Service was good. Ordered the French Quarter Oysters, 7oz Filet, and Lobster Bisque. French Quarter Oysters — they do not taste anything close to like the ones in new orleans which I was kinda excited about initially. They had this overburnt cheese taste to it that while wasn’t terrible, didn’t really endear me to it either. Also had some grit so they didn’t clean properly. Lobster Bisque — it was decent, thin soup, not as thick as some other places. however, there was this layer of oil on top of it that I thought was strange to see. I also got some lobster shell in my soup I chewed on. it’s never fun to chew on something hard when drinking soup. 7oz Filet — this was super disappointing. sure it was tender… but almost mushy. you could tell right away by the cut of the meat this was more like a TGIF style filet than a legit steakhouse. It was a really average piece of meat, and honestly, you are better off paying 5 – 10 dollars more at a place like Ruth Chris for a better cut and quality of meat. I also ordered a dirty goose martini with hand stuffed blue cheese olives. That was good.

I had a great experience at Willie G’s on my birthday a couple weeks ago. We were greeted promptly when we walked in and had a really pleasant waitress. Ordered the crab stuffed shrimp which tasted amazing. Yes, there was a little bit of wait for the food but it was well worth it. I will definitely be back!

Good service, hostess not very helpful. Ate at the bar and bartender was very attentive. My friend and I had Gumbo(not very good), shrimp cocktail(fair), red snapper(fantastic), and the filet mignon(fair, salty). Atmosphere was fine, dark lighting and all. Seemed a little overpriced for the food quality.

Had a great experience. I was able to get a reservation about 40 minutes early on a Friday night. Food was awesome. Birth my steak and my shrimp were exactly as that should be. I will be back.

We both had the mixed seafood grill. I did not expect everything on the plate to be blackened. And it had a whopping two(count um two) scallops. Anyway, we both had indigestion the rest of the evening. $ 100 worth of indigestion that is :(

I have ordered Calimari at a lot of restaurants. I do not know what was brought to us, but it was not Calimari. The only way to describe it would be Elmer’s glue coating a rubber band and then deep fried. The food was the worst I have had in Colorado. I hope that this Willie G’s is not a franchise of the Galveston Willie G’s. If it is the Denver Willie G’s is dragging their name through the dirt. Food is awful. Don’t waste your time or your money.

The service was great. The food is more of an overpriced Applebee’s, 40 dollars for a steak dinner minus a side dish. They charge an extra 8 for that. The seafood is gross, overcooked from frozen preorders and taste about a month old. I wouldn’t recommend this place from for food. But if you want a great happy hour drink, go for it.

I have been meaning to update this review for a while now as we had a second experience with them since my last review. I will start by openly admitting that they read my review, reached out and asked if they could have us back as their guests, so they knew who I was, and they were covering the cost of dinner, which definitely helped me adjust the score. The manager(the same one from the previous review) knew of our experience, and made sure to seat us in the section of a great server and made sure he was even more great to us. The food was exactly what you would expect, the burger was cooked properly, they had what we wanted, etc. We ordered cocktails instead of a bottle of wine so that there would not be the chance of them being out of the bottle. Also, it was more of a cocktail night for us. I would return for a date, maybe even a double date, but I don’t think I would do so for a larger(more then 4 people) group.

It was a great experience, it is the second time we visit this restaurant and we have a great experience on service and phenomenal experince with food. Everything is delicious, fresh and just perfect. You can tell the chef cooks with passion as it translates to the dishes in a magical way. Sea bass and red snapper are highly recommended. The sea bass was perfectly seasoned and the sauce that comes with it is just simple but brings the flavor to a higher level. The red snapper was absolutely amazing, well seasoned and it was a perfect portion. Our server was very friendly and was on top of every detail. Yes, we will definetly be back.

I can’t believe we have never tried this place before but it was really good. We came with friends and split the appetizer with crab legs, lobster, shrimp and oysters — pretty good. Service was great and dinner was great as well. It’s worth spending your pesos for dinner here and we’ll probably be back again sometime but there are so many great places in Denver for steak and seafood with a little better atmosphere. A little dead the night we came but could be the timing of events happening in Denver. Still, the food was delish and drink menu was plentiful!

Really great hamburger«G’s with cheese» only $ 10 and made with two large patties of wonderfully seasoned beef… Also recommend their side of seasonal summer zucchini and mushrooms! Place is a little dark, but we sat by the window and had an awesome view of 16th Street Mall… Patio looks great too!

I had oysters and they very fresh. They have a great wine selection by the bottle and by the glass. I had the sea bass and it was perfect. I would come back on my next trip to Denver.

Sick All Night!!! DONOTEATTHEGUMBO! We were in Denver at a convention and thought we would venture out from the downtown Marriott to check out the many, many restaurants. Without doing any checking on Unilocal(big mistake) we went into Willie G’s just to try something new(we have plenty of Cheesecake Factories back home). This was a Thursday night and the place was about 1⁄5 full(should have been a clue). The staff service was very friendly and fast. My wife and I ordered the Seafood Gumbo(me) and the chicken Gumbo. At first taste my wife thought it(chicken gumbo) was horrible and could not eat it. She told the waitress who just nodded her head, took it away but did not take it off the bill. I ate the seafood gumbo because I had not eaten all day at the convention and I can generally eat anything. Later that night my stomach felt strange and I awoke with diarrhea which still persist hours later. This is VERY rare for me and prompted this rare post on Unilocal. Go at your own risk!

They have an excellent blackened scallops! I can’t seem to find the online review that first told me about this, but I’m sure glad I found it before. In addition to being wonderfully flavored, the scallops are topped with bacon and placed in a savory corn chutney. In addition to an excellent scallop dish, which in my opinion is grounds for four stars, the fifth star was earned by an attentive staff that is determined to make your dining experience a great one.

Stopped here because it had a decent seafood and steak menu. Food was OK, but nothing to rave about. The gumbo was a little thick and all it had was rice and shrimp… last I remember from my Cajun routes, gumbo has more than 2 items in it. Steak was slightly overcooked but we’ll seasoned. The snapper was OK. The best part of the meal was the happy hour alcohol discount and the bread.

Today was my first visit to Willie G’s and my first impression was wow very nice setup and professional. I ordered the beer battered cheese curds for an appetizer and they were to die for! Caesar salad was alright I’ve had better but still good. For the main entrée I ordered a 7oz filet cooked medium with the Oscar topping which has crab and cut up asparagus. Man it was the best damn steak I have ever eaten. If you are looking for a good steak come here but don’t make it an every week deal just a bit pricey but totally worth it!

We really wanted to like this place and finally stepped out of the Oceanaire/Morton’s comfort zone when it comes to Landry’s restaurants, but this place really just didn’t meet our expectations. We’d checked out the menu in advance, and if truth be told — the junk fries lured us in. They sounded really yummy, but were really just kind of meh which is how I felt about the whole experience and the food we got. We shared some snapper entrée, but the best thing about it was the scallop on top which was actually prepared perfectly. The fish itself was doused in salt — ick. This place is right on the 16th Street Mall, so they probably get more tourists than anything. We might come back for HH oysters since they are only $ 1.50 each, but Denver has much better restaurants to offer.

This restaurant is located in an area with an incredible number of steak and seafood houses. It’s a pretty standard steakhouse. I tried their seafood gumbo and it was salty beyond belief. So I switched to the clam chowder. It was decent but lacked the true flavor of a New England clam chowda(for full disclosure, I lived in Boston for 5 years, so I’m kind of a chowder snob). One highlight were the mussels. Delicious. Probably my favorite dish at the restaurant. The bruschetta was disappointing. In terms of the steak and lobster dish that I got, the lobster was definitely better prepared than the steak. Pretty standard steak. Nothing special. My steak was slightly on the cool side when it was served but at least it wasn’t overcooked! Didn’t get dessert so can’t comment.
