I have had the pleasure of experiencing an amazing fly fishing trip with Kyle and Mitch! From the moment I walked into the quaint and charming shop till the moment of walking off the river we had an amazing day! We had experienced fly fishermen and novices in our group and a good time was had by all. I can honestly say I have the bug… Or fly if you will for fly fishing and can’t wait to begin my classes with the shop and head out again with Kyle! Thank you!

I highly recommend Trout’s Fly Fishing for those looking to book a quality guided day on the river. From my very first conversation with the staff I knew I had made the right choice. Mitch, our guide, was fantastic and his ability to find and put us on fish was awesome. We caught some personal best trout that day and if I find myself back in Denver I will go with them again.

Let me start off by saying Jon and his staff are super attentive and the service is exceptional! I ordered some wading shoes online for an international trip (gift for my brother) and received it within 4 days with free shipping (that was nice). I opened the box and it wasn’t the right pair so I panicked b/​c I was leaving on an international flight in three business days. I called the store and Jon and staff quickly fixed the issue. They expedited the new\correct pair over night and mailed me a return label to ship the wrong pair back. He made sure I had the shoes before I left for my trip! He kept in contact from the moment I called until I received the shoes to give me updates. Usually stores wait until they receive the wrong items before shipping the new pair but he didn’t hesitate on getting me the shoes in time before receiving his merchandise back. GREAT SERVICE ALL AROUND. I’m on my trip right now and couldn’t be happier! Thanks!

One of my favorite fly shops in the city! Great selection of flies and gear. The staff actually fish on the weekends have seen many of them on the river and know what they are talking about. Along with great rental fees.

John (one of the guides there) is awesome! His fly fishing tips are great and the best part was the fact we could bring our dogs!!! Great experience — can’t wait to go back and fish with John!

My boyfriend and I visited from Virginia and were excited to try a guided fly fishing tour. Neither of us had experience fly fishing, but selected Trout’s based on a personal recommendation, reviews, and the price. Our guide, Lee, made sure we got the hang of it! I gladly recommend Trout’s for anyone looking for a great fishing experience.
Lee was quite knowledgeable about the river and technique. I had never fly fished before, so Lee helped me to get suited up and taught me the basic technique on land with a few practice casts before hitting the water. He supervised my casts and offered suggestions for improvement as we went along. He split instruction time evenly between my boyfriend and I, offering reminders and suggestions for places to cast. The water was quite high on the day we went out, and Lee made sure that we were safe and comfortable where we were fishing. Because the water was so high, we did have a bit of difficulty actually reeling in a fish, but it certainly wasn’t for lack of trying! We were on the water from dawn until dusk trying a variety of areas, and my boyfriend caught one fish. We had a blast checking this of our bucket list, and I think my boyfriend is definitely sold on the idea of purchasing his own fly rod to experiment with.
Aside from the actual fishing, Lee wore a lot of hats as our «Über driver,» photographer, and deli guy. He was timely, provided all of the needed materials for day (boots, waders, sunscreen, hats, croakies, gatorade… anything you needed!), brought a multitude of options for lunch, and was a gentleman, setting up chairs for us to sit in while suiting up and a table for us to eat lunch on, offering a hand when my waders and boots got a bit too heavy for walking through the current after a long day, and untangling my line without a complaint! The great photos will serve as a lifelong memento of the great day we had. Thank you!

Great outfit. David L. was our guide for the day and you couldn’t ask for a nicer guy or a better guide. He was extremely helpful to the experienced fly fisherman in our group as well as to novice (i.e. me) in our group.

Most of the reviews posted are about the actual shop, and I had been interested in the guide service that is offered. I highly recommend their guide services for an incredible fishing adventure. I had an incredible experience on the water with my guide Scott. He put me on the fish and was extremely knowledgable about all aspects of the river. Hands down best fly guide I’ve had. Keep it up I’ll be back

Great shop, what a local fly shop should be. The guys are really helpful, and even though it’s a smaller shop, there’s nothing they don’t have.

Trouts is hands down the best local fly shop in Denver. Great service, selection, and they always make you feel welcome. Talk to them for the latest in hatches, and the hot spots to fish.

Thanks for all the help picking out my new 3 weight fly rod and getting me set up with hunting licenses.

BEWARE– these guys are the worst. If you like to waste your money on a fly shop that doesnt help you or blows smoke up your a** then enjoy. But, if you like to personally get to know your fly shop and learn the area and whats hitting there are much better in the Denver area. Coming from the Vail valley area, this store is laughable at best. Ill spend all my hard earned money at Anglers All off Santa Fe, went there right after and had the best experience in Denver yet, they where helpful and guided to all the local spots and what was hitting.
PS, I would give it ZERO stars but it wouldnt let me so that is why it has one star.

This is one of the better fly shops in the Denver area. The owner Tucker really does a great job of making this a fly shop you want to frequently visit with happy hour fly days and special guest speakers coming in. It is a smaller shop but seems to be perfectly stocked with the gear that you need. I would highly suggest coming on a day with a special event and also of about to go out check their website for fishing reports. The reports used to be updated more but this still gives a good overall idea of how the Colorado home waters (near Denver) are doing. Additionally the help and Tucker will generally give you some good advice on how the river in the area are doing and what to at least try.
One tip for the fly tiers in the building is that this I more of a fly gear and buying fly shop… not necessarily made for the fly tier enthusiast. You can get the bare essentials but it is a limited selection if looking to do anything special or intermediate tying. Anglers all has a good selection for that. Other than that I would totally suggest this place as I have in the past.
One last thing only street parking so can be a little difficult to park at times, so if going to special event or happy hour get there a little early.

They are great guys. Knowledgeable, friendly, and not a bunch of stuck-​up fly fisherman. They are always my #1 recommendation for fly shops in Denver to out=of-town friends.
Plus, Thursdays the usually have a happy hour with some free beers and cheap flies. Yeah buddy.

This is the best shop in the Denver metro area. If they had a bar in the shop I’d be there even more! They’ve got a great happy hour during the week on flies. The staff is young, enthusiastic, honest and extremely knowledgable. I’ve never had a bad experience there.

I booked a trip at the YR Ranch on the lower Blue for my father in law (first timer) and me (experienced former guide).
Dave Lovell was our guide, and he was unfailingly patient and gave us exactly the trip we were looking to have. He spent most of his time with my father in law, ensuring he had a good first day that would leave him wanting to come back for more. He let me fish how I wanted to fish, and provided advanced pointers in a way that wasn’t heavy handed and will make me a better angler.
We had one of the best days on the water I have ever had, and I think my father in law is a convert. It was amazing to see how much he learned in one day.
Definitely give Dave a call if you’re looking for a trip in the Denver area.

I like these guys, they are always friendly and helpful! The store looks small but is well stocked. The staff is knowledgeable and I love the location.

For a neighborhood fly shop, they have it all! The staff immediately greets you at the door (and sometimes the dog too). They know their stuff & are always willing to share knowledge with you as to how to become better at what you do.
When I first came in here, I thought the prices were a bit high. However, after shopping around for a few years, I found the prices to be pretty competitive.
I thought it was Tues & Thurs, but it might be Thurs and Fridays — happy hour from 4PM-​8PM. 10% all tying gear. It might be for other things as well, but this is what I normally go in here for. Look on the bottom of their website for upcoming Happy Hours.

This place is a great shop here in Denver. The knowledge is clearly there, and the staff is always very welcoming. Kyle knew me by name by the second time I went in and always makes sure he says hello even if he is with other customers. Tucker is also always open to ask questions, and will give you the low down on any river you may have questions about. This is always nice to find in a local shop.
I have purchased a few pieces of gear from here and also get flies here and there as well. Typically I come in to chat and see what is hot at the moment. The reason I give it a four is that aside from all of these positive things, I only find one thing missing. The materials sections is completely slacking when compared to other shops. As I live in the neighborhood, I will head in if i need something without having to haul to another shop, but I try to get my materials from other places. The prices also tend to be a bit more expensive here on tying materials as well.
