Good for a late night stop … Esp after the bar for some breakfast recovery food When Denver diner was under revocations we came here Instead… It was good but but not life changing & something I’d crave…

I don’t know if it was because I had spent approximately 9 hours binge drinking before going here, but I got a bagel sandwich and it was the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. Our server was hysterical and definitely made the experience fun.

Had an amazing experience at Tom’s tonight. Our waiter, Kevin, was so enthusiastic and made the experience worth posting about. Can’t wait to go back– much thanks to Kevin and all that he does for others. Tom’s forever

Owner, Tom, was completely unaware of staff conduct, behavior, and performance on the night we were patrons. I called and I left him a message. He called me back, minutes later. He listened to concerns and acknowledged the situation was far from acceptable; and it bothered him that’s how his business was being run in his absence. Tom then offered to refund our whole meal, not just the item the wait staff«Larry» threw away. Knowing Tom’s aware of these issues and has promised to address them all, I’ll give«Tom’s» another try.

As someone said below, you don’t come here for the food, but instead for the retro ambiance and odd characters that stumble off the street. Wait staff were quite friendly and the food was served quickly. Expect straight forward diner fare here — nothing bad but nothing great. Used the restrooms and was appalled to find that someone had puked in the urinals, and did an extreme number two in the toilets. From what I could gather, the mess had been there quite some time and the staff had not bothered to clean it. I though tto myself, if they were willing to leave somethign like that for customers to see, I’m not sure what level of cleanliness and hygiene they have in the kitchen. Saying this, what else would one expect from somewhere off Colfax?

I’ve been here a handful of times since moving to Denver and love it. It has a certain charm, ya know? The staff are all super nice and make you feel welcome. Boyfriend and I always get the Biscuits and Gravy and Stuff! Top notch. Only thing I don’t so much dig is the«scrambled» eggs. It was kind of a flat, unappealing slab of «stuff», nothing scrambled about it haha. But with that exception, the other things I have tried have all been great. Pancakes especially! I also love that they usually offer us a cup of coffee to go. Very kind people, attentive service and good comfort food any time of day!

Overall it was good. My experience wasn’t the best. The waitress brought me the wrong omlet. I didn’t notice and took a bite of the potatoes. She comes over, grabs it, and rakes it to another table after giving me the right plate… ewww. I asked if she gave mine to them and she said no… but I had a bad taste after that. I had the Spanish omlet and it was good, though.

Food is never why you go here. It’s a place to regain your drunken dignity, people watch, and witness some hilarious fist fights. I’ve met some great people here and had a lot of fun, but the food is meh. I typically review restaurants for their quality of product, but I would say that Tom’s atmosphere IS the product. Food is the price you pay to hang out there. Keep on, Tom’s Diner. And never change. Now that the Denver Diner caught on fire(or one of your staff set it ablaze), I’ll be frequenting you after long bouts of heavy drinking and debauchery.

I’d like to start by saying, I believe in cutting people slack. Especially when it’s customer service and sometimes you get really crappy people with attitudes. Now saying that, my experience last night was sub-par. I went with my brother and sister, both of whom had been drinking at Octoberfest and I was the DD. My brother was in a bad mood due to some comments made by 3NOT so lady types. My sister was the typical drunk repeating herself over and over. However, they weren’t loud nor obnoxious. Our server took A LONGTIME to get us our drinks and then she told us per owner’s rules she couldn’t wait on us until my brother(our friend she called him) was sitting upright. My sister asked for to-go containers and it took her awhile again. Now last night there were at LEAST5 ladies working and 1 guy plus the cooks. I watched as the 1 woman in blue(I’ll remember her) did her job, was on task and didn’t BS with the other waitresses. They were louder than the customers and they were complaining about something. It’s bad form to do this in front of customers. The meal was cheap, it took a while and the service was bad. Because I consider myself a KIND person, I still left a tip though small. My biggest tip to her was pay attention to your customers and maybe you will receive a bigger one. I have been to Tom’s Diner a few times, mostly during the day as I don’t care for the riff-raff that comes in at night. I have always been greeted warmly and served quickly. The next time I go(IF I go) I will make sure to get the lady in blue or the black gentleman who seemed to be working very hard. Gabbers annoy me! As for the food, it was so-so…I ordered Captain Ahab and there was cheese on it. It didn’t say cheese that I recall reading the stuff on the meal. Cheese on fish is gross. Next time I will remember to tell them NOCHEESE!

This place used to be worth coming to late night but the service as of late has been atrocious. The situation I am particularly referring to was one where I wound up here around 2am with some friends to eat. Everything took a super long time, but I don’t think anything took longer than receiving a check from the waitress. Well, the check, and the fact whenever you would ask for something especially right when the food was brought out, she would go touch other tables before bringing the things she had forgotten, not even new items. When it came time for the check, we waited longer than 40 minutes to pay for a meal that already took 30 minutes to receive. The waitress had no sense of urgency or general care for her job. When she brought the check and tried to walk off without taking our payments immediately I told her to wait and take the money right there because we weren’t going to wait around 30 minutes for her to touch our table, because we didn’t want to or need to be there any longer. She replied to me in a smart tone, «well I don’t want to be here either», I quickly replied«this is your job, you get paid to be here, I don’t.» She walked off and when she brought the checks back with the cards she told us «welcome to late night toms diner». There is absolutely zero reason a customer should sit waiting to pay their tab for 40+ minutes. The food isn’t worth the time you have to spend to acquire it. There are plenty of other places right down the street.

I used to be a patron of Denver Diner(RIP), but since it closed I’ve been desperately searching for that same greasy spoon fix. Thank god for Tom’s on nights when I’m not really in my prime! Open 24 hours, it’s basically perfection when you leave a bar or concert after having a few too many. You will most likely wake up with the worst heartburn of your life, but at least you won’t be quite as hungover! This place is just about as grungey as you would expect a 24 hour greasy spoon on Colfax to be, but the service is quick and the food does it’s job!

This place is great for your standard diner fare. They’re open 24 hours and the waiter/waitress is sure to call you hon. Kind, quick, attentive service and really good chicken-fried steak… so I hear. I’m on a diet. winkwink

Stopped in with the kids for an easy breakfast before a day of back to school prep. We were seated promptly and had our food quickly. I had oatmeal with the fixings, and kids had omelette & eggs/sausage. All the food was decent and good sized portions. Good olé diner food!

I have eaten at this place for almost 30 years. It was not Tom’s in the beginning but it seems to have stayed pretty much the same this whole time. Its 24 hours so its great for after the bar. I have loved everything I have eaten at this place. The staff has always been very friendly and usually pretty fast too. I have met Tom a couple times and he is a very nice guy. The bathrooms have always been a bit gross so I just dont use them. They may have improved them and I am just not aware because I dont use them anymore. If you never have been to Tom’s, and you like diner food, you need to try this place. I would recommend everything on the menu. Just dont ask any«stupid questions» because they charge for that LOL!

Has anyone been here before Midnight? Great spot on Colfax for the late night crowd. Simple diner that can give you the 4th meal of whatever you crave. I usually roll with breakfast, but there are many other offerings you would expect from a diner. The busiest crowds roll in around 2am, so if you looking for a late night sit down meal, get to Tom’s 30 minutes before 2am or you could end up waiting another 30 minutes!

It was average… I ordered fish fillets, with fries, it was nothing special, pretty bland… in fact it tasted like the fillet o fish at mcdonalds… they’re open 24hrs and located on the fax I’d probably only go after a long night of alcohol, at that point the quality of the food wouldn’t be so important.

I mean seriously, what are the odds of having a diner with my name 3 blocks south of where I am supposed to live. To make it better, it is a 24 hour joint too– something that seems to be difficult in the city of Denver(unless you are a 711 or a WaHo). I finally caved in one night and went after work. I felt like I was in the diner where Vin Diesel did his training in «XXX». It was awesome. And with all of the homeless people in there and the cursing, I almost felt like I was on the set. This place is frozen in time. It’s like 1966 screwed 1973, and Tom’s Diner was the baby– for the most part, I am OK with that. There is free parking in the back– make sure you park in the correct places, as they watch the lot like a hawk. Look out for the homeless people too. Seems to be a trend around there. Sat right at the counter, and looked at the huge menu. Fatty was hungry, so I decided to get something with a bang– got the country fried steak plate. It came with choice of soup or salad. They were out of soup. The salad was alright– nothing special. At least the lettuce wasn’t brown. The rest of the food came out quickly. It was alright, for 2AM after work food. I just wish teh homeless people would quit staring, or asking for money! I was pretty close to throwing one through the glass windows. I know, I have rage issues. Where you pay at the counter, they have candy and hats and shirts for sale. I opted out this time. Needless to say, given the location, this place is seems to never have a dull moment. I hear also hear they have milkshakes to die for. I might have to go back and try one.

This is the kind of place you dine at and leave smelling like grease. But during ungodly hours and at times when you’re drunk and need some bad-for-your-diet foods to satisfy your cravings Tom’s Diner is there to the rescue. I tried their French toast milk shake which was daring considering it sounded kind of gross. It was tasty but had a very strong smokey flavor to it that I couldn’t decide was good or bad. It was almost tasted artificial. I cannot imagine how actual French toast was used to make that shake. What I do love about this place though is the googly architecture, 60s windows and diner booths, stools and counter. That retro vibe felt authentic and not fabricated here. Late at night on the weekend this place actually gets pretty crowded with a wait time.
