At the suggestion of my Kaiser physical therapist yesterday, I thought I’d drive over to this place, and am so glad I did. I had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee in 2013, followed by PT sessions in California. After packing up, moving to Colorado recently, and unpacking, even with help of friends and family, my knee began rebelling. I have a ground-level apartment with a bathroom that is well-equipped with grab bars, but I wanted something more to help me when I want to indulge in a sit-down bath. Kelly at this establishment knew immediately what I was asking for, and showed me a Deluxe Tub Grab Double Grip for $ 39.99. While there, I also got an ergonomic can opener, an Easy-Grip Sock Pull(because RA in my hands makes putting on socks challenging), and a pill caddy for my briefcase. To round out my shopping, I got a cane(also a suggestion by my PT), in a paisley psychedelic design. Hey, getting older is inevitable, so I may as well OWN it with baby-boomer style! Linda(another staffer), adjusted the cane to my height, and watched me walk with it to make sure I was getting its full benefit. I then was able to «spin the wheel,» and won a pair of rubber-bottomed socks, which I chose in bright sassy red. In exchange for paying cash, I got a 3% discount off the bottom line. Linda walked with me to my car, concerned that my «heavy bag» would pose a problem. Years ago, I worked as a case manager for elderly clients. Then, later on, I shopped for my mother until she passed away this last February. Going into this store, at first, triggered some strong emotions, but at the end, I was surprised that now buying«assistive supplies» for myself would be such a pleasant experience.

When my father in law forgot to pack his oxygen concentrator, we called Youcan Toocan. A faxed prescription later I went to pick this up. I was overwhelmed with the friendliness and courtesy of the staff. I had a list of specific items to go with it, which they got promptly for me and spent several minutes making sure I knew how to use the unit and that everything was satisfactory. While I was waiting for things from the back and to be rang up they invited me to try out the comfortable chairs in the front, which I did. They then brought out my paperwork and receipt on a clip board to sign off on so I didn’t have to get up and carried everything to my car. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back there and while there I was scanning for additional things I could buy just because I was so happy with this experience. I would recommend this place to any and all.

The hospital rehab which gave us the Youcan Toocan catalog said we could probably get things cheaper at Walgreens or Walmart. What they forgot to mention is the value if having one of the people at YT give you help and advice. Almost all customers in the store are there for the first time and need special assistance and advice. And, at least while I was there they all got it! Several choices for the items I needed were set up for inspection and after the sales lady helped me choose the best one, she was easily able to show me how to use it. I am so glad I came here. I actually had visited the two W stores, but hadn’t even found any of the items I was looking for. Just go to YT and get what you need.

Wellness??? The help is very aloof. No one can answer a question. You can’t open any of the products. I was told that I could look at the picture on the box when I tried to check the size. If you open it, you MUST buy it, oh! the best part is you can’t return anything that has been opened. Forget returning anything. Opened or Sealed. With a Receipt! They charge a «RESTOCKING» fee to put an unopened product back on the shelf. Very disappointing. I will never purchase anything there again and hope I can help others from a very negative experience. Watch out!
