposed bike parts, skate boards, and even a couple surf boards. I AMINLOVEWITHTHISPLACE.
