What a great little find! I have heard of this place for years and always meant to go and then I was sad to hear it closed. But wait?! I found it… open? Hell yeah! I went in tonight on a date and we had a great time. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I have to say I expected it to be a little bit judgey, but I found my fears utterly unfounded — I am thrilled to report. I had a martini that was excellent and my date had a martini as well as a Jolly Bitch that totally tasted like candy and will be my first drink on my next visit. The bartender was great fun and helped us decide what to order, welcomed us for our first visit, and truly made the experience a great time. I only had the one drink and then allowed almost 2 hours to let it wear off before driving and she even gave me free juice since I was the designated driver! How nice :) There was a great mix of people, but not too may people. I would say it was just right. The rotating art was interesting to look at and the overall feel of the place was a homey hole in the wall meets coffee shop meets bar all wrapped up into one. They are talking about karaōke starting in January and I can’t wait to be back to see. :) I also plan on going back for coffee and that experience… I’ll keep you posted :)

As a visitor from Seattle, I wanted to find a comfortable place to hang out and knock out some work and engage in good intellectual conversation. There Bar was simply amazing. I was welcomed with smiles and engaging topics. The owner Jody B made me feel right at home. I almost immediately felt like a part of this wonderful community. The feeling and sense of community is so important during these times in the world. There Bar brought this amazing sense of comfort. Sat there for like 6 hours. Ridiculous. Never felt bored either. Aside from the impeccably engaging workers and regulars, the ambience is great too. Nice lounge, great coffee, and EXCELLENT bloody marys.

I have never been treated as poorly as I was treated today at this bar. I usually have loved this bar. The bartender today treated me and my friends like we have never been treated before. She refused to serve us shots. Which if we had been drunk… fine. But we were not we were paying customers. My friends and I will never return to this bar… EVER.

Cute, Quaint, Friendly. We came in here on Friday night after work for a quick drink… it was the first time I have been here and same for my friend. Both of us new relo’s to Denver we were treated great, friendly service(with a smile)… It is a little small, but serves its purpose. We didn’t have a lot of time, so we only had a few beers, but the people all seemed to know each other, and respect each other,… which to me is important in our bars… Will be back again… during the day to have some coffee/tea. which ever…

While waiting for a tattoo appointment at Lifetime, my friend and I decided to pass the time over a cup of coffee at tHERe bar. It was so nice inside! We got two humongous, steaming cups of coffee and sat at a little two-top for a bit. The coffee, by the way, was great. There were a couple folks at the bar watching the football game, a guy studying nearby on his computer, and a couple women up in the lounge/loft area, socializing. It was very laid back. As we were finishing up our drinks, the bartender(Molly) introduced herself and welcomed us as first-time visitors. She told us about the rotating artwork, gave us information about the music performances, let us know about the computer that was free to use in the back with the purchase of a drink, the free wi-fi, and just, genuinely was really… nice. Incredibly cool and sincere. The artwork adorning the walls was eclectic and eye-catching, the decorations were cozy and not overbearing, and the layout of the place is really cool. I’m all over it, and I look forward to returning and spending some more time there. Nice little secret tucked away on Colfax.

This is a sweet(as in cute/quaint AND awesome), lesbian-owned lounge with with a huge heart! It’s not the seemingly elusive coffee that wins my affections, as sometimes it is not available and other times it does not quite hit the spot, nor the moderately-priced alcoholic beverages, unless you are talking about their amazing Bloody Mary made with the spicy house vodka. No, what makes this place special are the people: the friendly, sophisticated staff, the feminist artists that shine on the walls, the musicians that fill the small spaces with alluring, local flair, and most importantly, the women(and men) that frequent tHERe. I’ve been coming here(or there?) off and on for three years, mostly because I live around the block, and always have a fantastic time. It’s a bit of a wild card in my deck, in a good way, because I never know what to expect. The first night I showed up, there was a lesbian stand up in the loft.(There are three floors.) The next couple of times I came, the place was packed upstairs and downstairs with lesbians of all ages eagerly watching the L-Word. I’ve spent plenty a night downing a few cocktails and checking out more than the artwork ;)(this is a great place to meet women!) and just as many lying low — sipping tea, reading, doing homework, sketching, crying on a bartender’s shoulder, watching weird movies, and being skooled by the regulars about why it’s OK for guys to come to tHERe.(I started out very militant and was perturbed any time a straight dude came in the door, but have since then become more inclusive, thanks to some insights from the staff.) And tHERe, more than anything, is all about community. This is where I came to celebrate when Obama won the election. This is where I came to watch chicks with guitars, and ended up being part of the drum circle. This is where I came to support my friend put on her photography show. You get the idea. If you’ve had a negative reaction to this place, I urge you to give it another try. Pull up a chair, grab a drink(may I suggest their BOMB Blood Mary?), start up a conversation, and become part of this community. And, you never know, you may just find HER in tHERe. =)

I was doing my laundry at Smiley’s last week and asked the man on staff where the closest local coffeehouse was, and directed me to tHERe just a couple blocks east. The crisp, sunny day encouraged me to walk on over. The peace flags hanging outside showed me the way to the door … inside was happiness! Several people were enjoying coffee at the community table(disguised to look like a bar-top) while reading a book, doing homework and chatted amongst each other. The barista liked being there and carried a smile as she worked. The walls are covered in murals and clever bumper stickers In addition to tasty coffee drinks they have a full bar ~ cool! What intrigued me was the large glass jars full of brightly colored peppers and vegetables fermenting in vodka for their bloody marys. I just gotta try that someday soon.

The people at tHERe are very friendly, they treat people right and they are very prompt with getting you a drink. It’s also a really good place for a first date, or to do some general lesbian spotting.

Great place to sit and chat with whoever whenever. They also have board games and books up stairs or you could sit upstairs and get cozy with your lover. Ha!!!

Wow. Fascinating place. Trendy, hole in the wall, and homey all at once. Being something of an obvious straight male I appreciated that the staff really tried to make me feel welcome. I was there to see a friend perform and while the stage area was small the room itself was very cozy and made watching an enjoyable experience. The drinks here are very well done. The«Oh Jody» chai I ordered looked like something out of a food magazine and tasted like something out of my dreams. I really like the mix of traditional coffee house drinks with a full bar allowing a person to satisfy the urge for coffee, tea, liqour or all of the above. I’ll be back with my fiancée to show her. This great little place!

Wanna do some lesbian watching? Go tHERe! Always great prompt service! I don’t drink booze, but they have a lot of different specials to keep things interesting.(As if drunk lesbians weren’t interesting). They even infuse a special«sauce» for Bloody Marries. I thoroughly enjoy using the wifi, drinking iced lattes and lesbian watching here. Love, A Lesbian

After I kept talking about visiting tHERe several times last year on vacation in Denver, I finally had my chance this past June. It was hot that day and thinking it was going to be air-conditioned it was not. It was stuffy and muggy. The barista recommended the upstairs loft to be cooler as the air was turned on. Eh it wasn’t much difference & i felt kinda lonely up there. So my friend and I decided to go back down. Staff was very friendly to my friend as she has been there before but very cold towards me. I’m not the most outgoing individual, I’m kinda shy but the staff can be a little more friendly. I feel like you get star treatment if the staff knows you personally. Might as well make it a private club and ask for a password. Free Wi-Fi was a plus as well as the décor and quotes painted on the walls. I kicked up a conversation to a regular there and he was great! Almost wished he worked behind the bar. I get that woman tend to be meticulous, catty, not as approachable or temperamental but I think they need to work on their personality style. Being a woman and a lesbian at that, I felt as if I wasn’t good enough to talk to. Because of my not so great visit to tHERe, I’m not too thrilled to check their other place of establishment«HER Bar.» Would I recommend this place to a friend? Hmmm I would have to think about it.

you’re still just a-ok, however, i want to be more nice in this review because i visited you last night, monday, and you were completely dead, so my friend and i got great service and attention, well, in fact we made friends with the guy behind the bar, i like him so much more than the other lady that is usually there. so i will be back, just wanted to let you know that i don’t hate you, but i think i can only see you on week nights or during the day.

Since it’s inaugural cup of brew, I have been a huge fan of tHERe. Not only is it lady friendly, they whip up the meanest hazelnut soy latte this side of Seattle. The baristas/bartendresses are always a kick to talk to and will catch you up on community happenings. Jodi B. is always changing up the art and offerings to keep things fresh and interesting. Their MySpace page is always up to date with invites and updates on the goings-on about town. tHERe is a great neighborhood spot to read a book, study, meet up with a friend for coffee or cocktails. The big screen has the game de jour or the L word, who can ask for anything more?

I just love urban lesbians. This little café-bar(written as tHERe — oy vey) is one of the only gay establishments in this city that’s 1) straight friendly and 2) where you can actually have a conversation with somebody. There’s a loft lounge, a basement lounge, free internet, and cool bartenders with opinions and personalities and everything. It’s totally pretty and covered with the owner’s own(quite good) art. I’ve never really seen it busy, but then again I haven’t been there on L-Word night.

There Coffee Bar & Lounge is a colorful haven of pleasantness, starkly out of place along seedy crack and garbage ridden Colfax Avenue. When you walk into There Coffee Bar it takes you a minute to adjust, like dilating your pupils, to comprehend your suddenly non-hostile environment. «L-Word Party,» reads a flyer. «$ 5.» I see stuffed unicorns and toys for children. And a child – one. She is on the first level, eating Pizza with her dad. Oh, there are three stories! Quaint. Cozy-ish. A nice place to stay for a while. Two computers with Internet access in the back. Travellers will appreciate. Lotsa ladies reading. Though you know the actual building must have had a rough life, the space is in good hands now :)
